[0:25] excited I haven’t been I haven’t been this excited since no man’s sky hopefully the bucket list match up the adult beverages are poed the kids

[0:40] are asleep welcome to New dad gaming a show about fatherhood gaming and new fathers figuring out their gaming lives oh that was was I barely I barely kept

[0:51] that together where are you going the my name is Trevor and I have a one-year-old two months my name is Gavin and I have a oneyear

[1:04] old my name is Jeff I’m back I have a six-year-old and the three-year-old wait he was gone exactly I thought he was on the show I

[1:14] thought he had some very good points talking how much you love side launch it’s totally me Gavin like a confirm a conversation I

[1:24] had with Jeff before you arrived like his hair looks like he’s in college again right about as much which is yours look

[1:30] like you’re in the Army whoa coming back that did not end well you zing very well that was good I’ve

[1:41] been watching tennis all night so you know that’s my other uh that’s my other show just called new dad balding the live cam oh man I’m just I’m

[1:56] telling you because like the it it is it’s honest fight because like it’s happening I know it’s going to happen I’m cool with it and like the middle

[2:02] does not grow as fast at the sides and what ends up happening if you allow it to go is the sides start to encroach on the top which looks like a comb over and

[2:12] it looks and that’s not what I’m about yeah and the other trick too is like I can’t go to salons because like I I need to go to a barber yeah because a salon I

[2:25] I guess they’re not used to dudes being comfortable with balding so they Tred they try to do a bunch of things and like swirl it around and it’s just it’s

[2:33] always a combover they try to trumpy your head and you’re like just stop just like give me a cut that’s why you need yeah you need to go into a barber shop

[2:41] where literally they just say what number you’re like number two and they just clip the number two on the thing and go yeah and kick you off to basic

[2:50] training and I think it should be a challenge though I think he should grow the com over I had a one a place I went to it’s

[2:59] really should go full guy Fier that’s what I I think yes I will new dad challenge beautiful now for this one I’m not going

[3:07] to no challenge for Gavin CU his hair is just a radiant blessing of Hope like looking at looking at Gavin’s hair gives me hope how do we

[3:17] know it’s real it’s it’s the same every week it’s just perfected I’m a Lego man it’s just like Fen in the my head and just Clips

[3:26] on all it is oh man yeah so it was I let it go too long and it was it was bad the short like it looks good on you too though like it

[3:36] suits your head and jefff I know I raged on your hair but it looks fun today it’s good this is wake up Dad this is I had a nap today nap head this is nap hair and

[3:46] I couldn’t get it to stay down so I didn’t care I had a Korean roommate in Italy who would spend uh I’d say a good hour doing his hair and he

[3:59] had like this stuff that was like messy bed head like that was a name product he spent all his time working on his hair and he come out and it he just looked

[4:06] like this like it he would go in with bed head and fuss around for an hour and then come back out with Bed Head styled bedad man you’re

[4:17] adorable like all that effort and it’s like I did could not tell the difference it’s like it was like I cannot Believe It’s Not Butter it’s like I cannot

[4:25] believe it’s not bad head he just came out and like yeah did you do what did you do contemplate life like didn’t touch your

[4:32] hair that’s for sure no just doing hairs with tweezers just like one one strand at a time like positioning them like one of those chefs that like put micr Greens

[4:41] on a plate like a styled yeah Wonder Man so off the top I’m excited so Gavin has in his possession side launch to catch everybody up Sid launch the wheat

[4:57] version of the beer is what a my personal favorites it was a discovery I think I made two years ago and well I mean not I didn’t Brew it or anything I

[5:07] just found it in the beer store it does sound like you were making it like like two years ago yeah so I don’t want to mention too much but two

[5:16] two years and I’ve bought it every summer since absolutely love it fantastic I bring it to places all the time wow all huge fan had Jeff try it

[5:26] Jeff hated it I don’t like do not like and like even I had him retry it in case he he had forgotten cuz he stated it tastes like raspberries it tastes like

[5:38] bananas I don’t know which neither scenario is appealing to me this should be good so it’s it’s like a kick in the

[5:48] testicles no it’s more like a kick in the shin like it’s both are bad both they’re not ideal both both cause pause for at least

[5:57] five minutes yeah so will say though their paleale is good their pale is good so it’s not the it’s not like the brewery doesn’t not the brewery there’s

[6:07] just it’s that wheat version yeah it’s like that one like mery’s bar offshoot where they’re like leather because somebody asked us

[6:20] to make it yeah Trevor Trevor that’s right this guy buying in I know okay this one guy all right so Gavin walk us through I want to I want to hear your

[6:29] thoughts as we do this is Trevor crazy I’m hoping for and again I’m hoping for a man an up okay cuz if you’re in the if you’re in the middle

[6:37] that means that this is just a per taste if you hate it then all right I got problems let’s do this in stages uh one the color it’s nice but it’s um but

[6:47] because it is a wheat beer like they tend to be on the Cloudy side because it’s a wheat beer um it does have a nice sort of like Goldy color I like that

[6:57] it’s it’s cool um sometimes it’s nicer to see through but it looks like a urine sample like an early morning that you are tilting the

[7:08] scales no running commentary it looks like gold and delicious honey is what that looks like I suppose yeah kind of like a mead uh

[7:19] smell wise yeah it smells a lot like banana okay okay well we got banana there there we go but like the banana

[7:28] marshmallow things little candies like it has that sort of it’s banana e but like very banana e um banana it definitely has like your typical sort of

[7:38] like Fruity wheat beer like hog Garten Citrus notes kind of stuff going on but all right all right I’m gonna dive in now everybody hat are you ready this is

[7:46] the swing boat let’s go God I’m so damn nervous so much pressure he’s taking a sip he’s swishing he’s swishing

[8:02] what does that sound in the background that’s Clapp it’s clapping it’s it’s all right a yeah that’s practically a me I’m sorry practically a

[8:13] me as far as actually as far as wheat beers go it’s got one of the cleaner finishes um usually a wheat beer lingers its fruity nature a little too long but

[8:24] this actually finish is relatively clean um like I’m not a huge fan of wheat beers uh I’m definitely not going to be probably like it’s good it’s delicious

[8:34] but not delicious delicious a little heavy of a word but it’s uh enjoyable you could say yeah yeah it’s refreshing it’s

[8:44] refreshing it’s not it’s not sewer water as per Jeff’s descrip description you guys are all crazy I like I like the taste more than the

[8:53] smell um which is a weird way of putting it like the bouquet and the smell of it is a little bit too banany but you don’t get it on your tongue so like if it was

[9:02] going to taste the way it smelt I probably wouldn’t have liked it but it tastes a little bit more uh subdued than the fragrance so all in all it’s an

[9:15] enjoyable beer if you like wheat beer you’ll like it um if wheat beer is not your cup of tea or is just put it urine sample

[9:26] um it’s uh you know if you don’t like wheat beer you’re probably not going to really dig this either like I I’m not a big fan of wheat beer um it’s kind of

[9:36] like you know like shock tops another one that’s similar and you know but yeah I’m more of a Al logger sort of guy myself but uh as far as wheat beer goes

[9:46] it’s it’s not the I’ve had I’ve had wheat beer in the past I could not finish and this isn’t one of those so if that is

[9:55] a unit of measure for you that’s still that still sits in the mid-range mid to high but that’s all I needed it in the man Range man up that’s

[10:06] what I was looking for because if it if you if it for you that’s perfect in fact cuz it’s it’s very much a beer I think that you’re either going to enjoy a

[10:13] bunch or not like it’s it’s a very polarizing beer if you would um although even I I would hope people who don’t like it wouldn’t say sewer water or piss

[10:25] but what can you say maybe there’s like a cilantro Factor are going on here CU you know how like some people cilantro tastes like a really delightful

[10:34] refreshing herb and then other people just tastes like soap and it’s because there’s a certain um like some people have a genetic thing going on with their

[10:43] taste buds and their taste bud doesn’t receive that information the same way as other people so it’s not that cilantro is horrible or cilantro is awesome it’s

[10:50] just that to a certain sub subgroup of the population cilantro is a pleasurable experience and to another group of the population it is not and like actually

[10:58] my wife and I I really do enjoy cilantro my wife doesn’t really dig it um and it’s it could be that maybe Jeff is like you know cilantro

[11:08] soap of the wheat beer we need to go deeper we need to get need more we need more dads somebody get a a geneticist on this

[11:19] you need a laboratory and controlled environment get a cast of six dads just for the beard cuse of Jeff’s blood yeah quick everybody get samples we’ll go

[11:32] from there so the so Jeff you want to talk through your beer because we’ll obviously do our beer picks here first at the beginning okay so the good part

[11:40] of side launch it’s just their regular pale L which is actually quite satisfying it’s refreshing it’s nice um good tasting I

[11:51] was scared to taste it just because my past experience with their wheat but it it’s I just don’t like wheat bears in general so

[12:00] um no the pale is really good and where I was vacationing last week The Brew is actually there in uh Collingwood so it’s kind of neat to drive by it and see

[12:09] where like it All Began for them so and it’s super popular up there so it’s a really good beer did you go did you go in and give them trouble no I didn’t

[12:21] what are you doing with this I was going to go in like in prohibition ERA with like an axe he just starts like breaking open all cast but just of the side

[12:30] launch wheat beer just the one yeah just the one just go to town yeah you don’t need this very targeted prohibition yeah so my um so myself I’m drinking a musoka

[12:44] musoka brewery unfiltered cream ale um this is actually kind of nice and you see a lot of places doing this but they do like uh summer packs y so had that

[12:53] one before was their summer pack yeah and the and is it is it’s delicious like it’s got so much flavor to it and I don’t know that anything sticks out per

[13:03] let’s say banana necessarily there’s not one flavor that sticks out but the on the whole like it’s just got a big burst of flavor that goes in and sometimes

[13:12] when you see it filtered I tend to think it’s just going to go nuts on the Hops like an it’s an excuse to slide slide in a bunch of hops but this one nothing

[13:21] really to speak to on that and just like a bit fruity almost I guess you would call it but um not in a crazy way way but it’s more than anything just a burst

[13:30] of flavor on this one like it is it’s fantastic has was a little bit hesitant too because the I’ve had a lot of issues with their

[13:37] detour The Detour beer that they do as well I just find it so hoppy I have a hard time drinking that one it’s a little heavy yeah so this a bit that

[13:47] summer mixer was a good one the Moko one that was one actually when we went up to the cottage that’s the what I brought with me um and yeah it was a it was a a

[13:57] nice nice collection of of beer it was good um yeah and I get lucky sometimes with the mixers I do like those mixers because you kind of get a chance to try

[14:05] some that you normally wouldn’t want to commit to a whole case um recently just did that with slam and I had one of their mixers and they have a uh Silver

[14:13] Creek logger and I’d never tried their Silver Creek logger because I never really see it around but I really enjoyed that component of the case and

[14:23] then uh this week I picked up a case of just that specific type um so I’ll talk that one next week I guess why not but uh yeah I really like those mixer packs

[14:33] cuz yeah you discovered that you like the cream ale and that you know given your history of The Detour that maybe that wouldn’t have been one you’d go for

[14:41] but it’s good yeah mil Street does great mixer packs yeah especially fall and like Halloween type of time they throw together some real wild ones like there

[14:51] usually a lot there’s three safe bets and then they’ll always throw something at a left field like a pumpkin ale yeah the Moka survival pack if they do it

[15:00] again this winter it was really good I treat them like roulette like a Russian Roulette like a am I going to like this one or is it going down the sink see

[15:09] there’s the other episode that happens there like we take we go through the six on air on air yeah yeah posted it’s just yeah within the hour of the podcast too

[15:21] so you know there’s going to be some good results if you do that though um we have to pair it with another idea I had about us uh being inebriated at the same

[15:30] time is we do the new dad Olympics where we set up a bunch of kid puzzles like the rings on the stack and like the blocks the PO like a minute to win it

[15:42] kind of thing has to try and kid puzzle toys because a lot of times like like I have to do these really quick because she’s crawling back towards me to tear

[15:51] them all back out of the toy box so I’m trying to reassemble all these things before so I have a timer of baby crawling across the floor and that’s my

[15:57] time duration so I was thinking it would be hilarious if the three of us uh got ourselves somewhat uh inebriated and then raced through a obstacle course of

[16:10] various kids puzzles and see who made it to the end first oh with our kids as a timer that’s that’s the best part just like wild twist kid gets distracted by

[16:21] broom on the side so you get this extra 10 seconds you were planning on kid went rogue we’re good now who now who’s going to call the action like can we grab

[16:29] somebody from CBC hockey I think R there we go there we go noter maybe not Ron mlan I don’t think my wife would approve of

[16:39] that for it’s like what George George shopus oh there we go I’d be there all right let’s send a tweet see what

[16:51] happens he was in that uh was it hobo with a shotgun he was in that movie yeah yeah he played like a newscaster or something he gets killed pretty bad um

[18:11] mess uh we didn’t smash it in her face because we let her make her own mess um Trevor how new world yeah come on kid I need this

[18:23] photo no no she uh she actually she put her face against the cake like her like she kind of leaned in and like gently just smooshed her mouth against the

[18:33] cake uh and she also got a hold of the candle and like stabbed at like very hitch cocky and it was kind of scary for a moment she had this big grin on her

[18:43] face you was just stabbing the cake with a candle I was like okay you’re just looking around awkward you’re like oh dear

[18:52] um she she’s very nice oh why gentle child um so yeah no it was uh we had some fun uh the other day we went to um uh a farm

[19:06] here in Toronto Riverdale Farm it’s like this uh it’s technically it’s the oldest fully functional Farm in the city it’s

[19:15] been around since like the 1800s or something like that it’s ridiculously old any we went there it was really nice um she saw some cows some horses uh

[19:24] couldn’t find the pigs they’re off somewhere I don’t know or or we did have sausages before from you had met them very

[19:35] intimately an hour earlier already knew them better than we thought um yeah I know it was a fun day uh as far as gaming this week I’ve been

[19:44] work my way through the third Uncharted um I finished off Doom as everybody knows from my squealing of Joy uh so yeah I went back to Uncharted been

[19:55] playing it um and yeah the third one’s good I can see some people didn’t like it as much as a second but I’ve been digging it I like the sort of Lawrence

[20:02] of Arabia story that they’re going with it’s kind of fun so we’ll see uh how it pans out um yeah I’ve been uh that’s about it I’m I’m anxiously awaiting no

[20:14] man’s Sky uh I think I will probably end up picking up sooner rather than later on PS PS4 or uh PC I’ll be doing PS4 I want to it’s the visual on it are so

[20:30] nice and it’s a very pretty and visually striking game that I think just seeing it on a larger screen like our television screen rather than a monitor

[20:39] uh would be a lot of fun so it’s I think we might run into each other although notely oh not needled in a hay stack of hay stacks

[20:51] um but yeah the uh and what’s good too is I it’s just something nice about consoles you put your feet up on the you know on the coach and just sort of

[21:00] sit back it’s a little bit more casual and I think a game like that where you’re just sort of naming space dinosaurs it’s uh it’s a very put your

[21:09] feet up kind of game so um I think that lack of like intensity like something like OverWatch if I do end up hopping on board with it I’ll probably end up doing

[21:18] that on the PC just because Shooters most keyboard match in heaven uh but uh but yeah no man’s Sky probably do PS4 um looks like fun I’m excited for it

[21:29] there’s all this haloo at the day one patch and I don’t care just if it makes the game work well make the game work well um and yeah I’m I’m I’m curious to

[21:39] see what it’s like uh and I’ll probably not sure how much store I’m going to put into reviews or I’m just goingon to dive in we’ll see yeah I’m trying not to

[21:47] watch anything about it um and there’s all the spoiler stuff from what’s that I’ve watched all the live streams cuz people have it right yeah well you keep

[21:57] quiet damn it my God it’s nothing but celebrity appearances after celebrity appearances Kanye West is God in this universe no

[22:07] what happened he’s the center of universe are you kidding me that’s what you get to and then then you get the new album yeah there go then you get to

[22:14] download the new PR stunt for two years I will my PlayStation off the balcony if it turns out to be a PR stunt for Kanye Kardashian’s mixup

[22:26] album so you when might a Kanye album the K Kardashian thing might be a little tough to take but we have to see I don’t know man wild can you imagine such a

[22:36] disa that’d be crazy such a at a left field just find out soon enough I guess yeah within 30 minutes of launching the

[22:46] game further rumors although I think the day one patch might address it although I don’t know you could speedrun a lot of games but this one really doesn’t really

[22:54] seem person also misinterpreted the game I think they what ended up happening is they got to the center of a Galaxy not the

[23:02] universe so like there’s various centers of like each galaxy has its own Center so I think he got to the center of a galaxy that was relatively Center in the

[23:11] universe but he didn’t actually beat beat the game it wasn’t the end game yeah it wasn’t the end end thing so I think it was just like a he

[23:19] misinterpreted something and kind of maybe pulled the trigger on his writing uh before fully understanding like what the game was trying to tell him so

[23:28] hopefully that gets addressed a little bit more in the narrative in with the patch and whatnot and either way like you don’t when you pick up a game like

[23:37] Grand Theft Auto or any other big sandboxy game or Minecraft or what have you you’re not buying it for the scripted content you’re buying it for

[23:46] the realm you get to fart around in yeah so it’s it’s not about like speed running it and then complaining that your speedrun was fast it’s like I

[23:56] sprinted and I got there really quick yeah because you sprinted like stop and smell the roses the game is literally about smelling space

[24:07] roses take your time yeah literal space roses there’s in-game bonuses for smelling space roses see I’m I’m not

[24:17] really on board with it on on the hype I’m I might pick it up down the line but watching the live streams actually might turn me to get it just watching um

[24:28] there’s one quick part I’ll mention it’s not spoilery but there was a a planet that was cold and this guy was freezing to death right because you can’t be on a

[24:37] planet that’s super cold and he cut a hole in a radioactive Rock so it’s got that um like Red Faction esque cutting okay so he cut a hole in it sat in it

[24:48] and his temperature went because it’s all radioactive around around him I’m like oh that’s neat like just stuff like that that somebody had to think of do

[24:56] the geologists ver of cutting open a Tonton exactly and just hide in there just hid in a radioactive space geode man some of that stuff from like

[25:09] future stuff they’re talking about um like you can eventually own bases cuz there’s bases like Str throat uh star like Star

[25:17] Cruisers like they huge ships apparently they’re going to have you able to own down the line like they seem to have like a real big trajectory in the fact

[25:25] that how they’ve already put together this day one patch like could shows they have this hunger and they’re still popping stuff out so well when you look

[25:32] at games like uh like X3 that was a game that was just full of different possibilities that you could do and like you could build factories to like retro

[25:41] engineer and reverse engineer uh like alien technology and then sell it on the stock market and just like all this stuff that you could

[25:50] do uh for a game that most people just flew around in spaceships and shot at things yeah um these B Sim games like I’m excited to see kind of resurgence

[26:01] with like Elite dangerous and stuff uh some of my favorite gaming experiences back in my adolescence it’s like X-Wing versus TIE fighter and freelancer and

[26:11] stuff like that like those games were really really great just for the sensation of flying around objects in space and exploring and seeing new

[26:21] things and then coming up against big monolithic things in your tiny little spaceship you know it’s it’s it’s a lot of fun and I think that

[26:28] that feeling is what’s good to see again in games I haven’t seen it in a while it’s been a genre that I haven’t seen much Exploration with in the previous

[26:35] generation so I’m happy to see it now so and plus like the style like that retro aesthetic is so pretty like it’s the spaceships how they kind of they all

[26:46] look like some weird like rocket car on like the salt flats in the 1970s like cool grills on them and stuff it’s just the range of colors like the color

[26:57] palettes throat let’s be honest Trevor will be on the first planet and he won’t leave he’ll just explore every part of it just walk around another Circle they

[27:06] um build an Intergalactic chair Depot where uh he’ll start like this chair Freer company shipping lazy boys all over the Galaxy yeah some of that

[27:18] stuff is C I’m kind of curious about what happens as far as piracy and how you play it you play you play it straight and I you go and you m things

[27:28] sell things you start to build up um I don’t know if there’s like Rebel factions you attack we’ have to find out we get it but I I I think you can just

[27:36] like probably run up and like I know there’s like the Droids on the planets that you can clearly attack you get a wanted level um so you could be a bad

[27:43] boy that way I suppose just killing the local um Droid Force but then there the big Freighters and if you just go in and like your whole game is just running

[27:52] around like destroying these things cuz I think there’s obviously bonuses if you destroy ships it would be great if they had a little bit more of like a

[27:59] smuggling piracy thing like I remember other space sims like there were side missions you could do that were just for fun but like smuggling and you have to

[28:08] buy like signal Jammers and you know try to avoid any sort of like patrols and if you get to get hit by a patrol you got to hope that your Jammer prevents him

[28:19] from scanning your cont cargo and like if you get caught like you can try dumping the cargo and running away and they might not chase you because they

[28:27] just want the Contraband they don’t want you and just like components like that if they have stuff like that in there as well it’s gonna just put another nail in

[28:36] the coffin for me buying the damn thing uh but yeah it’s like how do you come across the elicit Goods like do you come across it by attacking another ship

[28:45] until they get scared and dump their stuff and then you pick it up and then you eventually get attacked by the police force and then you dump it and

[28:52] run away um or do you get the stuff by like you know poaching space dinosaurs for their ankle meat I don’t know the most the most tender of the

[29:08] dinosaur me of course never never had a you know Jupiter saurus ankle meat stew delicacy by the way my first bace dinosaur is gonna be named Jupiter sorus

[29:22] it better be you said it now kind of nailed it yeah yeah man the pressure to like man there’s going to be some awful names there’s going to be such bad names

[29:32] for some things like that’s so risky letting people name things oh it’s like letting people create their own like wall tag graffiti and like a first

[29:42] person shooter oh counter 9% of them are just penises yeah it’s it’s essentially okay no man’s sky has a very very slight potential to becoming like a bathroom

[29:56] stall wall gave everybody a Sharpie and some people might write cool witty things that you kind of look over

[30:05] your shoulder and go that’s cool and then you just you know finish your stuff and leave fly on the next yeah but most of

[30:15] it is probably GNA be really really bad stuff I just if I find if I find a planet called Trump for pre I’m probably going to quit the game

[30:26] starting planet named yeah done I’m I’m just waiting for plan like how fast or how many planet M plan Planet pH you see oh God yeah there be

[30:38] so many planet MC planty face so many like are they going to have it set up so you can’t name a planet that’s already been named something like I hope so

[30:48] because okay it’s procedurally generated so theoretically There is almost an unlimited number of celestial bodies to

[30:58] land on a name right but like you’ll run out of all the cool words run of cool names before you run

[31:09] out of planets you know Planet cool like Planet cool too cool cool I don’t want to have to name my Planet Le dogs with a zed because I

[31:24] can’t think of anything good that hasn’t been taken by the way Elite dogs with the Z awesome planet name is that your username I mean

[31:33] it’s gonna be my username feared pirate lening don’t take my name the most feared pirate in all the

[31:43] Galaxy hailing from the planet mcpl face so uh Jeff yourself did you get a new so you were so where were you for your week off that was just family

[31:55] vacation and then gaming opportunities during that vacation yeah so we uh rented a well it wasn’t a cottage uh we say Cottage but it’s not it’s a house uh

[32:05] in Blue Mountain so um we uh went up with another family uh shared a house so they have kids roughly the same age so about six and eight I believe 6 eight or

[32:16] nine so um we did no gaming it was kind of an unplug uh week off but the game that kind of took hold was uh like um a star

[32:37] and it’s got all the characters from the new movies the old movies the prequels so the kids loved it I kind of got roped into being the the dealer all the time

[32:49] so I ran that uh we should have put money down I would have made a ton get those kids always wins it was an unplug uh

[32:59] kind of week so no gaming I will have a new dad tip life proo tip okay when you sunscreen because we went to we drove to Wasa beach one day and it was beautiful

[33:11] like sun uh blazing in the sky we made sure that we sunscreened everybody that sunscreen doesn’t work if you hold a wet child in your

[33:23] hip so I walked away like I’m a white dude there’s this complexion is white right thought I thought you were a

[33:36] Latino when I got home no word of a lie severe burns where my son was hanging I still have him it hurts like anything where he was hanging off scar it was

[33:49] like bright red here you could see a handprint in the middle of my chest cuz he was I was going to say could you see the outline of the kid yeah and the leg

[33:57] on other hip and his leg crossing my abdomen so note when you screen you sunscreen weight absorption don’t pick up your kid

[34:09] drowning just kind of leave him kind of like bring him up to the water don’t hold them in yeah yeah C drag him out but don’t no it screens

[34:18] you I never even thought of that that’s really no contact with your kids dad hug me going to happen I just screened up kid can’t do this

[34:30] before I love you again yeah but it was bad like it was I was sore for the the next two days and I couldn’t we the place has a hot tub which is great to

[34:41] use except when you have a burn not gonna do that so I’m I’m sitting outside while everyone else is having fun I’m like just crossed arms in a drain click

[34:54] yeah trying to show my son love that little that burn you get in the vacation that throws things off I got one in Mexico it was our last like last

[35:08] day we were like getting on the plane that day and I’m like you know what I’m going to go for one more walk down the beach and I’ve been good the entire trip

[35:17] I’ve been lathering up my pale Irish body yeah and I went and really it was one pixie’s album that’s it

[35:28] and I got back and it my wife just looked at me and went oh oh no like you know when like that other person looks at you and then go oh like a I’m in for

[35:42] like five six days of pain right yeah is that what you’re saying is that the look you’re G and yeah so I had to sit on an airplane with a fres burn so

[35:53] excruciating just sitting there and having it it’s hot too it’s hot to tellou hurts and those seats don’t Breathe

[36:02] No oh that’s Brut yeah oh man I feel your pain but that but yeah I never even thought of the idea of like you sunscreen yeah then a wet kid just wipes

[36:11] it all off yeah it’s gone and I evened later so I don’t know they Ste best like they’re stealing it too it’s just like like they’re extra protecting cuz

[36:21] they’re just like wiping it off your body yeah it’s probably a good way to get it on them if they’re too squirmy just like yeah kind of just yeah get

[36:29] yourself all done give me a hug here kid a on them yeah Burns in my eyes probably just like squeezing them they like pop out and go flying like 20 feet close

[36:40] enough to the water they’re fine launch him in the lake oh man the so for myself and the I got to experience the PlayStation VR so

[36:52] they had here in Toronto they had some let you know it was an adorable video we should put that up we should we need to put that up I think I think I posted

[37:02] on wait I think I put a video of it on sorry I took a photo of on Twitter but I could probably put the video as well or maybe the video would be better on

[37:10] Facebook but the uh I don’t know if it’s captured it there were a few moments where I just had this like stupid grin on my face cuz like I was so like it was

[37:19] so incredible and Trevor it was a duration of the film what was it for the grin never left your face no no it didn’t it was that

[37:26] was it the whole time oh I was in space it happened video games for the first time he was that’s they had this like list of um so you show that it was in

[37:36] two locations like one was actually one pretty close to me and then another one directly downtown and you walk in you you you’re in a bit of a line the line

[37:44] was actually a little bit long I think I ended up waiting probably about 40 minutes whoa dedicated I like it well well each each time you do the demo it’s

[37:52] roughly it’s a little bit more than five minutes by the time they sit them down play it and then go through their particular demo let’s also note that

[37:58] every single episode Trevor mentions VR oh do I I’m getting hyped he wants it he needs it that’s man that’s why I bought my PlayStation he would have waited it

[38:08] out no yeah that’s why I bought this PlayStation is to Get Hype for this so the um which is funny because I’d never tried it I just assumed it would be the

[38:18] best and it all panned out so I mean you uh actually one of my favorite Parts about it in continuing one of our conversations is is towards the end I

[38:29] just heard like I’m like wait a minute like my whilst in it my wife and son had snuck in they previously had been just on a different errand but they came back

[38:38] and joined it so there very much was the scenario where I’m off in space oblivious to my surroundings and my son is like liter like right there he’s just

[38:49] like right there at least heard him through the headphones but if it was like cranked up you just like off you kept going right oh I kept

[38:59] going yeah it’s like he on his own just walked in so like I was I wasn’t leaving space yet I wasn’t done so the so you walk in you just hop

[39:10] into line and they have this list of experiences you can do one of the um so the one I chose was e Valkyrie because I figured it’ be most akin to No Man’s Sky

[39:21] which is the thing I’m really geared for like incredibly excited about it’s it turns out for the first time like the lights flicker on like in your ship and

[39:29] it’s just the it’s the movement cuz just it’s it you you are there like much like you see out of your eyes you’re now seeing inside of this thing there’s not

[39:37] if you’ve ever tried like a cheap VR set like you you look to the left and then like the screen kind of slowly catches up with you yeah but this is just

[39:45] exactly one and then I guess like some notes about it is I was surprised how natural it kind of becomes in some way where you almost forget it but what ends

[39:55] up happening is you know I’m tailing another ship trying to shoot him down but like I’m tracking him by looking up right like classically when you’re doing

[40:03] Flying a spaceship in a game like you’re just kind of like looking straight and you’re trying desperately to get your ship to like realign with him but in

[40:10] this like you’re actually like watching him above in your canopy as you steer your ship up and that’s you still have to get the nose of your ship up to aim

[40:18] at him right like you’re not like aiming with your neck muscles no no no so this is just as if you’re in the canopy and you’re just watching him where he’s

[40:24] going while your ship is slowly catching up to it and then eventually like you know like he like your ship finally catches up and then it lines up so you

[40:32] can take your shots but just how I was surprised at how natural that came about you know like that wasn’t something coached it’s just all of a sudden this

[40:40] is a freedom that you have to be able to watch and like look like looking to your left is what’s going on over there you hear a noise over this way you’re

[40:46] telling us you’re the last star fighter yeah what’s was that book where the kid go young kid goes up into space and commands

[40:55] a uh a ship after playing an arcade game no no no this is a it’s a book written by a terrible racist but the book’s great Ender Game Ender Game yeah yes so

[41:07] that’s a bit more like it okay no but the um yes you’re staring around now the the second one I had like I actually had a couple moments of um like my stomach

[41:18] coming up like not from sickness not queasiness but like roller coaster or plane okay wow like it was so immersed that I was zipping around on this one

[41:28] huge ship like they they nailed the scale so much I was actually oh like just like oh boy you get that stomach motion I’m like I’m not moving like how

[41:37] the hell do I like but between the uh these these headphones too that they were doing there was H one of those 3D uh 360 story headsets so so the sound

[41:47] goes appropriately and between like that sensation of you looking and going like I actually got that GeForce experience on my stomach like oh boy oh we’re

[41:57] zipping around gonna barf on your kid oh so everything it was just it unbelievable and I just you hope I guess what I’m kind of concerned about is like

[42:06] what does that feel like but before I get into concerns I think that one of the last one of my favorite other moments was before me was a couple a man

[42:13] and a woman uh man plays the same game I did enjoyed it his wife decides to go like yeah I really want to try this they have an experience with VR and I think

[42:22] it’s coming with the console but it’s called Deep Sea oh yeah I you go down in the cage or whatever yep yeah that’s where she starts to go

[42:32] down and I’m like oh no like I don’t know if she knows what’s going to come and and she’s going down like she’s seeing jellyfish in manay and

[42:40] everything’s going great and then the one of the demoor cues in he’s like wait is she afraid of sharks does she have a fear of sharks

[42:50] because in a moment there’s going to be a lot of sharks and the husband’s like oh yeah that’s fine just go forward I because he would oh this woman was

[42:58] petrified like this woman was just like she she’s like like where’s your hand where’s your hand give it to me where’s your hand like grabbing and turn it off

[43:07] she stuck through it but like and then the presenter’s like if you want out just close your eyes and raise your hand I can I can bring you out she’s just

[43:14] like she’s like she’s cowering like so she’s like looking down to the side cuz she didn’t want to look forward to where I assume like the shark most the shark

[43:21] action would be so she’s like L like in her chair like physically like cowering down because of these sharks coming up and I mean the thing like came up and

[43:30] like was ripping off the cage like it was it’s pretty dramatic like and like this this thing is going to become the wife Terrorizer 2000 like there’s going

[43:40] to be so many experiences of just we just’s coming out right like that’s a we got a full-fledged horror yeah so let me retract that that’s just going to be the

[43:50] the people Terrorizer machine or heart attack like I’ll bring my brother over and just like knock his eyeballs out with like with

[43:58] the Resident Evil demo or something it’s going to just like terrify Trevor you just got your wife on board with like watching like fire watch like distance

[44:08] yeah way to he’s on let’s ruin it hey darling try this it’s just like firewatch just like it’s like firewatch but sharks eating your

[44:21] facez oh so it was just U everything was just so great and again that’s just one of those that feels wonderful to have something

[44:31] that had such promise then you try for the first time it’s like wow that that really is kind of exciting um I tried it with my glasses on like which I was kind

[44:38] of concerned about of as being like a limitation of it apparently you can’t adjust it enough to not have it but I didn’t want to like putts around with

[44:44] that so I I played it with my glasses no issue okay that was actually something I wanted to ask you was like how was it with the glasses because like like I

[44:53] would play with the glasses off but I kind of want my glasses on because my glasses do a lot for me so I kind of want to keep that yeah my worry was like

[45:02] them hate me as wor I get the head on and like they said like it generally can but my eyesight would be too bad and I wouldn’t

[45:09] be able to do it and I just didn’t want to putts but um that was great weird double-edged sword playing video games and needing

[45:19] glasses and then not wanting the glasses so you can play video games to then need glasses to put on the bigger glasses got take off these glasses or these glasses

[45:29] for the glasses yeah is there like an astigmatism slider on the side of the thing like yeah the world is in your face it’s just and then if you want

[45:37] extra 3D mode you got to put on your normal glasses and then you slide on to 3D glasses and then you slide on the VR set well you had the 3D sound too so you

[45:46] had everything going arone atmosphere Mister you need the rotating chair now like those arcades oh man I’ve seen some

[45:55] of those demos like where they’ve set up like huge swinging chairs to go along that would be man what that sensation much must be like to actually have your

[46:04] body being thrown around Christmas list I get the sneaking sus suspicion that Trevor just is not happy with reality as it’s just so dull you see all his

[46:15] games is they’re about escaping to different planets and yeah helping people like hey um I still have the sense of smell can we do something about

[46:24] that like can I replace it I know what I smell like smell space I don’t want to smell you said yourself stop and smell the space roses exactly go nice

[46:37] segue just just don’t stop at garbage Planet 65 like the on space no one can hear you scream but um so it was it was great and I

[46:48] think if the so my God like my so excited for Tuesday no man’s Sky coming out like it’s it’s all coming it’s all coming around it’s all coming up milose

[47:00] well man it might suck and it like there’s still the chance that it’s awful like it you know that still exists there but um I’m hopeful which is great

[47:09] PlayStation VR was fantastic like just phen like such a cool experience and as long as it’s still I guess yeah now I can address

[47:20] some of my concerns I just think I’m still concerned about the long play like what’s it like to have that thing on for like a 2hour session M yeah and then

[47:28] constant 2hour sessions like if you play an hour every other day like are you going to want to keep putting on this like headset is that great um the

[47:37] majority of my gaming right now is like I will game like it’s usually at night after the

[47:44] family’s gone to bed or during one of her naps so I need to be able to hear the baby monitor and like click it in somehow

[47:56] just yes

[48:02] yes yeah that’s a good mention though because I don’t know the unit itself has to be kind of kid proof too right I wouldn’t want to drop it and have it

[48:09] wrecked like it’s done right it shatters it’s one thing for them to get a hold of like a PlayStation controller and hook it across the floor but like those VR

[48:18] sets are how much yeah I think I think it’s coming depends on what you have if you have the to to make it work

[48:27] well you don’t necessarily need the the move controllers but there’s a couple games that do definitely use it yeah those way yeah so I don’t know just from

[48:35] previous PS owners if you’d happen to have that like the things that you do need are the camera like the PlayStation camera oh right and then the you know

[48:43] the headset itself of course I don’t know how integral the move controllers are but so the set I think for the the headset the move controllers and the

[48:52] camera I think runs around 600 bucks wow yeah so it’s which is more than the console so it definitely gets up there that is up

[49:02] there cost a lot to be a front runner and in truth like we don’t know what happens like we don’t know like what where this industry goes

[49:11] with this like it’s certainly as long as it does as long as it doesn’t go the way of the virtual boy right because I had that I was an early

[49:18] adopter and that sucked like six games out of that that was it come back next episode you dusted it off like your just whole eyes are

[49:29] just completely black you would you would lift up and it would just be green right cuz all the the whole thing was red inside so at least with this you can

[49:37] take it off and experience reality the same way like instead of just but just more D but just sadder that’s right no Starships so so close to blasting off

[49:51] the space can’t wait but uh just wants to be an astronaut so bad very bad yeah it’s not even a man I don’t even know I wasn’t even

[49:59] like huge into space games before necessarily like like Gavin you’ve mentioned L not Nostalgia before old games I’ve certainly played the same but

[50:06] it wasn’t necessarily my cup of tea but just something about like this particular game has just this aesthetic the

[50:16] exploration the size I don’t know Tuesday it’s it’s coming up it’s coming up close so either Tuesday Trevor’s

[50:27] going to be up to his shoulders in empty Visine bottles or hugging a can of side launch probably his fourth of the day saying at

[50:41] least I still have you you’ll never leave me side launch it will be interesting to see your reaction like I’m really curious so much I might

[50:50] even hold off and get the game after I know I get it before but still like it’s uh based on my hype I um yeah it’s kind of

[50:59] f really side note and I think we could probably wrap it up for the day I’d actually I’m not sure why I I felt compelled to at first but I had ordered

[51:09] it um pre-ordered it from Amazon because they they apparently have a great record as far as like Friday so that’s well that’s well that let me tell the story

[51:18] because because that was my thinking well two things firstly I could care less for a physical copy I mean like I’m a PC Gamer like everything digital I

[51:26] think I much for like I could care less to carryer on a disc or even have to put the damn disc in cuz one thing I’m finding with like these physical discs

[51:32] on the PS 4 is even if you like quote unquote install it on the system you still have to have I’m finding unless I’m ruining it and I’d love if you can

[51:42] correct me but I have to have the dis in it like I need yeah that’s the key that’s garbage man that’s so that’s so old think like damn man like I got to

[51:52] walk all the way to the console and change my discs and like I got to flip through the six cases like where it’s going to I’m going to find

[51:59] it what is this probably the textbook definition of first world problem g walk all the way kiding how great is my life so apparently not great enough to not

[52:12] make you want to jettison yourself into space so the um yeah so I did so I was thinking about so I pre-ordered it cuz I I thought that would be about the best

[52:23] way to go about it and then I found out that no in fact it was available for order and this is just my newness coming to the system it was available for order

[52:29] just right from the PlayStation Store I like oh of course like yeah obviously so I had to so I canceled my Amazon order and then reordered it onto the

[52:40] PlayStation store for multiple reasons first being just again prefer digital that’s better secondly the scenario you mentioned Gavin because there’s still

[52:48] physical components I have to assume it it would arrive properly as opposed to just being able to download it like on the system so a friend of mine was like

[52:58] four days behind the curve with Fallout because of Amazon everybody was like oh man I’m making all these chairs it’s so much fun

[53:09] and he was there and he was just like oh I can’t in his chair they go I’m not making chairs for anybody just want to make

[53:19] chairs you tell me you didn’t make her a chair I did not make her her drug chair why would you not make her a chair old woman I didn’t make her her meth chair

[53:30] I’m sorry make her a chair and get feed her full of drugs it’s the Fallout way embar to you’re an embarrassment to us VA
