[0:00] like you look at their apple cider and it’s like this is clearly targeted to young hip 20-year-olds I guess I suppose this isn’t for us like

[0:10] especially like their cans that they get like there’s no way so I got like a backup I got like a ginger beer that I was going to talk about instead but I

[0:19] found it and I’m like oh no it’s so bad I I’ll still be on the hunt it’s still a hunt I will try it but I I failed it was I don’t know it’s it’s impossible

[0:31] like it’s unbelievable I can’t believe how popul is there’s a few of them right like it just I guess it was big in the states for a while and came I read up on

[0:40] it I read the history of it I’m like what’s in it uh what makes it so good how I miss this oh just

[0:50] one you’re not I think the thing to say is like you’re not uh you’re not making it better you’re

[0:58] just making root beer worse

[1:08] the adult beverages are unfortunately poured more on that later the kids are asleep it is time for new dad gaming a show about gaming

[1:17] fatherhood and new fathers figuring out their gaming lives my name is Trevor and I have a one-year-old my name is Gavin no Gavin’s

[1:25] not here but I’m Jeff I have a three-year-old and a 5-year-old it’s pretty kind of you actually to introduce him that way as well hi I’m

[1:34] Gavin hi I’m Gavin glasses I have glasses I’m a four eyes oh my God nuts you said it yeah yeah gles welcome to another week Jeff how

[1:50] was your week in fatherhood and gaming uh fatherhood was pretty good it was hot this weekend like if anyone was side uh it was probably 40 with humidity

[2:03] 40 degrees celsius so I don’t know what the fahrenheit would convert to but we decided 300 yeah we decided you know instead of staying in an air conditioned

[2:13] room we would go to Centerville of course which is an amusement park on an island where you have to take a ferry which coincidentally it’s the same

[2:25] weekend as a national Dragon Boat Race competition so you are wedged in between Dragon boaters people that want to go jump off

[2:37] the boat into the water and other the people that go to the island for the beach uh so we spent the day doing that um the kids had a blast but it was hot

[2:49] man like I’m glad to hear they had a blast because yeah with the heat and Music Park is always like a 50/50 because if it’s too many rides or

[2:57] they’re feeling kind of sick yeah and my youngest uh was feeling kind of like he woke up with a runny nose and stuff so it was kind of all right we’re going to

[3:06] attempt this but that being said it was like our first major event without a stroller which was so like the light at the end of the tunnel another Milestone

[3:17] it’s like you didn’t have to Lug it around you didn’t have to even on the ferry getting on the ferry you didn’t have to limit yourself to the Bottom

[3:24] Rung and people bump in India trying to get around the stroller what’s the worst just trying to public transit with strollers is just oh it’s brutal you

[3:34] feel terrible it it is awful and then you feel awful cuz yeah sorry just impeding traffic and hitting people’s legs like their shins like sorry

[3:45] watching their ey everybody’s eyes like oh God here we go here’s another one man so no geez you are you are just launching ahead so no

[3:56] diapers Rolling Along no stroller it’s like they’re gonna have jobs at this rate like this is gonna be great so yeah no third kid so I’m done I’m breaking

[4:06] free that’s it yeah oh man there’s no way you’re going to Poss I would love to see someone try to convince you to have a third now that no no you’re living the

[4:15] dream yeah that would be a full restart not going to happen man the well how was your uh man Father’s day was right on Sunday how was

[4:24] that for you it was good so the kids uh they make actually hold on let me ask you first are you the world’s greatest D obviously hands down oh you beat me

[4:33] shoot okay darn there’s always there’s always next year yeah you always have to like Google okay Father’s Day creative and

[4:42] that’s what you get for Father’s Day because it seems like like his daycare in school do that exact same thing they take their game plan from the first

[4:51] result and Google and just run with it so that’s oh that’s amazing I can’t wait to try that next year yeah it was they you know they made their own stuff I got

[4:59] another mug to add to the collection that was hand painted uh and uh the uh the notes they do up where you know me you didn’t bring your mug on of the show

[5:08] I didn’t it’s at work I keep it there that’s decent I always think of The Simpsons you know like do it for her this is my I need to make it my

[5:18] happy place put some things up at work um but no it was good it was cute so after that little um I guess 15

[5:27] minute showing in the morning we ate some breakfast and then went to Centerville and sweat my butt off I was going to say that’s that’s hardly an

[5:35] event for you like that’s Happy Father’s Day lug your kids around for the now here’s the job to do yeah it’s like the it’s that Louis C K kit where

[5:45] where he’s on a show and he’s he’s having an interview and it’s like you know how was your father’s day he’s like well it’s fine except I had to spend it

[5:50] with my kids I mean it’s like great like that’s what I do every day like what’s the it’s responsibility thanks Father’s Day take

[5:59] away the kids please remind me why I became a father or didn’t want to no that was good though how about you yeah so the yeah it was great we were up at

[6:10] my folks place so I got to spend that with my dad and Happy Happy Father’s Day to him and a bunch of other siblings came up so it was a family event it was

[6:19] great um I got to sleep in that day cuz my mom like his grandma took him for the morning wow lucky you oh man I I felt bad cuz like I I like I slept right till

[6:30] like 11:00 like I just I gunned it I went nuts and I just like woke up feeling super rested slightly guilty but mostly super rested did you wake up and

[6:41] be like where did the day go because 11:00 is like all right time for lunch yeah like usually by then like I’ve been up for like six or seven hours so

[6:50] like there’s so few hours left in the day yeah no was pretty well so we ended up uh but we we came back pretty early there was a festival here in town um

[7:00] Italian Festival just on the street north of us yep that that was like a blast so we’re just walking with kids met up with another family of ours so it

[7:06] was a pretty social weekend All Things Considered and little man was a champ for mine it was a we got a ribbon with his picture printed terribly it’s like

[7:18] it’s like squashed like a little bit too wide and just like awfully plastered onto this thing with like two streamers coming down but like you said it’s still

[7:29] it’s still is very cute like it’s actually really nice you’re like a that’s like that’s sweet like what’s he going to get me like a PS4 and hint hint

[7:37] yeah wink wink next year terribly disappointed no that so that was darling that was cool to see and no it was a great

[7:46] weekend now the so as I alluded to in the in the Break um the dad challenge for this week was to try like alcoholic root beer which is

[7:58] being advertised all over the place as this huge thing so this is a curiosity and like I know Jeff you’re having the same issue I have where you

[8:05] just you can’t find it it is so popular which is amazing I was totally blown away that you couldn’t find any sort of root beer beer in uh in the either the

[8:18] beer store any other LCBO or other liquor stores I don’t know yeah I’ve been to the one I went to the one LCBO twice two

[8:27] different occasions sold out and it’s not just a matter that they’re not carrying it like no sold out yeah flies off the shelves was the exact quote

[8:35] flies off the shelves so I don’t know what we’re missing who like what’s is it was it on a Blog and like all the kids saw it and thought this is a thing like

[8:46] all those young whipper snappers yeah like 22y olds first drink but yeah so I finally found it it’s so

[8:57] bad they’ve just just ruined root beer and the best part about so the it basically it literally this is the new generations Mike Mike’s Hard

[9:06] Lemonade right and when I remember when I was too young and I was trying to drink for the first time Mike Mike’s Hard Lemonade was perfect cuz it’s

[9:15] something I could actually stand to drink I didn’t like it but I could drink it yeah and this is this would have been perfect I would have loved this as a

[9:22] teenager experimenting of the first time but it’s just like so the one I was able to find was Mad Jack what they actually call this thing

[9:31] premium hard root beer yeah premium hard root prium you get the top shelf stuff it’s like this and this is like just this is a roller coaster of

[9:40] disappointment because you take the first Sip and you’re like that’s that’s just very serviceable root beer okay and it takes such a nose dive at the end

[9:52] like it tastes so bad at the end of like the tasting it’s just like okay root beer oh God just oh it just drops and then now like the

[10:02] rest of the time that you’re going into it like that’s going to be your experience you know you’re you’re really selling it to me I don’t know I the

[10:11] problem is too like I I I’m trying not to come out from a snobbish perspective if um if you love it and you want to get I I would implore everybody to try it

[10:19] cuz it might be your thing I don’t know may like maybe those M hard lemonades and those alcoholic fruity style stuff that’s your bag awesome give it a shot I

[10:30] I would tell everybody to try it cuz especially since it’s new and it’s you can’t get it in a city you got to try it you got to give it a shot right yeah

[10:38] yeah it’s just yeah like if and I love like root beer was my jam like I was that was my go-to pop when I was a kid right like what do you want I’m like oh

[10:47] root beer so so is this ruining childhood memories like you’re just drinking it gring yeah let’s uh let’s go for this

[10:58] here that healthy sip well that was a little better that wasn’t such a drop off okay it’s growing on you yeah it’s growing on me yeah I’m

[11:08] telling you it’s just like yeah it’s in some ways those first couple sips maybe like it was just me climatizing to it that one tasted a lot like root beer

[11:19] so yeah it’s root beer it’s alcoholic root beer I’ll I’ll ease off a little bit my first sayings I I’m going to keep drinking it

[11:27] through the show my intention is have this finished I will re r-r this one after and see what we think but uh after it gets a little warm too a little

[11:39] little lukewarm yeah wow and there’s multiple varieties right like there’s different companies that make it all different ways I’m sure

[11:49] there just like it didn’t last it didn’t it’s a promise of root beer and then it just like it just turns at the end sour it’s

[11:57] just weird uh I don’t know it everybody like I’m telling you try it get out there give it a shot cuz it’s and maybe a couple varieties like

[12:06] I’d be kind of curious like if how M Street did it because I usually like their stuff so much but flying off the shelves that’s the

[12:13] part that it’s it’s it’s interesting enough that it exists but like the fact that it’s that popular yeah I know and they look at you weird like you want

[12:22] that but I guess been answering that question all week all summer oh man so did you uh you get a chance to play

[12:32] any games this week I actually went a little bit retro well retro being like five seven years ago um I found my old version of Company of Heroes for PC and

[12:46] it’s kind of like a real-time strategy I was always into it when I had a PC and then I switched to Mac for work so I couldn’t run it until I got a new Mac

[12:54] and could uh like emulate it like through a wine wrapper so playing that that was pretty cool it’s um kind of like you have to capture zones and uh

[13:04] those zones give you the resources you need to build uh supplies so you need like gas Munitions and then there’s like capture points that expands your

[13:12] territory so it’s kind of a neat way of not resource collecting but kind of holding different areas and everything’s destructible right so you get a tank you

[13:20] can just Ram through a house that’s loaded with snipers and it’s just a neat uh it’s a neat throwback I always love that game I just I got detached from it

[13:30] from the with the computer issue um but it was good to jump back in and then another one that uh just went on sale on PS4 um was Battle Battlefield 4

[13:42] for5 oh man so I jumped in that wow I wanted I’m like okay I’m gonna get my butt kicked right because I used to play Battlefield back in the day but I

[13:52] haven’t touched it in a while they have newbie servers which is great yeah it’s amazing I’m not that bad against other people that are not that bad so it’s

[14:03] good it was fun and then I stopped that’s important too I mean especially with that that capturing fun especially in that type of Team environment with on

[14:13] a game that people can be amazing at and hate quote unquote noobs oh yeah that’s great to hear that they have something set up so you can enjoy it like have fun

[14:21] that’s awesome yeah cuz I didn’t know any of the buttons and I’m trying to like scope through the one gun and it’s not working and I’m pressing the wrong

[14:28] button entirely but then I realized that uh the guy beside me that’s trying to fire at me is doing the same thing so we’re both like running around not

[14:38] knowing uh what to do so it was good like all right so you grabb the helicopter ohe oh helicopters don’t even go there

[14:46] they just crash and burn immediately so oh but yeah that that was my gaming week nice so the um so I picked up uh there was a humble Humble Bundle that came

[14:56] around and it had one game that I’ve been very interested in absolute drift no I haven’t heard that one but is it is cool it it’s an isometric uh super like

[15:06] a bit of a polygon like very paired down style okay um so you’d think it’s not necessarily about um they call it you’d almost want to call it like a

[15:15] Zen um Driving Experience so you’re in this isometric view so top down um static camera and you’re just zipping this little car around yep and it’s on

[15:28] this super white um plane with like nothing in the background you just seem to be on this platform these little red dots okay you’re just taking this little

[15:37] car and producing these like beautiful almost calligraphy like skid lines as you’re doing your drifts and that the whole point is to kind of go around

[15:45] these tracks around these circles and get as close as you can to pins and hit these boxes okay so it ends up being it’s it’s literally like paint strokes

[15:53] but with a vehicle that you’re driving in this super minimal beautiful Design Land Escape like it’s incredibly chill it’s very like beautifully done just

[16:04] cute little like great little concept and a lot of fun feels great to play with so yeah great just you know great little

[16:11] win that’s that’s a cool little game and I’m glad it like came on for sale i’ had my on it for a while is it like a never ending one or does it have levels like

[16:18] does it so I think it has like a an infinite mode if you want to just like hop on and just zip around and have a great time but then there’s also uh

[16:25] levels so like you get it’s a you know it’s you’re racing through this particular track and then can you basically drift the entire time and hit

[16:33] all these blocks and right you know do other stunts and such but uh yeah it’s all as you say drift and racing you’re thinking it’s just like high intensity

[16:41] adrenaline pumping I’m thinking like Need for Speed so it’s like a aggressive Need for Speed it’s complete notd it’s could it could not be more Zen and calm

[16:52] whilst having a car and drifting so yeah and then again like like I said it’s it’s like a paintbrush it’s a beautiful like calligraphy on blank

[17:02] white Services it’s so cool absolute drift I’ll have to check that one out yeah and if you check on the Humble Bundle I think they got it going for I

[17:08] think another week you might be able to snag it nice so otherwise uh got into OverWatch and still still been playing that having a lot of fun I usually I

[17:17] seem to be able to it’s perfect because it’s like I finish up like work for the night or whatever I’m doing I’m like H I’ll grab a couple matches and that’s

[17:26] literally it like two matches you know have a lot of fun to get out funny thing was like I decided to play around with some new Heroes and like learn their

[17:33] abilities and they have this Mode called like versus AI so I’m like okay I could just like go putts around it’s just me it’s not just me it’s turn it turns out

[17:44] it’s you and other humans against AI so oh okay yeah CU so I had all these teammates and I did clue in for like five games but I had all these these

[17:55] teammates with like you know like West Coast snipers 75 and like Johnny like like what would sound like actual gamer names I’m like wow these guys really

[18:04] yeah wanted to make this feel real and then at the end of the game they’re like man they should really Nerf this guy like good game good game I’m like did

[18:12] they write chat Bots into this too I’m like wait a minute hold on there’s live video you’re real like I’m doing this with real people [ __ ] cuz the best part

[18:22] do like I’m running around like an idiot cuz I’m just trying to like learn the abilities right so I’m hardly focused just

[18:29] about having a time in my life I’m like oh no on the other end what is that guy doing he’s spinning around in a corner trying to fire off the special weapon or

[18:38] whatever yeah he like why does he keep Wast what is he shooting at like what’s this guy doing he’s not even trying so like oh that was a that was a stark

[18:46] realization like oh no be better if it was like mic enabled so you’re just talking to yourself just rolling their eyes like I don’t think

[18:55] you can hear us yeah going for the ha they’re like man why is this guy talking so much I’m singing into the microphone having a great time uh you can have M

[19:06] this whole game you can have mic chat if you want okay I I’m not gonna have mic chat no why would you it’s more just it’s for them like if anybody’s getting

[19:14] super serious and they want to yell at me for not doing something like I just don’t want to I prefer to be ignorant and having a wonderful time like I am

[19:22] you need like piano music as you play just your own little world got to stay calm it’s the first person shooter it’s a multiplayer one

[19:30] I’m scared yeah I don’t want to endure all the the hate okay so dad’s watching E3 it has been a couple days since the whole thing wrapped up it’s been a

[19:41] generally well-received conference like people seem pretty stoked about the entire thing which is great like the and yeah it’s wrapped up

[19:50] and I think we still just have the list to try to go through um before we do like was there is there any big takeaway for you from the event like something

[19:58] got you particularly excited um I actually really liked uh Sony’s conference in general just with the live Orchestra like if you watched it um they

[20:10] didn’t come out and have you know the director or the producer of the game talk about it say why it’s the best thing that you’ll ever play in your life

[20:18] and then show the video they just it was just game game game and gameplay right it wasn’t even like all trailers they had people playing the games they had

[20:27] the live Orchestra going to the game uh I think God of War was the one that stood out for me because it was the most drastic change like if you’ve played the

[20:36] God of Wars it was all like like like Ura just split people’s faces open and violence violence how brutal can we get and all of a sudden this new one is like

[20:46] he’s got a kid you have to take care of the kid very like he’s talking to the kid not companion Quest like Quest it was a total like emotional Kratos versus

[20:59] like I’m going I still had violence in it but and he has a beard like it’s all Norse myth mythology now he looks more badass than ever it’s was like wow they

[21:09] actually like talked about this and made sense of it all instead of just doing another like remaster or rehash of everything again so that was probably

[21:18] the one that stood out to me yeah they really grizzled him up for that uh yeah that video the drinking beard yeah I know I I say is um I think

[21:31] I like the Microsoft stuff especially like with the hardware um I I don’t particularly know that I’m going to get any of that Hardware I say

[21:41] I’m certainly intrigued by it and especially the prices have come down the devices look gorgeous like the the white Xbox

[21:47] slim 1 s that’s beautiful on the white yeah and so much smaller like the first one huge and Loud too like it was it had a separate

[21:59] fan outside for the power brick like that thing was a beast so this new one is like streamlined and beautiful and you know the excitement about Scorpion

[22:08] or Scorpio is it Scorpio yeah yeah Scorpio that they announced like that’s it just the entire in that entirey it sounded kind of exciting that was

[22:15] interesting and like it it certainly makes me almost want to get an Xbox so I’m still holding up for the psvr yeah um

[22:24] and no man’s Sky which is you know again that’s that’s that Shining Light for me is that I slowly go towards but that actually that has a date now so that’s

[22:32] October mid let’s call it mid October for psvr yeah we’ll see yeah it’s it’s kind of it’s kind of hard to take on faith like that I have a hard time

[22:42] believing that’ll actually launch but right because it was June like it should have been now they pushed it back was it yeah it was supposed to be now and then

[22:49] they pushed it back I think even to August and then I’m not sure so it’ll come out eventually it’ll happen it’ll happen you’ll get your no man sky and be

[23:01] lost that’s it you just don’t I’m not on the podcast anymore I’m just out in space play it during the podcast just have your goggles on and just sorry guys

[23:10] guys guys you got to see this believe it but uh yeah if we run down the yeah overall I just it’s cool it’s cool that they had a you know big fun event like I

[23:21] I’ve generally heard great reviews on it and I think we came away with it kind of excited and good on the industry that was a good conference that was great not

[23:28] expecting anything right like I was expecting kind of a same old same old kind of thing but they one uped it okay so we just covered the MS stuff as far

[23:37] as their um I mean four like there’s 4K gaming which both like that the PlayStation is going to be getting into uh Xbox andoun it with their

[23:46] Scorpio I guess 4K TVs I don’t think it’s G to happen there’s no way they can do 4K at a proper frame rate if they can’t get 1080

[23:56] down like there’s too many games out there that are sub 30 frames a second it’s yeah it seems too dependent on developers that are already kind of

[24:03] squeezed like yeah and then to make it crossplatform too right so I guess that’s proba texture thing what’s kind of interesting though I heard someone

[24:11] else talking about this that with these different levels like right now on PC like you and I buy the same game yeah um I have a potato computer you have a

[24:20] beast like mine stuff mine will only output you know like 720 and no Shadows nothing nothing nothing and it’s it works it you know works pretty well you

[24:31] have the Beast so you have it just like Absol you have it 4K like buddies of mine that I work with have 4K gaming Rigs and 4K monitors yeah and it’s

[24:40] possible and they do it and they have fun and like they have their big games and as far as I understand especially now that it’s if that started to work

[24:47] like PCS in some ways where it’s like depending on the type of Xbox you have it just upscales or down scales it for capability yeah like

[24:59] I don’t know like those 4K machines that you’re talking about are pretty expensive like oh yeah for the card in there that has to work at all right so

[25:07] they didn’t announce any sort of price for Scorpio but I can only imagine they’re talking 4K 4K Scorpio is GNA cost them quite a

[25:18] bit of money unless they’re selling at a loss right like that’s yeah so so I think what to do is you just take your kids out of

[25:25] daycare cuz you can’t afford it yes you plop them down in front of the 4K TV and they should be they should be enamored by the picture and they won’t want to

[25:34] they won’t need to go to daycare Esports get them in gaming exactly Mone absolutely so the the TV the Xbox becomes the their daycare their

[25:46] teacher their father figure in many ways who are we kidding they play Minecraft in 4k that’s all they do oh the okay so we have um uh Dead

[25:56] Rising was also announced guess as an XBox exclusive that’s okay sure I guess like it’s it’s like another one like I used

[26:04] to play the other I don’t know it didn’t it didn’t seem like evolutionary it didn’t it’s just like another it’s Christmas theme too which is odd I guess

[26:14] it’s coming out at Christmas probably yeah okay so one that got announced was um we were just talking about before the show but steep which on the previous

[26:22] episode I talked about it’d be great to have a new Tony Hawk and this is kind of it because there was a I once got this game uh it was a mum game as far as a

[26:31] parent trying to buy a video game cuz you kids like these video games right well this the one they said at the store that everybody liked and it turned out

[26:38] to be awesome it was uh Shawn White’s uh big snowboarding Adventure or something to that regard um yeah kind of an open world snowboarding thing it it was amaz

[26:47] it felt fantastic as far as the physics and you going down the mountain and not a lot of pressure as far as like particular events like you can go into

[26:56] them but otherwise you just hop to the top of the m mountain and a lot of great moments like it was a fun fun game and I’ve liked snowboarding games so this

[27:04] one there’s snowboarding skiing um wing suit like you can get into those Wing suits and just oh neat yeah yeah yeah there’s a

[27:12] paragliding so it’s basically like you get it’s going it’s all about going at the top of the mountain and then finding some way down to the bottom with buddies

[27:21] and across I think like might be the mountains in the mountain range in Colorado okay is it like multiple vehicles at once I’m thinking a Motor

[27:29] Storm kind of idea that is absolutely perfect that’s exactly it cuz cuz in it what they have is like they have the you know paragliders like flying down and

[27:36] then the guy in the skis like jumps over top of them and okay yeah that could be neat yeah yeah just it looks like it looks like they’re kind of concentrating

[27:45] on the fun part of it like the absurdity of throwing yourself down a mountain on pieces of wood or like hanging by Thin veils of cloth as you go down so it’s

[27:56] those wings suits man they scar living crap out of me I don’t know how you do that but yeah well now you can imagine that in VR no VR there you go I’m not

[28:06] sure they announced the but you’d have to think get my diapers back so we have uh let’s see here the psvr announced it’s available in the US

[28:17] I don’t know if that means in Canada at the same date I kind of feel n probably I guess actually I guess the current console releases have been it’s probably

[28:25] pretty close together it’s just a matter of price pricing at that point which is crazy here so that’s my that’s my drop off day and I’m off into

[28:34] space there’s H so got of War Viking reboot we just talked about last Guardian release date finally do you actually believe you think it’s gonna

[28:42] happen though I hope so it’s been like one of those games that is in development hell forever and you just hope it’s good at the end of it because

[28:50] it had so much promise when it was announced what 10 years ago now it was almost like PS2 cycle I think but that point

[28:58] it looks kind of F I don’t know like I it’s not like groundbreaking it was just supposed to be like Shadow of the Colossus kind of feel kind of but it

[29:07] just like I guess for me like it just feels a bit that type of game is as cool and beautiful as it looks and I always like that type of game as far as having

[29:15] um a nice aesthetic and some interesting mechanic the problem is it just feels a bit contrived as far as like you come up to a challenge and like oh there’s a big

[29:23] wheel for your bird animal thing and there’s a small wheel for you how perfectly convenient you know like there’s not like a lot

[29:32] of imagination or investigation as far as like what are some ways we can use some things it’s just like set pieces where well the big piece goes here and

[29:41] the little piece goes here yeah and then press X and then now you move on to the next one I really hope they’re hiding something like it’s more like Shadow

[29:48] Colossus where it was like an open like you found your own way but IO wasn’t like that iiko the kind of prequel to shadow of Colossus was very

[29:58] like like you describe right set pieces in a dungeon you’re getting up to like this part of the castle so we’ll see I’m excited for but

[30:07] I’m not going to be day one yeah it’s it’s got a great pedigree obviously I mean with being in that world of Shadow glosses and IO like you’d have to think

[30:16] if nothing else even if it a bit set PC it’s probably going to be a great experience we’ll see I’m hoping okay uh Detroit become

[31:15] I saw on screen in VR there’s no way there’s no way I’m walking down a dark hallway in VR they’ve doubled up it’s it’s more

[31:25] Akin as I understand it to geez uh what was the Super SC PT the super scary demo yeah yeah so I think they fed off some of that right because

[31:35] that wasn’t happening anymore so they definitely went back to the horror right it used to I think six was a very actionyoutube

[31:58] to see any of that stuff like that that would keep him up for weeks or not right he’s just Stone Cold and then like 10 years later he comes

[32:07] out of the was traumatized Star Wars Battlefront in VR that’s kind of neat I think that’s more

[32:15] of like a like a concept kind of piece it looked neat but again I hope it’s like a $5 DLC for your VR set or something I

[32:25] don’t know it feels like it’s just like a camera like like to think they release it it’s funny because they just released a new bit of um there’s a article I read

[32:34] they just released new a content for it like a new uh sky base I guess where or Lando colian was okay and it’s like and you can get it for 15 bucks and it’s

[32:45] just like oh yeah or whatever yeah yeah it’s like you with the with the personal awful experience I’ve had with it just a

[32:54] thought of putting any more money if they wanted to try to get me to play it again which I again I’ve not touched that in ages if they wanted to try to

[33:01] get me to play it again and they said hey you got to check out these Maps or these modes maybe but man like no trying to ask me for more money when I regret

[33:10] this as much as I do no so you’re getting this one I guess right oh man I’m so far I’m still figuring out some way to

[33:18] sell some digital code I just sell my computer to somebody with a loaded um Batman and VR I didn’t demo to this one did you see it uh I saw it a

[33:30] little bit they didn’t show much but it’s just basically you put on like the cowl of Batman and go around but I’m not I don’t think there’s much gameplay to

[33:39] it so I’m always worry about uh like firstperson Shooters if this is what that is like a first- person interactive thing in VR I think would be very

[33:48] difficult to room that you’re in it’s kind of odd to I don’t know just like if you have uh if it’s any of the gameplay with any of

[33:58] the gameplay from the recent games as far as jumping up to the um go goblins gargo and sneaking down like inverting so you could like drop down and pick up

[34:08] people like trying to keep up your head would be messed up from that I don’t know how they’re going to pull it off but I guess that reaction was pretty

[34:15] pretty good on that one but could be fun uh so Final Fantasy 15 this stupid in VR and then else they had a VR portion of it sure it’s not good like and I’m a

[34:29] final fantasy nut and the demo for Final Fantasy 15 was just not for me it was man it was I would say like I don’t know if they just it seemed like it was an

[34:39] awful demo because yeah the one that I saw he was battling this huge uh Rock creature it was ginormous like it was unbel it was so cool to see how big he

[34:48] was and these guys are battling against it but he was doing terrible like he was just getting like he kept doing like the sweep move where he’s just sweeping them

[34:57] all and he kept falling and like he didn’t get any hits in yeah he like this looks miserable it do yeah like I don’t know if you’re just bad at this game or

[35:05] it’s like insanely hard but that doesn’t seem the sca the scale is certainly exciting like how that is impressive right like the whole open

[35:13] world even like the aircraft all the detail they’ve put into it but yeah the demo didn’t sell it for me so I’m a wait on that one yeah with some of the

[35:22] roaming part reminds me of Final Fantasy um 12 oh yeah with like an active battle kind of yeah so and I think like if it’s if they capture that

[35:34] roaming element and the battle part of it I’d be interested because 12 is another one of my favorites they’re remastering that one too yeah that’s

[35:41] gonna have to be a pickup it’s not it’s not on mobile though and playing uh nine on mobile has been perfect yeah I don’t think that would be mobile for a while

[35:49] just like man I don’t know there’s something CU it’s like on planes on slow bus rides on um before going to bed like put putting in 10 minutes but like

[35:58] sitting down in front of a computer for all that time is going to be I don’t know like that’s that’s dedication I have um I didn’t mind Final

[36:06] Fantasy jeez which which the one with lightning is that 13 yes yep I didn’t I liked it but it was okay you know enjoyed it like had a good time with it

[36:16] yeah it’s part of a deal I got X2 right or like 13 DH two I did not play that game and it’s just like man I don’t I don’t know if like with like

[36:27] responsibilities I don’t know I could drop the time to beat this thing like that’s a that’s you got to put in 60 hours

[36:35] right you got to think that any Final Fantasy game is at least 60 hours if not grinding or going to far parts of the world it’s going to be a 60 hour game

[36:43] for yeah for minimal experience and and like what is that like six months of dad time like yeah your kid’s like five years old dad are you done yet Dad

[36:53] please come to one of my school plays play another game can’t save your can’t save guy at your school play can I

[37:04] boy oh so it 15 looks kind of cool depending how they pull it off is it coming to PC or is that a PlayStation exclusive I think it’s PC as well okay

[37:37] so all the demos that you mentioned like you know the Resident Evil 7 the Star Wars Batman Final Fantasy 15 all seem like pre-existing games right so I think

[37:47] like strapping the VR on it seems to be trying to sell it as a thing rather than develop a new game for it um like specifically for cuz you can play all

[37:58] those games well except for the Battlefront one in that experience like you can play with a controller so you can do the Resident Evil with a

[38:04] controller be non VR and then they’re kind of saying okay but now you can play the entire game with VR like so it’s not like it’s not like they design the game

[38:15] with that in mind per se they’re just kind of hey we can also do this and I’m having flashbacks to like the move controller and the PSI camera where they

[38:26] said you know this is this is everything we’re going to do this even connect like hey look look at all this cool stuff you can do and then nobody uses it like

[38:35] because that’s a lot of money to drop on a VR system uh to adopt it and you got to think that they do have to get the ball rolling to get the games going

[38:45] but unfortunately we don’t have the benefit of playing it but um I’m a little bit hopeful for it um so there there’s the instance like I said like

[38:54] Super Hyper Cube where it’s not just trying to throw you on into a battlefield it’s actually like an entire space created with that type of

[39:02] aesthetic and that type of um control scheme in mind yeah yeah and that’s interesting there like and then for instance like the one of the launch

[39:09] titles on the PlayStation side with the Mech uh Warriors it’s like Arena Mech combat oh what’s it was that oh they they did

[39:20] it okay I think they’re the ones that did it yeah so that’s a good pedigree but beyond that like I had a I read a review of it and what they found

[39:26] interesting is there was a normal control scheme you’re just looking at the screen you have a controller great but when you put on the helmet part of

[39:33] the looking or like the head tilt I guess where like what you could control the vehicle that way okay so they had built it with that in mind and he was

[39:42] surprised at how intuitive it was cuz you say that you’re like oh you got to learn this whole like yeah flimsy way of doing it he’s like it was incredible cuz

[39:50] I got in and it I just moved my head very naturally and that’s the way the machine went so it became part of that experience although

[39:58] there’s probably that worry about that too like you’re going to do like an hour match and you’re just like just flopping your head about the

[40:04] move around got all these insurance claims here I got whiplash again and it’ll be a whole different strap just to keep your head within a certain radius

[40:11] so you’re not like it’s going to be the Wii the wi Moe disaster all over again except with people’s necks no but those those experiences are

[40:20] cool when they have that in mind and they can design for it I’m just worried that you know you’re going to get all like the Wii type mini games that come

[40:27] out and they’re not exactly thinking about it they’re just kind of doing it as a concept like hey you can do all this cool stuff it’s neat and then it’s

[40:36] lost forever yeah I’ll be I’ll be curious because ultimately like no man’s Sky it’s the scale and the scope and the capability stuff you can do like that’s

[40:47] super interesting VR seems like such an amazing part of it because you get to be in it and like look around and like that’s your parti but is it is it so

[40:56] core to game in particular like I’m pretty sure I’d enjoy if it was flat as well but um yeah it it going to be curious how to knocks out it feels like

[41:06] it’s got a lot more steam than connect and move like those those those truly felt gimmicky that like those felt like a complete um reaction

[41:16] to the Wii’s success yeah right at the time like the Wii came out families kids loved it I mean that what an amazing family device that thing was I don’t

[41:27] know if your kids ever got into the Wii like the shake any of the shake games or dance games or things yeah my uh my oldest did and he can do uh all the

[41:35] little Wii mini games himself and then Mario Kart he has it’s funny watching him going from controller to the Wii Mario Kart because you’re tilting it

[41:43] right he’s like I don’t want to do this and I remember back in the day when I was first learning video games and my cousin uh would do the same thing like

[41:52] she would rotate the but it wouldn’t work oh just yeah like you shake it to the side like it’s it turn more left oh yeah like hey seen but your esport pro

[42:04] kid was so good he didn’t need it’s like why is this gimmick I don’t get it I don’t get it I’m past this this is ruining my performance knock it off the

[42:14] lag on this oh so it I guess I have hope for it but I think we’re talking about an industry that’s had a terrible track record with extra peripheral so I have

[42:24] to see how it goes yeah okay let’s see we can crash through these a couple more so Call of Duty infinite Warfare I don’t know I’m done with Call

[42:33] of Duty but I’m sure there’s there’s a there’s an audience out there for it yeah it’s basically it’s it’s a it’s a different type of Madden you know it’s a

[42:40] different sports game it’s a different NHL or um like I said Madden just for every year is kind of a new installment space now well seems like they’re going

[42:48] out I mean if they do some interesting things if it’s just pew pew but on the moon as opposed to pew pew on the ground then nothing but I mean if they

[42:56] introduce some cool space mechanics along with it like I don’t know maybe it maybe it turns out a ton of people like it if they stay true

[43:04] to the roots enough and give enough um revigor invigoration that’s not word they re I love your made of words I love them you kind of knew what I meant when

[43:13] I said revigor though you think what it could be a it could reinvigorate the series and be something kind of cool they showed some neat things like you

[43:23] float through space and all of a sudden you like magnetize your boot boots and then you’re running across the spaceship which is kind of neat but yeah so like

[43:31] all of a sudden it’s not like a three just a a plane with gravity it’s like yeah you can imagine like the entire map just being a cube and you’re like

[43:38] jumping on different sides so uh Crash Bandicoot remaster sure I don’t know if i’ I’d ever want to play a Crash Bandicoot

[43:49] again yeah I yeah as a downloadable thing maybe but not a full game yeah the Skylander imaginators this was pretty cool for dads so what they showed was if

[44:02] anybody knows Skylanders with this stupid like amiibo type stat actual toys right like to like 30 bucks a shot um they’re about 15 but that’s not so much

[44:12] better like it’s not because there’s characters and then there’s like Little Weapon inserts so those weapon inserts unlock parts of the game so you have to

[44:21] get certain material ones like the Earth One unlocks the Earth sector so you can go in in there but if you have the wrong character you’ll die so so it’s physical

[44:31] DLC yeah but with this one I’m not saying I’m getting it it was neat for dads Because they showed drawings of kids like or kids drawings not drawings

[44:41] of kids that’s weird um drawings kids did uh of their own little characters that they’ve created just drawing it and then somehow it scans it in and it’s

[44:53] live 3D and then you’re playing with it and you’re like a assigning attacks to it so they showed like this banana man with like spaghetti arms and like googly

[45:04] eyes and stuff and it was kind of neat to see um like your kids like Creation in life well not in life but in in the little three 3D World so that is really

[45:13] cool and it sounds like it sounds like it hearkens back to one of your great dad gaming experiences with uh was a terar away that you were draw yeah

[45:21] exactly yeah that’s probably why I was kind of like oh kind of perk my ears up a little bit I’m like that that might kind of neat if it works because I’ve

[45:29] seen some like face scanning technology and like yeah get your game in the basketball game it’s wicked you scan your face and you email it in and you’re

[45:37] on a character and it’s horrible like it’s just looks awful so you don’t last thing you want is your kid crying because their character doesn’t look

[45:45] like what they envisioned they suck it’s like like the characters of your imagination are terrible at this game yeah like not

[45:53] dealing with a crying kid that’s they if they died just like Dad stop make him stop already dead Mr Binky no okay so maybe it’s a bad game well

[46:05] we’ll see no that is cool that’s that that is an interesting interactive element and it plays on something that happens so naturally with kids anyways

[47:26] gameplay like it was all in game engine U but might not be the final game I’m interested but it’ll be like five years from now so man that long seriously that

[47:36] long he takes forever and I think that’s what Konami didn’t really like about him he just they need to put his games to market right and he’s just a he’s a

[47:46] creative he likes to like perfect his vision a true artist yes money what money budget I’ve never besides some metal gear one I’ve never really played

[47:57] much of his stuff so be kind of a oh you that’d be jumping into like pure gojima yes like zero to 100 oh man this root beer is making me uh lot of

[48:45] Playstation like it was just it was unbelievable what they achieved it was mindblowing you’re like I can’t believe I’m Spiderman in my own City this is

[48:52] amazing yeah climbing on walls like the combat like that was a blast that was a great game draw distance you remember the draw distance like looking back on

[48:58] it now it’s all like you go to the top of the skyscraper you couldn’t see the bottom cuz it just fogs out that was such a clever way to get

[49:07] around it constant fog yeah um and day’s gone that’s a neat new one so I’m a big Last of Us fan but this one looked like it was um that last of us kind of vibe

[49:20] like an apocalyptic Wasteland with instead of like one zombie or two which I guess I guess they’re not zombies they clarify later that they’re Fair All

[49:29] Humans so they can think and act in hordes and like a kind of like a pack of wolves I guess uh it’s just a number they were achieving like the number and

[49:38] they were going down and piling up and they were climbing over the pile so just that alone is kind of cool and freaky and navigating that world kind of a

[49:49] different different IP on it so yeah if they take I mean if they take the quality that was last of us and they apply

[49:57] the latest advances in the software CU yeah yeah cu the one I saw like they open up the K like a car from a train and just

[50:07] the the volume and like you said like how there like I couldn’t believe the number of free moving and fast moving things on screen and then as they were

[50:14] falling and then they’re like climbing over top and they’re pretty smart about it like because that is an element of Terror like just being completely

[50:21] overwhelmed because at the moment like there’s this a limit it’s like 20 things on screen yeah yeah I’m done yeah the closest thing would probably be the if

[50:30] you remember like Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 it numbers were pretty impressive like just like the sheer volume like how the heck is there’s so many but if it’s

[50:40] that but like modern graphics and Last of Us storytelling yeah maybe that could be kind of a one to watch right so yeah especially if it’s kind of like a um

[50:48] there that might be a good uh a dad game to stream if all of us can like go in and try to like surv survive I died the first level I couldn’t find

[50:58] my way out jeez and last for us will be Nintendo and basically just Zelda just Zelda only Zelda but it looks great

[51:11] looks amazing it looks like another Zelda game it does in a great way looks phenomenal it does they captured like the old feeling of Zelda but that was

[51:20] just Zelda it’s just and much much like that the game we just talked about it’s just it’s the same thing but they’ve just taken advantage of the hardware and

[51:28] just the size of the world the Fidelity of the action the scale I think the scale more than anything is just especially with some of the horse

[51:38] running thing like that really felt like the exploration exploration feel from arcar of time yes despite how limited it was but ultimately like that first time

[51:48] you got out to the field and then you got the horse yeah like that was that was incredible but the thought that you could apply that to a Skyrim

[51:56] amount of world like like that’s cool it looks like they took their time on it right like they’re thinking about like recapturing that and then also using the

[52:05] latest well not latest tech but enough of it right they didn’t go all out it’s kind of a mix of uh like Wind Waker Aesthetics with more modern Twist on it

[52:16] so it’s not quite so cartoony but uh it’s really neat I not going to buy a Nintendo for it but I would like be for the new console or is it going to be for

[52:28] wiii they said it was for both so it’s the Wii U and the NX whatever that’s going to be but it will be like their NX launch like it will be the game to get

[52:40] is what they’re saying at least so is is NX this year because they haven’t released anything about it they haven’t announced anything so I I don’t know I

[52:49] think probably uh I think online it’s March I think they’re thinking March but of next year which might be too late right with

[52:59] Scorpio coming out that fall and jeez yeah like that’s po Nintendo my kid loves it still my kid’s trying to go through Mario Galaxy

[53:10] so never I was trying to find out like I I had a real I mentioned previously I was kind of looking into some DS’s and MH one thing I was disappointed about is

[53:20] one of the zeldas that I love the aesthetic 2 and never finished got to play a little bit of it but not a lot was Wind Waker the GameCube yep CU that

[53:31] like just the again the exploration part of it the style the characters in it that that was a really cool looking game never really got to play it I was really

[53:40] hoping it it would be available for the 3DS but that that’s not there it is like virtual console on the Wii yeah not quite there yet but it would be I’d be

[53:51] literally buying a Wii i’ almost be farther had just to buy an old GameCube like pick it up at a garage sale can you imagine because they

[53:59] said they would go into the mobile space right can you imagine they they won’t release a Zelda in the mobile space but they are planning to release not

[54:08] currently but man give them like give them five more years and if the NX doesn’t burn the world button for them like that’s like the money maker button

[54:16] like release Mario and Zelda and yeah because 3DS is falling off because phones are you know eating them alive and the other consolle is like mopped up

[54:25] with a Wii U so if the NX isn’t just the next Wii as far as a phen phenomenon then what else do you do

[54:35] besides just start doing games we’ll see maybe they’ll send us one to test yeah I’m sure well with our kids we can kid test them you see right

[54:45] exactly we’re perfect focus group for free I’ll say like man there’s some little part of that too though CU if they if it’s amazing there some some

[54:53] really great games for us but there is that interesting take as far like you know as a parent there’s going to be some great

[55:00] Nintendo games kid can play for sure like you buy an Xbox like what are you supposed to do with your kid like you can buy bad young focused games but like

[55:12] a but in Nintendo man you get Mario uh some Metroid like there’s so many perfectly kidf focused games I know that’s where like they kind

[55:21] of hold their power right cuz even when I was getting my son a 3DS like there tons of games that he can get that he can learn at um video games right so the

[55:31] Mario Karts the Super Marios even the Pokemons like it’s simple reading it’s enough to get you started and then you’re kind of off on your own so he’s

[55:42] learning on Nintendo maybe that’s their thing maybe that’s their target you learn on Nintendo then you go hardcore air quotes uh into PS4 Xbox and then go

[55:52] super hardcore into PC man that could be a real that has to be a really smart play because I mean if you think about us like it we’re the perfect Target if

[56:01] they if they pitch it to us and we look at it we’re like oh that’s that’s some really cool stuff with this and already you and I are like drooling over Zelda

[56:09] who knows what other ones they could pull out that we would like but then they have amazing stuff much like if they

[56:16] double down on stuff like that uh Skylander one where you can draw or te yeah yeah right and this and the entirety of this system is about parents

[56:25] we got you covered you’re going to love this stuff but you can totally play this with a kid yeah and now it becomes this like family purchase it’s not it’s not

[56:32] about me it’s about quality time with a kid you see they totally have to sell it though because like their releases are great so like the Marios and zeldas but

[56:41] they are like few and far between right so they take their time which is great in the end like Zelda was supposed to release for the Wii U like now and it’s

[56:49] at the end of its life so but if you can get that quality gaming and the third part party developers on it it’s total sell for it’ be it’d be a real unique

[57:00] proposition and one that I think you know you and I were in households that can have buying decisions for this type of medium and you look at Xbox and

[57:10] Playstation it’s infinity and it’s like uh Call of Duty infinity and Kojima yeah yeah Kojima nightmares and you know what I mean so but this one of these came

[57:22] along and it’s fun there’s some awesome great fun games for parents but also like a kid Focus like that could be yeah maybe like they just maybe they

[57:31] had a bad period because we went through we were young we were young and foolish without babies and we were playing all about the

[57:40] Xboxes but now we’re calm yeah more fig yeah exactly kids of our own we want to start them you know let’s Nintendo’s basic you know they have a lot of

[57:52] Parental filters I can filter out there’s no Call of Duty for it yet we we we’re the ones who grew up on it right like the NES was ours so like that could

[58:01] be something that is interesting a dev kit I tested it with my son oh so all right Nintendo you can uh reach us on our website yeah so I have finished the

[58:13] root beer um what’s it like it is bad root beer oh my God you actually finished it though that finished finished it through it’s like I’m
