[0:07] the kids are asleep I was asleep five minutes ago the adult beverages are poured and as usual line after this but I just woke up welcome to new dad gaming

[0:17] show about fatherhood gaming and new fathers figuring out their gaming lives my name is Trevor and I have a seven-month-old my name is Gavin I have

[0:26] a five month old my name is Jeff a almost three year old and a five and a half year old 2016 we did it I’ve survived woo it feels different doesn’t

[0:39] it it’s a whole new year I’m still at that stage were writing down dates I’m still forgetting what a five instead of a six the good thing is a five so easily

[0:51] becomes a six like one extra little line and you’re covered it’s just a sad look in six it still works like four to five is 425 was a rough transition there

[1:02] ain’t no saving that like a new piece of paper the gentleman though happy and happy new year we haven’t spoken since Christmas the quick recap how was the

[1:14] holidays both from a family perspective and a gaming perspective for you both oh it was good it was busy lots of a little bit of travel a little bit of hosting on

[1:26] and off this is it was a nice nice experience it was fun to be able to host this year my wife and I hosted for my parents we’ve traveled to see her

[1:36] parents and was our baby’s first Christmas so that was that was pretty fun she got spoiled we’ve managed to find places for all the wonderful gifts

[1:47] in our modest little apartment and yeah as far as gaming goes got a little bit in here and there I started playing the order um that’s been fun it’s like a

[1:59] very much what the reviews were saying a very interactive movie but the first understand you should be finished it pretty soon to listen really yes but uh

[2:10] nominal Wars close no it’s fun but it is very like it’s more of it’s almost like you’re exploring the game engine as much as you

[2:21] are playing the game like you’re just appreciating the detail in the environment if you’re looking for something that’s very interactive and

[2:32] responsive to your interaction with that world it’s not really giving a lot of that but if you like walking around environments and admiring light cascade

[2:43] cascading over like mahogany then yeah Lily this year again you’re going to dig it I think it’s actually it’s definitely a graphics nerds game like if you’re

[2:54] really into seeing how games are progressing in regards to lighting and texturing and stuff like that it’s definitely really nice to observe it

[3:04] does look amazing yeah it’s a it’s done absolutely stunning it doesn’t really do much innovation whys and the gameplay mechanics narrative lee it’s kind of fun

[3:16] it’s the steampunk kind of knights of the round table fighting werewolves so that’s kind of wacky and kind of but yeah yeah no it’sit’s a I’ve been

[3:28] digging it but i’ve also been going back to follow and a little bit above just college here in there okay that’s boot that’s but Oliver yes yes nice how much

[3:37] yourself Jeff I was the holidays gaming family the holidays with a almost three year old and a five year old are terrible nice tree um I was glad that

[3:48] they went back to school in daycare ah it’s a little bit different when you’re kind of entertaining them day to day so dumb so the kids have an advent calendar

[3:58] that counts down to Christmas jeff has Holly holidays over advent calendar was just like all right it begins just 12 days and we’re back yeah because you’re

[4:08] constantly doing stuff keeping them moving trying to tire them out ah suck that energy out so they go to bed at night and they don’t you know they don’t

[4:16] they know that they don’t have to wake up and go to school or go to daycare so they just 1% like in the morning they’re going a hundred percent you guys try and

[4:26] get them out of the house it’s a tiring so um you know when you grew up and you thought winter break was like the longest thing ever there is the

[4:37] longest thing ever just on the parents side oh it’s a it was it’s fun like they had a great christmas santa brought them what they ask for it was all paw patrol

[4:49] stuff paw patrol you guys will get there and then I really just tried to spend my night hours playing Witcher 3 trying to get dig my teeth into my claws into that

[5:02] I guess and I go today so not what’s the buzz is nothing but stellar things about it it’s definitely one I want to pick up I’m in the middle of a couple of pretty

[5:13] big project so I haven’t had a lot of time for gaming but I mean I guess I’m off once these things conclude and actually spend time just hanging it with

[5:23] my daughter and gaming when she’s napping and that should yeah a fun little little bit of time to get caught up on some games and I think which is

[5:33] going to be one of the one of the few that I’m gonna add to the stack of games I’m made into play it seems pretty deep it just feels like it can be a bit of

[5:41] fatigue though if you’re coming from fallout huge massive open world lots of depths and then go into which are three huge massive game love it give me lost

[5:51] Trevor you can do a god any question marks on the map oh geez yet so many people to save her own unicorn yes exactly really going to make sure the

[6:03] kids are bed for that or we’ll do it when they’re young right that’s right they want to understand it I have no idea that’s part to like that’s like

[6:10] their understanding of how sex works it’s like well when a man loves a woman they find a unicorn and yeah magic happens literally please like 16 is like

[6:20] girl I want to make this happen for our first time but I just I don’t have a unicorn I’m sorry we can’t can’t go all the way I’m sorry he feels like a

[6:27] seventies a little doubt that when something along those lines but I could be wrong yeah i think there’s likely any match any words together there’s

[6:35] likeliest 70s love ballad for that scenario and when a man loves a woman he finds a unicorn I think it exists the gum yeah

[6:45] for myself with the trusting kind of gaming thing because I by happenstance I got back a old piece of hardware I’d lent out it’s this old gaming it says

[6:55] mini gaming laptop alienware launched it it was like at ml of an ex it’s this really tiny 11 inch gaming laptop and it has a decent amount of power for the

[7:03] time like now it’s definitely underpowered like it wouldn’t run followed for instance so I decided you know what I’ll take this to my parents

[7:12] as going to my parents for a week in a bit during the holidays and had a limited selection of games that this thing could play and I’m like all right

[7:19] well not from this selection what would I want to play ended up putting on the game that I loved on the xbox 360 called demon Ford sure no I’m gonna ruin it

[7:33] yeah very good bill yeah it’s your is literally just one man and an elf and you’re running through dungeons saving something like it one is a what would

[7:46] you call it a rogue type Yellen is an archer hell of an archer might be deemed Forge wasn’t even George or something like that yeah hey we are literally

[7:59] going on to google right now do not remember that one you guys could have sworn we played it yeah I remember that one like the guy was kind of like this

[8:11] tank yeah yeah yeah yep okay make sure you guys you guys talking about yourself I’m gonna be going on this this is not I cannot continue until

[8:25] I find this week so is it huh it might be hunted demon’s forge one second it sounds like a great game was it a great game I don’t know so good that I there

[8:36] okay perfect perfect interlude that makes some great podcasting hunted the demon’s forge Wow so the only reason I want to get it ready like so this game

[8:45] is like numbers of years old like it’s but it’s just it’s such a wonderful game by just a solid little well contained game but the everything about it feels

[8:55] great like it didn’t really try to expand out of its like get too big for its britches and the right like one of the best things like the writing between

[9:03] the two characters the male and the female character usually it’s some of the worst writing you’ll ever see when you have like a strong female character

[9:11] and a strong male character like the same zippy one-liners and especially when they have to interact with each other but their relationship is so

[9:19] phenomenal like it’s platonic but it’s zippy like they’re going back and forth all the time they’re giving each other a hard time he’s a little bit on the

[9:28] Dumber side like she’s battle-worn and hardened a bit cliche in that sense but still the writing of the interaction the way they talk to each other it’s just so

[9:35] crisp and enjoyable like I remember the going through the first time in liking it and the second time I think I’m liking it even better and as far as AI

[9:44] love Archer types and games and this to this day is my favorite feeling Archer mechanic as far as I grabbing a bow like gaming something and just shooting at it

[9:56] like it’s just so tight and so crisp like I enjoyed it so much when I played it the first time so having a chance to can I go through back a second time has

[10:03] been phenomenal other than that was so so well worth the googling because I wanted to get it out there if you haven’t had it like now you’d probably

[10:12] pick it up for like two bucks on steam and I would recommend it like it doesn’t take long it’s tight it’s a great game and it’s funny like it the interact

[10:21] literally one of the more mature well written simple but decent amount of depth interaction between a man and a woman has two leads whoa yeah

[10:33] like its weight and no unicorn no unicorn relations involved a gun that i think was similar to that in regards to just an interesting relationship between

[10:45] the male and female character was that enslaved game oh yeah Odyssey and the West that one was really fun plus it’s andy serkis so like yeah of course it’s

[10:56] you know he’s dinner with that but but yeah it was very I found that one was very fun and their their banter was very playful and I made the their

[11:08] interactions and that sort of asymmetrical relationship in the gameplay mechanics because she was very like there was just certain things that

[11:19] like he would only do like he was mainly the combat and she was used mostly for like puzzle solving but I thought that that was kind of an interesting sort of

[11:27] relationship between the two of them plus it was just a really fun unique looking game had some really neat design helmets to it and really create and plus

[11:37] it was based off of like you know some interesting mythology too but with a sort of fun dystopian post-apocalyptic spin on it so it was a cool and last of

[11:48] us right the male’s I will do yeah but that relationship was more like a it was a mother or father or pana yeah exactly and having that sort of that that

[12:00] eternal bond as opposed to you like a I guess it wouldn’t be a fraternal bond it’s a coed fraternal bond covered Google open hey you’re on it that’s my

[12:13] episode this time and is it did when he just called paternal not when its fraternal like what pattern all is like parental but like frat journal means

[12:21] like a brotherly like a frat house those are they looking for an old Bob so I’m looking for the co-ed version of a fraternal bond so like it’s it’s a

[12:32] platonic brother-sister sort of bond especially during like the course of advertis see the course of like a like triumphing over over hardship together

[12:46] like brother arms but like brothers and sisters and arms and finding like just a word for that I don’t know our usual practice

[12:52] like a patient Tuesday I guarantee and I said the other like I heard the handling of The Walking Dead interactive game the the relationship between the daughter

[13:07] and the father and that one as well was also incredibly well written I don’t generally speaking like the kids the way they handled a kid in that game

[13:14] apparently was really great Clement is a Clementine or something the yeah and especially our interaction with other adults like that was really great so why

[13:24] is that seem they’ve so well nailed the father or the older person with a child mechanic but not necessarily the man and the woman mechanic in the dialogue well

[13:37] this is because it can’t be distilled so simply in if there’s list ropes attached to the relationship between an adult and a child um like we’re so used to

[13:49] narrative tropes with a man and woman interacting yeah we’re so used to having to eventually boil down to romance like whether it’s in film or television or

[13:59] you know just any old story of that sense of like well they’re gonna have to hook up why are we calling their relationship but once you get like the

[14:12] that sort of parent-child relationship that’s immediately off the table and for very good reason um so instead you you you get to boil it down to just strictly

[14:27] their relationship and their personalities playing off of each other without any interference with people’s presumption of a romantic relationship

[14:39] because the age gap and even sometimes the blood relation of those two characters makes it just wrong put too many levels name as do you think it’s

[14:53] the big game mechanic to right so if you did like mother father and then daughter son whatever eight within the game you’re probably

[15:01] constantly defending them or like you know you can’t do this and your run around and it’s part of the game whereas it’s more of a relationship one you know

[15:08] you kind of is you know love and hate and you fight sometimes you’re like I don’t know if that would necessarily work in a game as I’m you think I have

[15:17] like a game or the the game is playing it’s like maybe like a like a multiplayer game where it’s all about trying to get the kid below one parent

[15:26] over the other I could not brought the boar store anything it’s not known oh yeah yeah you know it’s just trying that would be funny kid to be like like you

[15:39] know yeah but if you go too far like if you’re giving them all the candy and I can watch TV just turn to dislike absolute terror that you then have to

[15:49] deal with and then it’s like that balance of like this kid is awful and that also kind of that’s also an end-state you also lose so you have to

[15:56] have some level of discipline within its like a generational thing so like in the childhood you spoil them too much to get them to love you but then in their

[16:04] adolescence they’re really not stuff means for you so they said presenting you the repercussions of going too far the other way is like a presentment so

[16:15] like each stage of their life you have to see what choices you made and what sort of price there was for that momentary victory and it’s like oh well

[16:26] you really you pulled them really close to you there but then because of that or this it push them away in their adolescence and then the other parent

[16:34] did something to try to comfort that but it went too far that way which caused them in their adulthood to regress with the other way and just that sort of like

[16:42] weird sort of was a perfect game I think it’s a great text based game right we’ve just launched a new text based game oh man I think what’s the relationships the

[16:52] I think you both played I don’t Gavin for sure like jeff had you ever played the Mass Effect series yeah I quit too near the end of two okay I’ll say so

[17:05] because a lot of times like with relationships I don’t know why run this theme of all things but with the relationships in games a lot of times

[17:11] it’s just like check marks if you do these six good things for somebody they’ll just walk welp now we’re engaged like

[17:18] it’s easy about work thanks thanks for these for favors now will not wear deeply in love and I can’t say that NASA effect was necessarily over it because

[17:28] you were pursuing somebody and you know ultimately if you treated them in a certain kind way eventually they could become a love interest for you but at

[17:37] least it did feel like it was long like it was a long process it was nuanced in its dialogue at least it’s not like hey thanks for getting that brooch for me

[17:46] now I love you forever and it also wasn’t the primary reason for your interaction with them it was a path you could take but I found some of my

[17:56] favorite relationships with the characters in Mass Effect were non romantic um like the bond that I felt with my character and garrus or Rex um

[18:09] although they look like they’d be great at cuddling I just there was a different sort of bond with them as those that sort of um r even was her name Jack’s

[18:20] she has a politics had to saw off yeah I didn’t pursue a romantic relationship with her I was too frightened um because she was terrified just super interesting

[18:33] but just like terrifying as hell but yeah I did really like me that sort of the relationship to try to get her on the team you know become kind of a team

[18:46] player to try to get through that she’ll see I got booked mass typically they did a good job with having that romantic pathway open and always kind of an

[18:56] auction but it wasn’t the sole purpose of you interacting with them your sole purpose of interacting with them was to keep the team strong so you could do

[19:04] better and to keep that team strong so that way you can save everything um yeah II think anakin to have it be optional that was that was tough in the writing

[19:15] because usually all roads lead to Rome but in this case it didn’t and I really appreciated that it was good then curious about

[19:25] with with our kids like growing up with this and us growing up with it to an extent i do you have to do wonder if any of it has had an impact and how we

[19:33] regard social interactions in that sense and I don’t put too much weight behind the idea that like well it’s much like the arguments saying that because we

[19:41] play violent video games where in fact going to be violent as well but you do have to wonder like between media be it like a bunch of movies and TV shows

[19:49] that’s like well this is how the roles work this is how the romance scenarios work and mutton now that that’s in some ways being reinforced in some of these

[19:58] games like you guys think that’s going to be it could that play into kids having some kind of off ideas about interactions with people or is it far

[20:08] enough removed because it’s the same world where they’re jumping on mushrooms to grow up large of course thinking it’s a it’s a problem as oldest storytelling

[20:16] like it’s such an old problem that is going to be ingrained in their lives as much as it was our own yeah it’s just our fairy tales the way they’re being

[20:25] pulled are different but ever since stories have been told around always been like prince and princess and you know people trying to find love sort of

[20:34] a stone you know there was still love interest with that idea even even something as old as like Beowulf you know it was a love triangle between him

[20:48] and a witch and and his son you can awesome really that’s sorry I had to say that it was awful and I had a worst video game if you ever saw clips from

[21:01] that yeah but I do picture like a high school teenager just like talking to a girl then all of a sudden like this timer ticks by and he has fused between

[21:10] a good answer what might piss her off and just kind of ways yeah he just he just stuck there like staring blankly at her she’s looking at and like what I

[21:18] just waiting for the options to show up I’m trying to get find out what you want to hear such as teenagers do have a visible timer it’s called visible

[21:25] perspiration yeah exactly she’ll remember that before they sweat through their shirt and I never run away the yeah I guess otherwise just speak about

[21:37] some of the gaming stuff I’d done what um I tried to play battlefront star wars battlefront again couldn’t just like there was two instances when I tried to

[21:46] log on like I haven’t played it much as I got k i’ll give it a shot I’ll play some Star Wars couldn’t like it said like waiting trying to find you enough

[21:55] people and it’s like okay there’s now four people in your room and just SAT there spinning like would not let me play twenty nobody in the servers I bet

[22:04] there’s I don’t know if it’s because like I’m such a low level and at that time no one else was I went online a bunch of people are posting the forums

[22:10] saying that they were having issues finding enough people as well so it might have just been a load thing it certainly happens it’s just suffice to

[22:17] say that is especially as a dad that is unbelievably frustrating to lose that time to technical issues in a game where that they’re so adamant that like no

[22:28] this is multiplayer only okay fine let me let me play with multiple people we’re having an issue with that I’m sorry yeah I’m sure your games broken I

[22:35] can’t play that’s what the big problem was when xbox one released their you know their online security check people are like whoa whoa whoa like you mean i

[22:45] can’t play a game less i connect to the internet and you know we’re not even talking people at rural areas that don’t have the internet connection but we’re

[22:53] talking when your system breaks you can’t enjoy what you pay for right so your services are not rendered so where’s no where’s compensation for that

[23:04] where where’s like I understand them wanted to prevent theft and virus I get that but like at the end of the day if somebody took the time effort and

[23:13] resources to buy your product legitimately and you’re preventing them from enjoying the product legitimately it just becomes infuriating because

[23:26] there’s no guarantee that their servers will always be up right there’s no guarantee that that check in will always function and that’s actually something

[23:35] to that I found with destiny and just cause um I did a quick little test and played them both it kind of like a I could I couldn’t play destiny an offline

[23:45] mode because that doesn’t exist so it just caused three switching my ps4 to offline mode and then loading it up Milo times increase significantly

[23:55] because didn’t have to check in and pain with a server and check my stats against a bunch of other people even though I don’t care it still checks and compares

[24:04] the data in the background which takes a processing power which removes my ability to blow up a bridge and I don’t like those frame rate hits or even just

[24:15] load times because of some back-end status checking or verification stuff it’s like I purchase a game verify it make me enter a CD key I don’t care

[24:27] right but then once I loaded it I’m done just I don’t have to check in with you every single time I’m not a kid on a sleepover I don’t have to call home

[24:37] every 20 minutes like just let me enjoy this back if you or a pounding prepared occasion here’s remember the old books that these two have with games and we

[24:48] are girls yes if you go to page six yep go to the fourth square like what color is that yeah any instruction booklets like you know what’s on page six and

[24:58] line two word six and you enter that in I was not right because it that stopped me from playing so many games that’s right then like vest especially the

[25:09] colors that’s like what color is this read what comes this one color with you sleep cuz you can’t photocopy it right so ya know what’s gonna pay color of

[25:19] photocopies for that yeah back this money those it like with little like would they get like light like taller fast ink like are they printing these

[25:30] books on really good quality ink and paper or like in like ten years yeah they transition from like orange to yellow like it fades in the Sun God and

[25:41] that’s like yellow no it’s yellow it really needs owes no no it’s orange well it might have been a one day but my dad left it in the Sun and now it’s yellow

[25:50] or the color blind kid for that matter what color is this ah i was a bit ly right my one weakness color or even better like designers like us

[26:02] where it’s like well I’m gonna put that as a off move yeah pantone color I was literally gonna say mo yeah nice it’s just pretentious enough but it’s fun to

[26:15] say you move if it was a color being old lady knitting she would be yeah now it’s curious because the one inside the thought that you can log into a sports

[26:29] game and it does a ping home and it updates all of your rosters for you so you get delayed yeah and that but that’s that’s an amazing connected service on

[26:39] the thought that with rocket League an excellent fun game multiplayer only but like super simple you can connect them and that’s wonderful and yet somehow

[26:48] they despite all of these advancements into it especially when it comes down to a super large expensive triple a title like battlefront like star wars

[26:57] battlefront like to have that failure is so fresh is in some ways so I could almost appreciate it being a failure and at least they owned up to it in the

[27:07] sense that when i login it’s like look server issues this might not work but to say like come on then let’s play just press Start and that’s like here we go

[27:15] any minute now but any minute now any man yeah especially to when the cost of entry was so high with that yeah it’s like give us all those money okay now

[27:29] might work thanks Cheers that’s why I avoid um hopping on board with that stuff too early because i like to wait to see how the dust settles you know and

[27:41] it’s just especially as you said like being a new dad to like I even in the past I’ve had to watch that wheel spin around waiting for a server reloading

[27:53] it’s like back when I used to even have time it was infuriating now that I have such but like even today I got to sit down for the first time in like a week

[28:03] and play bit a follow but before I could do that I had to update my system and the system update itself took you know not very long

[28:13] when you’re when you only have so much time to play and it equates to twenty-five percent of your play time you know watching loading bars and

[28:21] making sure that is just like this isn’t released this game sucks yeah the open bar game sucks man the update yeah I can remember that happening a couple times

[28:32] to where it’s a big massive update so it’s like a gig yeah it’s like all right I got 30 minutes a quiet time for a game downloading four gigs of updates this

[28:41] will take roughly 27 minutes quiet hmm definitely quite a time for you you just sit there very meditative yeah forced meditation is hardly meditation at all

[28:54] the a Gavin quicken unfollowed did our have your mission have any of your missions so far been time sensitive like I logged back in for the first time in

[29:05] weeks and I’d failed like four missions that’s amazing yeah that hadn’t happened yet I hadn’t seen any progression of times I don’t know what the heck

[29:14] happened you guys like Metal Gear the only time sensitive ones that I’ve run into is like time sensitive in relationship to the game’s time but not

[29:25] time sensitive in the sense of like oh you took three weeks to get back to this game like I’ve had it time sensitive where like I failed to rescue some

[29:37] settlers or something I don’t know people not known how to fend for themselves so I got notices on that but that was I I thought they liked from my

[29:46] bread it’s just like you know how like days pass within the game itself and if you take too many days to go and assist these people then they’re good yeah must

[29:58] just be coincidence then because like i was logging back on and i think so i tend it looks like some time passes in between when you turn it off and turn it

[30:08] back on like I know you bumped your head like maybe like an hour or something like that or some some sort of like some sort of coincidence it again but no I

[30:18] haven’t like for to the best of my knowledge when you save and quit the game the bookmark stays on the page you left it

[30:26] a book doesn’t keep flipping pages while you’re gone thank you ez’n we’re a bit a little bit tight for time especially with yourself Gavin but I did want to

[30:36] ask about like baby stuff specifically and how you did on the gift front I think a big worry myself and going into it was the over-exuberance of family

[30:48] members where they like here is a little Johnny’s Playhouse and here is little Johnny’s second play house and hears you know big wheel truck in thousand story

[30:58] car mechanism go ahead and shove it into your tiny Toronto apartment now 48 very much didn’t happen like we only got a couple I’d say larger things but in fact

[31:07] they actually worked out pretty well for us ed did you guys have any issues that would like as far as I get and Jeff lagoon from a veteran okay go okay let

[31:18] me break this down sorry yeah Gavin first year is a dad did you have any issues with gifts coming in for your kid which are well meeting Jeff as a veteran

[31:25] of it have you had any the similar issues and do you now have tips on how to navigate those waters Gavin go it wasn’t your bad um I think okay Jeff go

[31:37] okay I mean any of the like very generous nature of our family was all stuff that was mostly like clothing and whatnot and we did get some toys but a

[31:52] lot of look we had like one giant toy but it was when we knew was coming it was kind of one that we had asked for specifically um and yeah it was it was

[32:02] pretty good any of the situations where you know sir family got very excited you know they they totally even admitted that it’s like yeah this is this is for

[32:14] this year really the following years won’t be it won’t be as a spoil spoil spoil kind of thing and ya know we managed pretty good actually at the end

[32:26] when the dust settled and the tree got packed away and all that we found a home for everything and so far everything’s they used to it’s not like we’ve got a

[32:35] bunch of stuff that’s just collecting dust everything we got she’s been going were able to use any of the stuff that aren’t able to use

[32:42] just due to size issues or whatnot we were exchanging that’s fine so yeah for the most part I’m very well no no giant no power wheels having to be parked next

[32:57] to the couch or any of that as a veteran we get probably half and half so half they’re really interested in and the other half we got is just sitting in the

[33:13] corner right now and it’s not like it’s not good stuff it’s just they’re not interested they’re like focused on one thing so my advice is that we usually

[33:25] hide the stuff she they’re not interested in bringing it later I’ll send it’s like a magical like surprise again like it’s oh my god this is new

[33:32] they’ll play with that and then swap it out again and then sell the old stuff and then you get new stuff in probably old stuff repeat and that’s sweet your

[33:40] money for dad yeah yeah that’s up involve and he’s just like like oh look this is the new one where we are in there you know like take the fresh ball

[33:53] and when pockets the old one and sells it like one of your people and fall out you know like what do you get yeah i got my genic you get your jack just radiant

[34:03] well they should do that should be like a kijiji jump swamp for parents oh they’re artists you’ll get it yet yeah there’s whole like sales for you buy a

[34:15] spot you sell your crap and then you get better crap right yeah we actually went to one it was kind of it in as little and small side end up being a bit

[34:24] disappointing but yeah it’s pretty much just parents setting up a table and desperately trying to get rid of mountains of toys that didn’t want

[34:33] anymore can we get some money back on this before we just donate it I got last-ditch effort yeah well I got more be other mind just like I’d worry about

[34:43] the cost the environment like the thought that like it’s perfectly good and you’re just going to throw it right into the trash like the thought that

[34:53] because some some way to you at the end of the swap you should be able to just like donated into a box where it goes off to a good home because the well they

[35:00] should just have like literally been afterwards that anything that didn’t sell go straight to value village you know and like I know what value village

[35:09] a lot of their donations or portion of the proceeds goes like the Diabetes Association so it’s like they end of so many families shop there you know just

[35:19] because there’s good stuff like there’s no you know I think having that sort of sense of like okay just at the very least let’s keep it out of the landfill

[35:30] if we can make some of our hard-earned money back because it’s still high quality and in good shape than great if not let’s just find a home for it like

[35:40] just yeah it’s still a totally perfectly good functioning toy because you know no don’t you forget go off to the island of misfits okay they’re worse is car seats

[35:51] cuz you can’t like resell them so you have to like cut the belts and put it out on the curb you’re like oh so much plastic and cloth and material that’s

[36:00] going to the dump like an we have to write so we have four car seats like a rotational recyclable what you think of that plastic could be then repurposed

[36:09] like melted down and we used for something else right maybe not a car seat but sometimes they should have like like what you waste baby waste whoa yeah

[36:22] well you’re telling me wait so even there’s no way to sell or to buy a second-hand seat even like through some old Aaron stealer there’s a lid well I

[36:31] don’t know if the legislation but there’s a certain rule in the industry where it’s I think it’s like two years or something I’ll have the double check

[36:38] that but it’s because of its a safety hazard right so if you buy second-hand to the and the Sun has been being down the plastic and who knows if it’s like

[36:48] if you’re in a car accident like a fender bender that car seats gone like it’s no good you have to get rid of it yeah so again that’s a perfectly good

[36:56] car seat it’s just something about board but yeah I just like the thought that like there’s no huge sales especially for something that’s only been and we’re

[37:02] about to change ours and again it’s not could careless to try like make money back on it but like to thought the thing is great he’s used it

[37:09] now for he’s seven months so thought that sound like the thought that okay seven months and this thing is now trash like just garbage that’s crazy you’ll

[37:18] have to check the industry standard I think it was a couple years and then you couldn’t sell it there’s still an expiration date on it too so yeah look

[37:27] at that make sure two years as harsh but Lisa like it that’s at least a little window of it yeah ideally yeah through the candle you can utilize it yeah I

[37:39] think it’s a combination of like the companies want to obviously keep selling the product but it’s also just you know the plastic will degrade over time and

[37:48] then it doesn’t meet the quality standards anymore that it needs to I think it’s also insurance companies making sure that legislations put in

[37:56] place to protect them though they’re not held liable for an injury that could have been prevented had the car seat been in better condition so it’s just

[38:06] people being extra cautious to keep themselves from kitten sued no is it search but you know at the end of the day to that if that overly cautious

[38:16] nature makes a product it forces the consumers to be that forces I’m going to get a product that’s going to be safer then it’s kind of a win-win maybe not

[38:32] for for the parents wallets but it’s at least more reassurance that it’s like well they’re in the thing it’s safe you know it’s like when was a Quebec decided

[38:43] you know everybody needs snow tires it’s like yeah it’s a pain in the butt but theme of the day you know everybody safer for it so you know alright guys

[38:53] i’m gonna call it I gotta go cuz my kids crying oh my we had a Jeff oh no no I’ll see you guys later you gets on it looking yeah i’m gonna rescue 10 second

[39:07] oh pretty I thought I just gonna be the camera on so we’re gonna get a front-row seat to that’s a Jeff drama okay for that actually ends up being a pretty

[39:15] decent time to call it yes prevents you from be the bad guy yeah great i would see now this turns into the talk of a Jeff

[39:24] show yeah exactly just let me know that Jeff guy I tell you nothing but trouble doesn’t even doesn’t even play fallout calls himself a gamer I know it takes

[39:33] naps oh wait yeah okay look naps are an essential ingredient to a happy father let me tell me oh it’s just like ever since he started sleeping through the

[39:44] night like he’s going down at six to seven and i’m also going down exactly at that time at least for one to two hours for a nap and then I wake up and work so

[39:53] it’s yeah you’re just you’re just powering through that’s impressive thing is our baby sleeping just fine but it doesn’t matter i just got too much too
