[0:06] nice the adult birth the adult beverages are poured the kids are asleep and it is time for new dad gaming a show about gaming fatherhood new fathers figuring

[0:19] out their gaming lives my name is Trevor and I have a 10 month old my name is Gavin and I have a almost nine month old my name is Jeff I had a five year old

[0:30] and a three year old I speed metal the gangs back together look at this all three that look at that now you can unlock launch party let’s do it but I’m

[0:45] drift up come on we got iron collars on and everything there we go yeah well the picture belies showing is pretty dressed up it is pretty good stuff yeah that is

[0:55] true that’s the Haven so for focus her folks on the audio yeah so for folks on the audio I couldn’t afford a video stream this week because i’m using

[1:08] mobile ur day or mobile data in a foreign country I’m so instead of have a nap yeah I like that word t can we do in moberly mo Buhler as well Bueller I was

[1:18] hoping to talk through that word blowing you know what they know but yeah anyway so but yes it’s a photo i think i think that photo of me is 10 years old and

[1:28] it’s probably about the best photo I’ve ever taken you look very mature egg that’s how I called pre kids sometimes three kids thank you yeah this is how I

[1:41] choose to be remembered just like assuming an all-knowing bubble that talks to us delivers with this smoke with a smile in a purple background so

[1:53] yeah so gentlemen how was your week in fatherhood and gain definitely one in throat sure well I guess I got a few weeks uh but it’s been pretty good we

[2:07] moved hence the change of scenery behind me oh but fortunately it was in the same building so that was nice uh so I could actually

[2:18] kind of take elevator rides and assemble furniture and just basically a simple furniture in the elevator because that’s even better oh yeah yeah let me sort of

[2:29] prep the place pre move and get that all set up which was handy so I was like angering furniture to the wall so that way when baby starts climbing on

[2:38] everything and yeah it alleviated some of the bonus difficulty of moving with a baby because that just cranks it up to 11 so it dialed it back down to look at

[2:54] an interval 10 yeah it was it was an adventure as far as gaming goes I’ve been finishing off a few games finished off just cause pencil in stein the old

[3:08] blood and i had my first experience which will probably talk about a little bit it was the first time for me i fell asleep with a game controller in my hand

[3:22] this this is setting the bar for all dads everywhere just falling asleep a courage it is oh there you you’re engaged in the game this is hard to do

[3:33] that’s what that’s the up but there’s the rub I was not okay there we go um I think that is actually better it better have been like Dallas a better been like

[3:44] a really slow quiet game like animal crossing or something if it’s like your doom or no it’s not yours not as you have to know he’s just crouching waiting

[3:56] ok so I’ll quickly explain the situation since it’s obviously fresh and you guys want to hear about it it was in the game is enjoyable don’t get me wrong I’m not

[4:08] trying to you know tear into them but the order is very cutscene heavy with a lot of a spring what are you saying is that they visit angel just kind of rock

[4:26] you to sleep just kind of just a little ol I those British whispering look over there there’s a werewolf you should go very

[4:37] quiet exactly you’ve got a moustache too it’s probably kind of yeah you watch the waves ruffling like if Mary Poppins had to deal with lycanthropes again Wow see

[4:53] now you say that and I did i just bought the order so i got on the flash sale you’re not having a great time with it yes I did you wrong way yeah yeah

[5:03] there’s also here’s the other factor too we have a new coffee table bench ottoman kind of thing I have this and I it’s hereditary my dad has it 20 if my heels

[5:15] reach a higher elevation than my hip I will fall asleep we need a diagram we need to illustrate this yeah somebody draw it up a cook but even better like

[5:28] tell me that your kid has this because that would be such a beautiful trick I think it’s something you just have to Ellen it would be a lot handier now if i

[5:39] could just be like can you imagine I you know the sheep that when they get scared they just immediately freeze and keel over it sound like that was the baby you

[5:47] just lift the feet and since is it done they could be like full-blown temper tantrum throwing away it’s like done done nice yeah one of my geez that is

[6:02] what a dad first that is just I wish there was some sort of trophy that could be given to you we should may relish and showed everybody yeah it’s probably just

[6:12] a cup of coffee it’s a statue with the heels up above the waist yeah yes hot a cup of coffee yeah it was really it was the perfect storm of dozy I was playing

[6:25] a game that was in its narrative arc was in a very quiet zone and I had a glass of scotch and my feet were up and everybody else is asleep the apartment

[6:38] was quiet and dark it was just a perfect storm and it happened Oh Ella sleep with a controller in my hand aha I woke up and

[6:49] it was still a cutscene so yes I did everybody what was the first thought what was the first thought that ran to your head when you woke up well like I

[7:02] think I might believe been asleep for maybe two minutes like I dozed it wasn’t like full-on I was asleep and like ps4 went into sleep mode it wasn’t that

[7:12] prolonged but was like you know when like you not off your heads really like like you just like well yeah it was the morning train but maybe like five

[7:21] Mississippi’s kind of thing cuz i woulda thought of as like oh god I’m I i am my father it’s happened yeah I party I’ve had that when falling asleep during my

[7:33] TV shows and stuff and it’s just like oh I’m turning into my dad and I’m starting to get a thing it’s true though like you need your afternoon naps that’s I’m

[7:43] still apply pads I think see if we ever do this show live like the three of us in the room what you’re not gonna notice Gavin is me and Jeff slowly propping

[7:51] your feet up with pillows nothing trigger yeah that’s true we should we should do that hook it up yeah it’s not that mediate it’s I have to be okay it’d

[8:05] be drinking and reclined and listening to british accents and steampunk designs yeah that’s it you have to get the recipe just ready yeah it’s really just

[8:16] been done I just need a little a little dozy and my feet up and I dumpster it’s it’s weird it’s like this I used to always feel like Midas dad always fall

[8:27] asleep when he puts his feet up after he gets home from work Mike yeah I guess maybe you had a long day it’s like no it’s just that’s what happens with my

[8:35] genial is ever post 30 like you know I felt it creeping in when I first turned 30 and then over the last you know few years has been getting progressively

[8:48] more heavier yeah is it predictable enough now that that Lindy will make fun of me sounds good it sounds like a good level

[8:58] in the new dad game versus like you’re fighting off the terrible monster that is reclined feet good induces it’s like I I’ll be noticing that I’m like oh I’m

[9:10] starting to doze eyelids are getting heavy I’m like ah I want my feet up boy I wish the vibration of the controller just woke you up like that’s the jolt

[9:23] but they did it you have a death rattle yet ya look like ya guru boo sarona sleep so that is wow it makes me so happy Jeff Oh Jeff how about yourself

[9:43] how was your weekend death fatherhood in gaming um fatherhood was good we had a couple months milestones with the kids my oldest losses first first tooth so

[9:53] that was an experience blood everywhere oh the good it was a god cuz it was bashed in or something or you got in a fight yeah sounds like he’s gonna fight

[10:07] now yeah something’s going on um but no he was had this tooth that was Wiggly for a while and finally popped like it just cracked it and okay if I could

[10:17] videotape the look of absolute terror mix with absolute excitement at the same time like clashing like he doesn’t know what to think when he has the bloody

[10:26] tooth in his hand that’s what his look was I can’t explain it but it’s like oh god he’d go one way and like scream a crying fit or he’s going the other way

[10:34] and jumping up and down with a bloody tooth in his hand so he was pretty excited yeah oh yeah yeah don’t don’t wipe it on the bed don’t wipe it on the

[10:44] bed please don’t I know we had that so we had to dive into you while we had a Google what is a tooth fairy give now like what’s the amount okay what’s the

[10:56] deal with all eight exactly I’m telling you a changes is like is it an itunes gift card do I give them an ipod I know I well based on the based on the economy

[11:06] and the current u.s. great inflation under the mortgage and put on my hat here and decent taxes give him some Bitcoin it’ll be fine yeah this

[11:54] a little Lego minifigure so they come in like separate packages so he got that weight a man a toy yeah oh man otherwise the going rate is like five ten bucks

[12:06] what yeah too well five dollars regionals gonna do yeah it’s we actually am funny stories I have a friend that their kids tooth fell out in like the

[12:19] middle of night or whatever and they had no one has any cash on them anymore well most people don’t they debit or credit is usually the going rate but tell me

[12:27] sent it by email he says it sent it by email it’s like I owe you any transfer to dollar sign the tooth her know they had twenty bucks on them so they had to

[12:37] leave the 24 the kid and the kid woke up like like mind blown because he had this twenty-dollar bill uh but they you know quickly went in there and say well okay

[12:48] well that’s the you’re like your first tooth and then after that it kind of drops down not twenty dollars each time that’s going to be insane that’s going

[12:56] to run them into the poorhouse but see I was worried that was going to go one of two ways I’d like instead of them having the two bucks to give that like the kid

[13:04] woke up and found the twenty-dollar bill but is missing like nine more tea Billy let’s make it worth it Thank You Nikki all right champ you’re eating soup for a

[13:17] while yes yeah no we found that the tuning the little Lego which is again another two bucks worked well so he was happy with that yeah I

[13:27] think that’s getting dangerously close to Christmas territory though yeah everything the present but like okay when when I was a kid I got enough for

[13:37] like maybe a candy bar if I was lucky maybe a Hot Wheel car yeah oh look now are like what four bucks for humming yeah that’s true okay but yes uh then

[13:50] you guys reached that level it might be totally different you might just give a bitcoin like you said I don’t know yeah i think i might make him pay me five

[14:01] years while he lost it to that cost you two bucks so no that’s a two dollar organic disposal fee here’s daddy’s having your tab you can just catch those

[14:13] in no but we had that as like a first milestone and then my youngest he just turned three we got him a big boy bed so there’s no mark ribs hottie train is

[14:25] locked up we have no more diapers in the house I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel just in terms of the dream I know live in the drain no more diapers

[14:35] so that’s been the actually a good experience he’s been really good with it my firstborn was not good with the his own bed he would just get up all the

[14:46] time and get out of his room but this one thinks the floor is lava or something he just stays in his bed he might be petrified I don’t know but I

[14:54] don’t her scream 2 player so he’s okay and I just have to like go get um like if you find your kid has to get up all the time just go to like the the

[15:06] fishmongers and by an octopus and just like have it poking out from under the bed and just leave it there well yes that’s true up for some reason oh ok

[15:19] this this is a bad bad story ok but you know how you can find out your kids fear so you guys will get into this when they start really communicating with you but

[15:28] my firstborn Jude was uh he was terrified of Triton in Little Mermaid terrified right so if you got out of his bed

[15:38] course Triton might come on the YouTube and talk to him saying get back in your bed or yell at him to try and turn around it and get in his room with my

[15:49] youngest he’s terrified Chewbacca so you might hear YouTube Chewbacca yell to motivate him to stop so every classic you’re actually not playing or the

[16:05] sounds of it yeah you’re playing the sounds in the background of their greatest fears oh not all night just like a little question okay little like

[16:14] that’s a reminder the Sleep Sheep to just it’s not like I have a life-size doll in their rooms or something but I just have a costume on the readies so

[16:25] you looked at the you look at the landscape of motivation yeah and you went you took a beeline for stick as opposed to carrot well we try to you see

[16:36] we got to the heuristic scary there’s so much like buying we get you baka doll like putting around the corner yeah yeah yeah well the funny part is he loves

[16:48] Darth Vader hates Chewbacca like he will he’ll of Darth Vader hates Ibaka so I don’t know it’s been tried in as well like he’s he’s a good guy suppose big

[16:58] Ursula’s terrifying right but he yells at ariel and when she’s in trouble and he loves Ursula because she’s an octopus and that’s cool so my kids are a bit

[17:12] different they’re just they like the bed guys in there that’s all but it’s it’s been good I will say it’s a good experience and then gaming wise just to

[17:23] get to that I’ve been playing the order I’ve been awake during it um but it’s been there it’s better that way shitman taciturn it’s been a good experience I

[17:33] never would have bought it full price but for like eight dollars on a flash sale yeah sign me up and it’s beautifully issue is a beautiful game oh

[17:42] yeah it’s so pretty and some of the weapon designs are really cool yeah yeah it’s got a lot of cool elements to it too right yeah

[17:49] ask you guys what you think of the how you felt with the length because I know that was a big bit of a controversy on mine just around that’s way too short

[17:57] baba how’d you guys feel about it I’m not totally done eat yeah that’s a Gavin don’t spoil it but I’m probably but no it’s been pretty good I kind of read it

[18:07] too I almost took at the first uncharted game if you’ve ever played that it had its flawless it was probably like 11 hours long so I think from reviews this

[18:18] ran like eight or something but for a dad that is a perfect length for me in between other games like I’ve got the witcher like i always talk about right

[18:27] which is a crazy amount of time and effort so for this one it’s just a short getting it out for me and to be completely honest I’m kind of tired of

[18:37] these mega long open Yeah right maps with all this stuff going it’s just like like I just grabbed a Killzone shadow fall oh right as I wanted something that

[18:48] was pretty and linear like I just want just tell me a story hold my hand walk me down the time tell me what to shun exactly yeah would you say well how

[18:58] would you describe the story would you call it like a bedtime story or we’ll put you to sleep kind of story is that what we’re doing there’s no steampunk

[19:09] British guys bowling I kept my American accents or advice pretty clear yep that’s it that’s another good one though it’s just these short stories they have

[19:22] their place right and then most people will complain that it’s not gonna run 40 hours but they’re teenagers with time on their hands like a game my lawn chair

[19:32] there’s also just the factor of like what the game is costing you like with with these games one we’re buying them later on so there a little bit more

[19:44] budget but like what if I spent 70 or 80 bucks on Killzone shadow fall mmm um just because the direction of time spent in it but like it’s also hard to price

[19:57] point it because the amount of like actual work hours that go into creating this thing price point it to make money to make

[20:06] more stuff so it’s tough like you want to support the studio’s by buying your game at full price but you also feel like you need is a finding that nice

[20:16] balance between return on your investment as a consumer but also return on their investment has a content provider so it’s it’s it’s tough because

[20:27] like yeah you want to get it on sale you want to get it for a reasonable price and but if not if you do get a full price like you feel like you want to get

[20:36] more than a dozen hours out of it because you start to compare it to like going to the movies or things like that so yeah well and people are starting to

[20:46] go one of two ways right it’s like okay you can buy let’s say battlefront right sixty bucks full game you can have a great time with it but then they have

[20:54] dlc dlc dlc right so then you’re spending more money to kind of complete this game and the order is ike well you could spend 60 bucks when it came out

[21:04] for this really well-put-together story so far and the textures and the lighting and the gunplay and that costs money to do there’s no DLC but you get the

[21:16] complete package right so where do you want to spend your money right if you don’t want it you don’t don’t buy it yea vote with your wallet right so yeah

[21:29] looks good tricky bouncer yeah so the cytosol interject them with the so speaking of long games though myself from gaming I bit the bullet and it up

[21:42] ended up buying final fantasy nine for iphone Joey did you hahaha and did it fold the trick is like I had I had to looking for that deep mobile experience

[21:52] that had really found anything and just I don’t know something about the stars just align it’s like nah this thing has to happen right I’ll say this I in the

[21:59] you know we’ve delved into some nostalgia pieces before and i could say i have only once ever had such a wave of amazing nostalgia as i did when i

[22:10] started playing this game again like it was it took me aback I couldn’t believe it like the emotions I were just come washing over me as I was going through

[22:18] it because I’d spent such good time as enjoyable and just everything at that moment with this game to be going through it again and knowing what’s

[22:26] coming up and intro the same characters like God like it was unbelievable an action in acting quickly as a side I can remember the other time it happened it

[22:35] was actually for the final fantasy 7 movie alright a full the full CG one and there is a scene in the middle when they’re fighting uh the humid or behead

[22:46] how do you say that high end well I got the home at the end because that sounds the funniest and is clearly wrong and so but you’ll be correct if I don’t

[22:57] absolutely and I cuz there’s but at this particular part of the scene there they all the old characters show up so you if he shows up Barrett the CID shows I’ve

[23:09] just one by one by one and they all get together and beat him like that was just mine belong to me i think i still get goosebumps when i watch that see Santa

[23:17] that’s in the experience of this game and I’m so happy I but I’m so happy I’m playing it like it’s just such a fantastic time and otherwise with gaming

[23:27] the has still not beaten Street Fighter 3 the arcade version oh my god buddy I’m trying and I am jus gotta do this isn’t like I looked up how to do some combos

[23:40] with some strategies and I’ll say this there’s one you can’t end because it’s a computer AI I can usually end up finding a bit of a exploit you know if you like

[23:54] the yeah he’s not very sophisticated if you jump in at this one point and like sweep kick them like hills are all done every time right but I don’t I don’t

[24:02] want to win like that because this is for me training for street fighter 5 right this is it earlier yeah a little-little background right this is

[24:10] your road two three four five championship it’s exactly so it’s so fine I could I could quote-unquote beat it like barely but I’m trying to beat it

[24:20] in such a way that I’m mastering it and like doing everything appropriately so it stay its just God sucks I Raider as I say every week I’m so bad

[24:32] at this game God like I actually have chosen anything else like rocket League but too late now you’re you’re committed you need to do this yeah I made yourself

[24:44] up even so beating like I’ll say to you one of the keys has certainly been a bit of a mind shift as far as losing but losing appropriately in a sense that

[24:54] okay in this match I’m gonna try to make sure that i punish him anytime he tries to jump in that’s one of the big ones they tend to jump in you given like a

[25:02] block or you you know giving up or cut to stop them but that’s a very important part of it so even with these computer opponents anytime they try it i’m making

[25:10] sure to punish them and of losing the match but I ninety percent of time punish his jump is so that’s good I or do like the blocking things so it’s

[25:18] certainly feeling like an education it’s just getting a little embarrassing at this point the guy literally for this ship for this show I was trying to beat

[25:26] it before we got on air cuz it’s like if I have to say again I still haven’t beat me arcade version like I didn’t want to admit it publicly no thanks good Nana

[26:07] power glove in this version is a fightstick as far as my sticks go for no no mando since go for the sum between fifty to a hundred dollars it’s an

[26:15] investment Trevor how you can be feel good need to learn on the stick it was as far as every reading on the reading online about this as far as a path like

[26:27] they do really promote the idea of playing somebody in person so I when I do get back in the country i have some plans to try to find meetup groups

[26:35] nearby where I could try to go and play with other people just try to learn as much as I can I have a lot of fears about being the 30

[26:43] the monks 14 year olds you should do that bring the baby yeah Briggs is a buffer this isn’t for me it’s for him you use like so flashy colors yeah

[26:52] you’re just trying to rock him to sleep and play everything time oh man so the so we’ll see so you know as far as that i mentioned that obviously when i get

[27:02] back in the country so we’re still down here in Columbia it’s been a fantastic time I mean jet so Jeff Amin you traveled once with your kids and I

[27:11] wonder if you have any similar experiences but ultimately I’m really astonished at how much more accepting they are babies here and kids like how

[27:21] welcoming they are of it like you go into a restaurant and all they bring around the table and everybody’s smiling like ah look at this baby this is great

[27:29] Kevin I went into a store and a woman like finds a toys somewhere behind a counter and lets them run around the store and everyone’s like happy and

[27:36] laughing and it’s great like it’s great for you to have a baby here everybody is like a wonderful a baby like this is excellent I try bringing it like you

[27:44] guys know the tribe when you bring your kids to a restaurant Canada like you’re just you are Hitler well the questions are we talking like Tim Hortons because

[27:53] we can do that but what residency even do it even then even Tim you bring it to morons and you sort yourself beside a table it’s with other people and you try

[28:03] not getting dead stairs people i hate I’ve just gotten some impression like they’re decent but ultimately just feels like people in Canada maybe to say in

[28:13] the States as well but but they just seem to hate people babies they don’t want come around we’ve actually been doing all right okay so you just hate me

[28:24] well maybe it’s your neighborhood oh like oh there you go a lot of babies um like we’ll go to like a few local restaurants and they’ll set us up with

[28:34] high chairs and like the servers will say hello sometimes like even Jason tables like customers are come over like at all at your baby we’ve actually found

[28:44] that like are at least our neighborhood very accepting of people with kids but our neighborhood like the sidewalks are just like it’s like a caravan of

[28:55] stroller all the time like a test it looks at the 401 with like tractors um for those of you who aren’t in Canada for lunches to

[29:06] highway um i ah but yeah this neighborhoods okay like i have seen moments where I’ve felt a little ostracized as a parent but for the most

[29:19] part like people are pretty cool with it but I do know of and I do know of other parents that I’ve spoken to who have been hit with those moments of like like

[29:30] oh you you spawned Mayo arrow and roz like what a let it ruin they plan it with more people just would just wait until you get to and then you go to a

[29:46] restaurant then get those stairs double or like oh god because what will happen is that usually you’ll do if you get sat in a booth or something I’ll take the

[29:55] side with the other adults on the other side right so they don’t get a kid peering over or something when you come to the zoo I know right but when you

[30:04] have to you have to split them up otherwise it’s so much worse yeah so ones with me and one of my wife and that keeps them saying but they both look

[30:14] open over opposite ends of the booth and now you’re buggin two sets of people where’s the money so yeah second the bike it might be good thus Orioles just

[30:26] to say like there’s there are certain restaurants where there’s kids in a certain restaurants where there’s not yeah yeah you know the restaurant like

[30:34] legal ooo for really really fancy meal like the restaurant that you don’t bring kids to because okay look here’s the thing if the restaurant has crayons at

[30:44] the hostess stand suck it up there’s gonna be kids there you know like so if you’re going in to eat and there’s a stack of kids menus and crayons at the

[30:54] front entrance like you know buyer beware you have to step in it would tear to dangers in might that might have families so like you relinquish the

[31:03] right to glare at the parents for bringing their children out in public instead of keeping them home in the shame

[31:10] bird [ __ ] with the Chewbacca going yes yeah like I understand if like let’s say you bring a you know a baby to a restaurant where it’s like you know like

[31:25] a Michelin star rated like a head chef that yells at a sous chef all day long like that style of restaurant if you bring a baby there it’s it’s no fun for

[31:35] the customers it’s no fun for the baby like it for the kid like it’s it’s one of those restaurants was like this isn’t fun why is everybody looks sad I don’t

[31:42] get it little fires on the table you know they don’t want to be there they want to be at a place like a swish la where they get to eat something fun

[31:51] right I hold it on a piece of paper oh yeah oh yeah i’ll give them through bones I mean ultimately like yeah it’s certainly not cuz it’s even myself I

[32:01] being a parent I would still throw shade at a parent that would for instance maybe bring your kids to keg cuz it’s yeah that’s that’s not but that’s not a

[32:11] paper it doesn’t have kids menus like that’s the thing is that the keg is meant for like adult dates um it’s not catered it’s not a family restaurant but

[32:23] please yeah but it’s also or socially or you know yeah they’re their thresholds of and then the other case would be even in places that are relatively accepting

[32:34] of it like the parents who just completely abandon it like what the kid is just running up in on yalls between those and such just like a but that’s a

[32:41] little that’s I know this place is friendly but not it’s not that’s a flagrant thought he gives those parents stinks tears even other really yeah yeah

[32:49] that’s true yeah sure you’re ruining it for the rest of us yeah especially other parents because they’re like hey keep your kid in order you’re ruining this

[32:56] like and not only that but your kids rambunctiousness is contagious and it’s going to get my kid going so get your kid back before I have to get my kid in

[33:07] Jack and it’s like you don’t want to have to be disciplining your kid because of something that was instigated by some other person’s crazy kid who they have

[33:15] no control over so but yeah I totally agree like there are certain places where there shouldn’t be and there’s also certain instances where the

[33:23] arents are at fault because they’re not really you know if your kid is really fussy and loud and starts crying take them for a walk like you know do

[33:34] something about it like be considerate of the other patrons but there are certain parents you just don’t care yo little yes I think the location might be
