[0:00] and Witcher three yes oh yeah you finished it you’re nice your long journey is over well the DLCs are still there I’m not

[0:10] gonna play them but yeah the main game is over that’s an honest that’s an honest effort you did it yeah conclusion Perfect 10 months about the time it

[0:23] takes to Bear a child it’s right I now know the pain and suffering no I know let’s uh let’s bring in the wife

[0:34] real quick for that and no we can delete that survey says you know that’s going in the pre-roll right Ray that’s the quote

[0:43] that’s to sell this thing Jeff says white male equates finishing The Witcher to child of child pregnancy the suffrage of says it can’t

[0:56] says it couldn’t have been harder than the Witcher 3 yeah yeah

[1:04] [Music] the adult beverages are poor the kids are asleep welcome to New dad gaming a show about fatherhood gaming and new

[1:17] fathers figuring out their gaming lives my name is Trevor and I have a one-year-old my name is Gavin and I have a one-year-old my name is Jeff I have a

[1:26] three-year-old and a six-year-old watching from the stairs above oh really really yep now he ran pressure he ran into his

[1:35] bedroom yeah we it was great at the beginning of the show because when we started this thing it was who baby will interrupt with

[1:45] crying we haven’t had the toddler like being funny like kicking and screaming in the background that’d be a riot yeah well like he’s he might

[1:56] just walk down here half naked and just say hi who knows he’s laughing at that joke you’re feeding yeah I was gonna say

[2:07] you’re feeding with ideas what do you think is gonna happen I don’t know what you’re talking about once he hears his name he’ll do it

[2:14] but I I just hope you don’t notice your dog just I really hope you don’t notice yeah quietly yeah and then you start talking like well never mind I don’t

[2:26] want you to talk bad about him with an ear shot no we’re trying to we’re trying to hold him down now I’m really hoping for the where

[2:35] I have to interrupt Jeff M conversation to let him know what his kids doing behind him yeah man can you imagine if we witnessed the granola bar Heist live

[2:44] oh my God you kidding meun style yeah Looney tun style pic was it padello patello the violin well that could be Piccolo

[2:58] Piccolo Piccolo Piccolo is the from Dragon Ball Z like what pello I don’t know Google anyways the vi the the violin

[3:13] tapping his DS is right here right so he could be doing that trying to get his DS and then go back upstairs try and do it in his

[3:23] bedroom you guys ever do kid heists when you were a like I remember we used to there’s a four of us and we were all up stairs rooms relatively close together

[3:32] and we used to just love like messing with each other late at night so it’s like a lot of memories of my dad having to like come upstairs in referee to make

[3:40] sure all poor kids would like be quiet yes we would do Morris code Morris code on the wall and stuff and like that wasn’t quiet that was not a quiet thing

[3:50] to do no and we’d whisper which to a kid is not whispering it’s yelling it’s like horse yelling yeah yeah it’s not this is fasina me because I was an only child

[4:01] but like siblings they’re kind of like it’s like a like a p camp bedtime doing Morris code and it’s

[4:12] like yeah a great escape Heist thing can we do with it mom and dad what yeah remember my D my dad’s like sitting on the top of the stairs with his newspaper

[4:22] and a beer and like we’re trying to like Huck pillows ever so gracefully over top of his head so he wouldn’t notice just

[4:31] like going over top hey what what we’re in our beds like he didn’t notice right oh there was just a point but yeah you you

[4:43] certainly want wouldn’t want him to notice when that was going on oh yeah the uh doing trying to get stuff past parents so

[4:53] ineptly you knew like I knew every Creek in our house like every floorboard that squeaked you know ones to avoid you could do that thing blind and just

[5:02] somehow make it downstairs I remember doing that yeah fourth step of giveway yeah it’s just oh you got caught this time 50th try later doing that now like

[5:12] I know what parts of our floor are a little squeaky so I’m like sleeping by her room and I don’t want to wake her up like I know what part of the floor to

[5:19] like skip comes all full yeah there’s one R jeez yeah that’s caught me three or four times where there’s this one going down

[5:30] the stairs at our place here and just it’s it is a cry from hell like when you step on that stair like it is just like it awakes everything so like all a just

[5:39] this big Lurch over top to desperately get down and you forget once and just there goes your night oh so gentlemen how was your week

[5:50] in fatherhood and gaming uh mine was kind of just Steady As She Goes sort of thing like it was uh um as far as fatherhood it was pretty

[6:04] pretty solid week lots of fun times um we did some Halloween costume shopping yesterday that was fun um I’m sure your daughter I’m sure your

[6:14] daughter had a big say what she wanted to be yeah she had a lot of say in um what else uh also with fatherhood and just the idea of um no such thing as

[6:27] sick days kind of thing like I had a mild head cold hit me on like I think Tuesday um but like I did feel it coming on so like that night I just loaded

[6:40] myself with vitamins and tea and everything and then went to bed with like extra blankets and just burnt it out of me um so just recognizing the

[6:49] sensation of like okay something’s brewing and getting on it early and I like I think I slept like 10 hours but just like I’m like I’m not GNA

[6:58] let this thing get a foothold and uh it worked like I managed to kind of just nip it in the bud before it really took root and then uh like I

[7:06] still had a bit of linger throughout but not this sort of like incapacitating sickness that would require me to be like oh I just I can’t

[7:16] go to work or like I can’t look out baby today like I was able to still kind of Keep On Target but uh that was you know it was also great too like uh my wife

[7:25] brought me tea when I was working the next day and uh she was really good about it just getting me set up so that way I could sleep 10 hours straight um

[7:35] and yeah uh as far as gaming goes I’m starting to get better at Mortal Kombat um as in I’m good enough to enjoy it uh the story mode I’m actually really

[7:46] digging uh for a fighting game like it just it feels like I’m watching a really campy kung fu movie but then I get to take control during the fights and I

[7:56] really am digging that it’s a lot of fun they’re doing NE little like flashback stories where you play as these characters and their first interaction

[8:04] which was basically just their first fight and then you get to play them again in the present day and it’s now their new fight um but yeah it’s been

[8:14] it’s been a lot of fun uh I finished off that deadly Tower of Monster game it was uh it was Charming I really liked it for nice little

[8:23] fun smash everything with a rod and Ray Gun it was uh it was good nice little Indie title um anybody who likes old sci-fi Camp I highly recommend it uh

[8:35] it’s got some kind of fun Fork wall breaking stuff at the end which is H which had some decent humor at some pretty solid writing so yeah it was fun

[8:44] it’s definitely worth picking up especially if you like you find it for a good price like definitely get it even at its full price it’s it’s it’s an

[8:51] enjoyable experience I think I played with I think it six hours uh start to finish and there’s probably a few things that I might have missed that I can

[8:58] probably go back through so so yeah it was fun um yeah I think that’s about it uh I’ve also been ripping through Bob’s

[9:09] Burgers because it’s amazing and uh I’ve officially become a fan of Iron Maiden um a little late to the party but oh yeah uh but yeah I’ve been listening a

[9:21] lot of that lately uh just sort of just got into it so uh yeah L the baby to sleep right I oh yeah yeah

[9:36] yeah nothing uh nothing no lullay better than Aces [Laughter] High nice that was awesome Jeff

[9:48] yourself um well I guess with Iron Maiden there comes funerals I don’t know I don’t know how to transition that that’s perfect what are you talking

[9:59] about oh their what’s the name of their what’s the name of the guy their mascot the co

[10:06] guy something I should wasn’t it something wasn’t it play on Union Jack like yeah anyways Death guy you that’s

[10:17] perfect perfect seg awesome so yes unfortunately we had a funeral this weekend um one of uh well my wife’s grandfather died

[10:30] and it was kind of they were expecting it um he had his last rights uh read to him uh and then a couple days later he passed away so everyone had to gather

[10:39] for the funeral and being without a babysitter because that side her side takes the kids we had to take the kids to the funeral so we

[10:50] were prepared for some questions and I must say for a six-year-old and a three-year-old they had tons of questions that were all like well

[10:59] founded like um like they would they went it was open casket so they went right up they didn’t have any qualms it wasn’t weird

[11:07] or anything we just wanted to know and we’re very um fact-based parenting right so we’ll tell them we won’t sugarcoat it too much obviously we’re not going to go

[11:18] into you know crazy facts like his heart sto beating his brain’s dead just leave Al hope be there one day too yeah everyone dies like we’re not going to do

[11:28] anything like that but you know we’ll explain the situation you know what happened um you know why does he look like he looks like cuz you know they’re

[11:36] kind of done up differently when they’re sitting there or lying down there um but the kids were really good um they kind of accepted everything they were very

[11:45] respectful of the place so they weren’t running around crazy not to say that there weren’t a few instances where that happened but luckily the funeral home

[11:53] had this old CRT TV like in the uh in this one room and the put on DVDs for the kids from like I think it was 2002 uh some Disney

[12:06] 2002 what get it in there it’s not like involving lessons you’ll be fine yeah that’s right it just skips halfway through oh my God like a

[12:17] mortuary safety video like a Dexter episode or something they’re like whoa whoa hold on when cremating you’ll find that but uh to lighten up the mood a

[12:28] little bit um we went to they had the mass the next day so everybody was in church and uh I myself not a well we’re not really

[12:37] churchgoers so it was brand new to the kids they didn’t know how to sit still for a full hour obviously that’s kind of hard to do so when you know they Shuffle

[12:48] down the the casket to the front and the priest comes out my son the three-year-old decided where everyone else is quiet decided to hum

[12:59] the Darth Vader song Oh God because the priest came out in this cape right wasn’t black OB but White dead

[13:17] silence and he knows it off by heart like he’s watched Star Wars till the end so made us laugh made the front low front row laugh I think it made um

[13:29] because um grandmother laugh or at least giggle or turn around so I think it lightened it up it was perfect like everyone was just in this Eerie somber

[13:39] kind of mood and then you hear Darth Vader and kind of cheer up but that’s so perfect wow the beautiful unfiltered world of

[13:52] children they just like they don’t care care do what you want yeah the comedic timing on that like just funniest things it was perfect and then he after that he

[14:05] proceeded to point to like all these like they had stained glass everywhere and it has a bunch of scenes and I couldn’t name them but lots of disciples

[14:15] I think going around and they’re all in different colors so he’s naming off like Power Rangers for each of us that’s what he

[14:24] recognizes daddy daddy you’re the green guy daddy mommy mommy you’re the red guy so it was fun to have I hope other people appreciated it

[14:37] because we did because it I don’t know it made it Go by a little quicker he has he has the giant cat dinosaur like yes yeah so no it was a good was a good

[14:49] lesson so they weren’t you know wasn’t too [Laughter] bad Darth Vader theme though never get

[14:56] over that I wish I taped it but obviously I’m not gonna of funeral but yeah exactly this could be hilarious amazing get the selfie stick out it’s

[15:06] like you need one of those like police officer body cams yes all the time yeah like because they’ll do stuff where you’re just like that like you don’t see

[15:15] it coming there’s no warning no leadup like there’s no hint it’s just it could be just normal run-of-the-mill play time and all a sudden it’s like oh now’s time

[15:25] for headand okay yeah why not why going to believe me stand on my head okay I was just lying on on your rug but you climb on top of me like a little spider

[15:37] monkey then whatever close your boat baby yeah so that was that was my weekend

[15:51] that and then uh in terms of gaming finally beat Witcher 3 so what’s happen took a while finally did it again every

[16:02] every time I’ve ever seen you on PS4 like that whole network thing yeah it’s always what you’re three every single time to get it done amazing game

[16:11] probably one of my top two of all time I think last of us still holds that spot but it is definitely up there the detail in it is amazing the way the story inter

[16:22] wees with other side quests that I don’t even get to I left a whole world map full of side quests left but when you’re done you can go and do

[16:31] them and it doesn’t fail you on those which is great I love it that’s nice go back can go to them or not like yeah well kick button and I have the best

[16:40] gear difficult when like the side quests are tied the main quest in the sense of like an expiration date oh you hit chapter three so all the chapter two

[16:49] side quests are gone it’s done yeah and there’s a really sweet looking path that says like oh well you didn’t complete that in a second come on there are a

[16:58] couple time though that makes sense it’s like if one side quest was like oh this girl is being attacked by a werewolf in the forest you should go help her okay

[17:05] I’ll do that and then I never did it and then like like four hours later in the game time they’re like yeah you failed this Quest she’s

[17:13] dead fair enough yeah so like that stuff I don’t mind yeah there’s like I’m lazy it adds consequence to your decision if it’s somebody who’s like you know my

[17:24] radish far field is is infested with like maggots yeah I can get to that yeah cares deal yeah exactly so no that’s awesome so what would you say was

[17:37] your total time spent um in that game save game had a Time log for you but like just if you streamline the main story in the game

[17:48] what’s sort of the estimate like the main the main game plus I think a few side quests you have to do to get the main one done just the size of those

[17:58] ones it’s probably an 80 hour game I think I probably spent 140 Plus hours wow in there just doing it and getting the right armor set and weapon set and I

[18:10] didn’t even go into half those side quests so there’s a lot of game there and I’ve been contemplating that one I think uh maybe

[18:21] that will be something after the holiday season um because I still have to I want to get through on CH 4 I haven’t cracked into that yet

[18:29] and uh I’m curious about mir’s Edge too I watched um there’s a a uh a streaming thing that the one game Studio I’m working with right now does weekly uh

[18:42] and this week they did uh a new Mirror’s Edge game and it looked pretty cool I played the first one they enjoyed it and uh this one looked like a lot of fun too

[18:52] so that’s been on my radar along with a few others but The Witcher always intrigued me like the previous ones always look

[18:59] stunning the third one just looked like the perfect storm of good choices yeah um design wise and visuals and all that so I’m happy to hear that you really

[19:09] enjoyed it yeah it was really good but yeah an investment for sure yeah spend a year feel good it that’s it’s great too it’s just a great story because they had

[19:19] they put out the game and they they became wildly popular and they made profit and they stuck to a DLC schedule which they released for free to the game

[19:29] Y and the support was really great and people loved it across the board there’s no real U controversy by any means like it

[19:37] was just well reviewed well liked really well put together everything was in it No Nonsense DLC or trying to like Bill clim out of like money afterwards nope

[19:46] and this just top to bottom like that’s a great gaming story of nothing else like that’s that was great to see all around with which were three it’s like

[19:53] quality product with really great commitment to the the customers like here’s our product we stand behind it and here’s some other ways that we

[20:03] wanted to make our product better and thank you for purchasing it and supporting our company here’s some additional content because we can afford

[20:12] to we can afford the overhead to do this because the game is doing so well I think that’s it’s a really great story in showing

[20:21] that the players can be respected and not hit with pay walls and like my dividing everything up into paid for downloadable content yeah

[20:33] and the the company May that’s actually developing and and making the thing can still be successful and keep their lights on and pay their employees and

[20:45] and prepare for for future developments like you can have both like you you don’t need to chunk everything up into you know little packs that

[20:56] everybody has to buy what kind of use Star Wars Battlefront um you know stuff like that where it’s just you have it done it’s

[21:06] done just put it together and don’t microtransaction it out and other things just yeah like it’s like The Witcher is one of the best viewed and and the

[21:19] happiest player based games uh in recent years because of that like it wasn’t just because it was a quality game was because the the Developers and the the

[21:29] studio behind it really had a lot of respect for the people who purchased the product from them yeah even when you purchase it you get a handwritten note

[21:37] well handwritten in that it’s been signeded now one guy is like you know handwriting them all but you get that little

[21:46] note yeah like you know thank you for purchasing we did all this work and here’s your free stuff and here’s a soundtrack you get with it and here’s

[21:53] your little game manual that you never get and here’s a map that you get it’s like you don’t get that stuff anymore you you know go buy Call of Duty or

[22:01] whatever and it comes with the disc and maybe a cover a reversible cover I don’t know like what you get anymore so yeah you’ve honestly sold me on Jeff I think

[22:11] I’m gonna pick it up even just for the sake of like even if I never finish it yeah just say like you know what I I I want to support these developers like I

[22:20] want to pick the game up I want to pick it up new uh and I want to uh I just want to really wanted to play play but just knowing like how good they’ve been

[22:31] it’s like yeah you know what I’ll get behind that yeah no it’s good it’s a good game for sure but enough about my games Trevor

[22:39] you been up to never finally decide what he wants to play tonight yeah see Witcher never Witcher three yeah because if there’s

[22:49] anything I like it’s like unfinishable quests IIT uh Trevor I had one of your moments last week where I sat down to my steam library because like okay I got

[23:02] some time at the computer my wife was finishing up a show so I’m like okay well you know I’m going to let her finish that show before we watch

[23:08] something together and I looked at my steam Library I’m like okay that’s not installed that is I don’t want to get back into that that’s okay maybe not

[23:17] that one I’m just watching the clock tick I’m like okay uh well maybe you but yeah you’re a platform I don’t don’t and just looking at this

[23:26] Library if it’s like and then eventually I’m like I’ll just watch an episode of Bob’s

[23:35] spurgers oh yeah like the like wow I had a Trevor moment where I just froze and I couldn’t play anything like fine quickly becoming a verb I like that it’s like oh

[23:47] Trevor Tred it oh no I Tred it I Tred my time some L just thrown myself at a game I wasn’t as opposed to try think of the best it’s just like OverWatch fine just

[24:00] to choose something because I didn’t know otherwise I would just barrel down that hole and just waste time on like the internet or something

[24:07] instead um that was good so this week it was uh so Gravity Rush which took a bit of a still going great and I I cannot stress enough how amazing

[24:19] it feels to throw yourself around I’ve never seen flying in a game be this fulfilling like it is so cool the way you get to throw yourself about

[24:29] unbelievable I hear a butt coming there’s a butt oh no there’s no butts on that one okay all right that flying that flying will just that that’ll go down as

[24:37] some of the most satisfying movement I’ve ever had in the game Cool willing to say it and then that paired with the level design like how on

[24:44] Earth they came at four sections of be climbable fourways like all dimensions of it right and and they don’t skip on the maps like the maps are

[24:56] relatively big and intricate too there’s Alleyways and the alleyway will have a section that goes down and then you’re kind of underneath then you jump up to

[25:04] the ceiling and there’s this like ring of Collectibles you can get the upgrade system is still uh respectful I guess you could almost call it just where it’s

[25:14] you don’t have to go way out of your way to get enough um Collectibles to feel like you’re powerful enough to finish the levels now the only thing that kind

[25:23] of happened was it pulled a classic game thing where you went to one section I guess it’s relatively spoiler but this is like a 12-year-old game

[25:33] yeah you went to one part of the world where time went was at a different princess is in another cast yeah I was about to say I was about to say that

[25:39] same [Laughter] one the uh yeah spoiler alert when the little ball hits a brick it disappears

[25:49] and then comes back down towards you the so you go to a different part time moves at a different clip you return and and things have changed a

[25:59] year has passed like Since You Went Away although it only felt like you know 20 minutes to you and Visa V it’s like okay now

[26:06] everything’s kind of new again and you have to do a bunch of not the same Quest but just it that point you’re now looking

[26:13] out at the game and like oh how far out are you gonna go now because at that point like it been it progressing really nicely and it’s seem like this is going

[26:22] to be a nice tight package of a game and instead now it’s arrived at this point and it’s saying like I I don’t know how how much long they’re

[26:30] going to stretch this like is this thing going to be like another am I only a quarter of the way through the game am I halfway through

[26:37] the game I thought I was probably about three quarters of the way through and I could easily be just a quarter W like I’m I’m totally unsure so essentially

[26:47] game helped you get a really good start on building a sand castle and then it just walked up and kicked it over then sat on it and then then a

[26:57] pitch just opened up and sucked it down now it’s it’s it’s still it seems to be progressing at a decent clip but some some bits are just not falling into

[27:08] place where like you’re starting to see a conclusion like or like the big boss battle is coming like there’s still so many kind of unanswered questions that

[27:16] this protagonist has been answering that it’s just like it feels like I’m like probably only halfway and that’s going to start getting tiring so bit of a turn

[27:26] and loving it those still going through it um it probably will it if it does like keep disrespecting time I think I might drop it and get something

[27:36] else it’s funny otherwise there’s a bunch of uh the hockey of all games it was NHL 2016 so last year’s version um I just

[27:45] happened to have a big week of live sports like I got to literally three matches I got to see three hockey games recently so it just

[27:55] kind of put me into that mood and heck I even played a game of hockey for the first time in like six months so between all that I just got into a bit of a

[28:02] hockey mood and been playing that a bunch and after the initial shock of coming from like 2012 to 2016 once you start to get to this you

[28:13] start to get into the systems it’s like okay and one the thing about the NHL series is like generally every year there was the trick to score yeah and

[28:22] the one year it was okay well you got to deak this and then shoot then you’ll get it the one year it was one-timers like if you were going to score score you had

[28:28] to just do a one timer every goal which one was that was that 93 or 94 there was like a wraparound goal one too I remember playing old old games 93 maybe

[28:39] and you just wrap around no matter what you’d always score that was the one yeah this even more recent I think it was something like 2008 or 2010 it was just

[28:46] like the one-timer version you have want a goal you have to one-timer it uh this one feels a bit more natural actually like and I can only imagine what the 17

[28:53] feels like but 2016 like just you get in there and get a good shot and sometimes it just goes in like which is really great like some one of the things I

[29:03] always detract from is commonly you just you can never shoot and score like it’s got to be a one-time deflection wraparound like you said deak

[29:11] like you can’t just have a really great shot so that that one improved anyway having a great surprisingly having a great time with it half tempted to pick

[29:18] up the new one there was a advertisement that popped up in game for a discount on the new one I was just like huh do I want the one I Al I

[29:30] can’t yeah it just feels I don’t know that there I think there’s a bunch of features about like game management and career mode and just a bunch of things

[29:35] that like I’m literally just hopping and playing exhibition matches so I don’t think I’d take advantage of like a fifth of it so probably probably stay happily

[29:43] in the past the I never understood with those games like why wouldn’t you get a discount on the next one do you I mean

[29:51] like if you bought into like NHL 16 17’s going to be pretty much the same just rosters have switched so why wouldn’t they give you like hey

[30:01] 20% yeah but I guess people enough people just care and they buy it anyway yeah probably because they don’t never have had to Adobe software was

[30:10] like once you had a license you can get the upgrade version as opposed to the full version and then now it’s just like a

[30:16] subscription base so maybe that’s where the NHL series should go oh don’t say that they’ll totally going to do that now let’s put it out

[30:25] there that’s going to get bleep to post everybody just IDE it’s like a premonition of the future oh no subscription

[30:34] based you know G hold of that idea they would be like wait a second totally Scrooge McDuck into money every day we just applied this business

[30:47] model yeah man monthly fee dad gaming yeah monthly so you get all the updates and if you want to participate in the monthly cup or whatever they have

[30:59] you have to pay the fee every month stop it just stop

[31:07] it the um yeah know other I just had a like I said another the weekly crisis this week I was thinking I had had a moment of meditation where I was just at

[31:18] an event and I had like an hour to think like I didn’t really have anything to do there during the hockey game not definitely note I’m honestly jealous of

[31:27] you having an hour to think yeah it’s wild like some good think time haven’t had that in a bit and just it was what the thing the thinking was you know as

[31:38] much as I like to stay up and do things at night be it uh work like I I tend to work a lot at night um video games of course or just reading

[31:47] or Internet like all any of those things like as much as I love to stay up in and I’ve always been a late night type of person um and and also just generally

[31:55] I’ve never really operated on much sleep um with with an decent amount of comfort but now especially just with my son waking up every day at 5:30 or 6 and me

[32:05] having to wake up it’s just it’s like you know it would make a lot more sense if you’d go to bed at like 10:30 like you’re gonna feel a lot

[32:12] better if you would just go to bed you would and it’s I would and it’s just just that feels like a little part of me that’s G

[32:21] that feels like me killing a little part of me like like I’ve always had those moments at night where it’s that’s me you know like that that’s my little bit

[32:29] of time and it’s games yeah work study like any number of things and it’s just like if I murder that I’ll be less tired and that’s a I don’t know it’s an

[32:44] interesting battle because getting a better amount of sleep is never proven to be a bad thing why don’t you oh go ahead sorry why don’t you do that for a

[32:55] while and then you know your son’s not going to always wake up 5:30 yeah I’ve been told that before no you can sleep you can sleep train them

[33:03] until when they’re older to notice then you can sleep train them get like a little alarm clock like we have an alarm clock it goes uh yellow like the sun and

[33:13] that’s when he’s allowed to wake up and disturb us otherwise it’s blue that means you’re in your bed not get should not be red like back to bed I’m like a

[33:23] vampire or something just red eyes something I do sometimes is uh like because I I have the same sort of thing where it’s like the family’s gone to bed

[33:32] I got to place myself I just sit watch a movie or play some video games or just you know do some reading or some research but like there are certain

[33:43] times where it’s like I got to recharge the batteries so like rather than it being like a like a consistent rule just sort of be like okay you know what I’m

[33:53] feeling a little drained I think this week I’m GNA try to get two or three nights where I go to bed of an hour earlier and then that sort of just helps

[34:05] you know the payoffs from the Sleep debt that you’re having from having to get up so early because that’s the thing too is like now that I used to get up

[34:15] consistently about 7:30 um where now it’s like more like 7 um I know big change um how do you manage I know I know well actually what

[34:27] was funny is before the 7:30 wake up like my wife and I used to sleep in until like almost 9 CU we’re both independent contractors the days and

[34:36] then now I’m like I don’t know what that is anymore I don’t know what the the idea of sleeping like I’m shocked if I get up

[34:46] and the Sun is beating me to it like that surprises me now well then you’re like I wasted so much time I could have done so many things

[34:58] that’s thing I had another friend of mine who’s also a dad and he was a dad well before us um but he told me he’s like you’re G to be shocked after you

[35:09] become a dad thinking back to how much time you wasted like how much time you had and how little you appreciated it and it’s so very true because you’re

[35:20] like yeah it’s like there was all these times it’s like I just I lazed boat like like Saturdays was the day where my wife would to work and I’d have the house to

[35:28] myself and I I just have the day off and I had the place myself and like the dog and I would sleep in that was it that was our

[35:39] plan comp most of the morning like yeah dog and I are gonna sleep in maybe like I’m gonna set the alarm just for the fun of hitting the snooze

[35:48] button half dozen times Saturday no it’s so true because yeah 10:30 11:00 was our wakeup time kind of thing before kids I was thinking

[36:02] of that that that exact one is just like you know we would sleep until like 11:30 just I can’t I can’t imagine any any world where that exists now well

[36:13] what’s funny too is like this morning um like I was uh getting ready for a Skype call with some other people that I’m working with and oh hold on do you have

[36:23] another podcast you’re not telling us about like our weekly sort of newer dad gaming yeah and uh someone like oh getting just waiting for the coffee

[36:36] maker like I’ve already had a couple like they’re already in yeah and like I’m well awake I’ve been awake like there’s like oh this person’s just kind

[36:46] of getting to their thing and it’s like I’m like guys I’ve been up for like almost four hours now like like literally before before my morning

[36:55] shower today I clean the bathroom like that was the time like hey this is a good time for me to finally get to that chore like I did chores before getting

[37:04] ready and it’s weird like that sort of because like those opportunities aren’t you can’t really find other chances to do those because it’s like when the

[37:13] baby’s up or when the baby’s not in her high chair having breakfast with the other parent you’re not afraid to do that so it’s like both my wife and I

[37:22] are finding alternate solutions to like time management but not just time management for chores and responsibilities but also time

[37:30] management for like you know just time for ourselves so as you said like you know end of day like family’s asleep we get to sort of that’s when my wife and I

[37:39] get to watch shows together that’s when I get to play some video games where we get to play some games together uh we’re going to be shifting over the one naap

[37:46] schedule soon which we lose that little bit of time in the morning where we could uh just have some downtime and read a book or something um but in

[37:57] exchange for that the afternoon nap is longer so we can like in the afternoon you can actually tuck into something a little bit more substantial like you

[38:06] actually watch a whole movie if you wanted to because baby’s sleeping um where now it’s like the duration of time that they’re napping isn’t long enough

[38:14] to do something like that so I think even for like playing video games having an extra bit of time could be a lot of fun so uh but yeah it’s finding those

[38:22] windows and getting stuff done stuff for your own sample no think that’s uh not there some good advice so as far as like perhaps uh not seeing it as a binary

[38:33] where it’s like okay now it’s it’s all dead late late night self time is all dead or late night self time will go on to the deprt of the rest of my life so

[38:44] yeah yeah end of day you’re like okay what do I need more do I need to unwind or do I need sleep don’t make me

[38:54] choose I can’t it be both yeah that you can wear when you’re sleeping and it like augments your dreams oh oh yeah

[39:05] segue Universe like the question becomes is like is the death segue better or is that VR segue I’m gonna give it to death I think the death segue with Iron Man

[39:15] was pretty [Laughter] smooth yeah man the geez so 13th psvr the pro like if I can find it I

[39:26] will buy it like I I am just especially after having trying it like I’m just I’m ready to go like I it’s even for the cont I think I’m I

[39:36] have concerns much like everybody else about the long-term viability of it are is this something that developers are going to really Embrace is this going to

[39:44] be the next vaita as far as like there’s not really going to be that much content especially given that it’s PlayStation specific as opposed to let’s say VR on

[39:53] computer but like I’m I’m convinced I’m ready to go I just I can’t imagine when I’m going to find it because like all the all the pre-orders were sold out in

[40:03] March yeah right and I know they’re gonna have some f Day One units at like Best Buy and Eevee games and I’m not going to camp out

[40:14] though like I’m not about to go spend the entire night do you have any family that live in like smaller towns I got um hit them up yeah get out

[40:23] of get out of the greater Toronto area because you’re not going to find one here but like should just put a bounty on it

[40:31] yeah put a bounty out there now right now just to those listening yeah to all of our listeners

[40:39] anyway the man case of your finest beers yeah yeah I think I could strategically like put it out there and

[40:51] see if someone could find it um I I generally hope it’ll be within the first couple weeks although it’s yeah you just sit being I don’t know

[40:59] it’s it’s hard to gauge because it’s an expensive thing right like that is and it doesn’t quite have the public hype it’s certainly hyped like I think people

[41:08] are relatively excited for it but are they $800 gaming periphery hyped as opposed to like the iPhone for

[41:17] instance like it it it’s hard to tell so I’m curious to see the demand and how long this thing stays out of

[41:27] I don’t think quantities like yeah I don’t I think people are hyped but not hyped enough I think a lot of people are like wait and see because of the price

[41:35] tag and if PS or Playstation would support it like the points you said with the vaita and even the move controllers yeah look at this great

[41:46] thing and then it dies so I VR VR is slightly different like I think it’s got a life to it because other companies are doing it and pushing it but they don’t

[41:54] have doing the move thing too though if people the we like PlayStation was there to emulate what another company was already doing yeah the same PlayStation

[42:03] VR is emulating what UL Rift was doing with the exception of supporting Donald Trump um but such a bad thing for them topical oh man did they ever take a hit

[42:16] uh that’s what you get but yeah it’s it’s when you see these sort of more experimental Interactive opportunities

[42:29] it’s do you get in on the ground floor is there a lot of added benefit to getting in on the ground floor or will your experience be just as fulfilling if

[42:37] you hold out and just wait to see how everything settles out um because like sometimes like I’m I’m I’m very much the type of person who likes to just hang

[42:48] back and it’s like like if if I was in a war I wouldn’t be the first one over the trench i’ hold on let’s see what happens guys I’m just going to hang back here

[43:01] everybody run so we’re on Normandy no no no I’m just gonna wait in the boat just hold on I’ll be part of the I’ll be part of the

[43:09] wave but I’m gonna be in like the boat eight I get it like there’s no like like absolute killer app but I think Eve Valkyrie did it for yeah I was gonna say

[43:22] don’t e Valkyrie you played it oh it’s amazing and here in Star Wars Battlefront and that I get it for free because I own Battlefront the uh the

[43:32] X-Wing thing that everyone’s been talking about if I see footage of that that will be crazy I think I think project I think project cars is really

[43:41] gonna do it too like sitting yep Drive Club I the car SE oh Sor is it drive maybe it’s Drive Club actually so Drive Club and just being in the car and being

[43:51] able to look to your left and check out the rearview Mir mirror of the guy like going behind you like that’s I think honestly I think there’s

[43:58] going to be sleepers like Super Hyper Cube yep where it like it’s just full embracing of a truly virtual world as opposed to trying to mock reality is

[44:11] that Phil fish I thought it was Fez R Cube maybe I could see like it’s got um but the when I hear when I hear people who’ve tried VR and SK especially

[44:24] Skeptics who’ve tried VR but then they played that game it kind of just turn their head a little bit cuz what you imagine is oh I’m in a car or oh I’m

[44:32] like in in an airplane or a spaceship you know you imagine like virtual reality literally but what if that you’re transported into these

[44:41] Fantastical worlds more than just even just F classic fantasy like tolken Lord of the Ring stuff like it’s futuristic colorful explosions and you’re just in

[44:51] this different space this different type of reality like that to hear Skeptics talk about that experience could be trans transformative too hyperbolic but

[45:01] um I I think it it’s just it’s it’s really interesting application of it that’s what they have to like hit on though because I think right now it’s

[45:09] like here’s your experience here’s this experience so we’re less games and more like hey let’s try this out so I think they need the full-fledged this is your

[45:19] game you can play start finish in VR built for it work it so if you see for instance we’re still figuring out what VR is like

[45:30] what what is its capabilities how how far do we push the reality that you’re experiencing virtually um you know there’s there’s a

[45:41] lot of really oh and also Jeff uh you were correct um Phil and polyr are yeah that’s there um yeah it’s I think right now because

[45:55] it’s still very much in its infancy like you’re seeing an offshoot of games that are being uh like retrofitted and like

[46:03] reverse engineered to you kind of a Guyver Jerry rigot to fit VR um but then you have other ones that are just being designed from the ground up to to

[46:14] utilize that experience and it’s I think right now before you can see like that full like put it this way is third person action

[46:25] games like how many decades did we need uh third person action games and and action RPG games to get to The Witcher

[46:34] 3 right you know it’s it’s so like to get to that sort of even the consoles as they stand now minus the VR like how many console Generations like you know

[46:45] you look at like the Atari 2600 um and then like all the way up like and then now we’re just starting to get these complete cohesive packages but

[46:55] when you look at like the first like miari 2600 had a huge Gambit of different types of games everything Platformers some weird sort of like faux

[47:03] 3D tank gun battles and stuff so I think right now we’re like what we’re seeing in VR now although extremely polished and very artistic is like the Atari

[47:15] 2600 of what VR will be um so it’s it’s that sort of thing is like figuring out where does it grow and like which of these seeds that are being planted are

[47:26] the ones that are going to take root in Germany into the thing that’s going to be and that’s the that’s the waiting period that we’re in right now yeah but

[47:35] um yeah so my commitment to it is on on literally on my way to work I actually passed a Best Buy and a I guess technically two e games there’s a bigger

[47:44] one on the street there’s one inside the mall yeah so my commitment to it would be I will be there at 9:00 for all then I’ll check those three

[47:54] spots the day of so 13th and check those three places to see if any of them have like a spare unit and that’s about it like you know I’m not going to I’m not

[48:03] going to do the overnight I’m not going to pay some exorbitant price yeah I saw on eBay people selling their pre-orders like like they had screenshots of their

[48:13] online purchase and they’re like you can buy this pre- purchase for you know whatever big amount I think it’s like 1,500 like for some of them yeah and

[48:22] even then it’s not guaranteed to be there on the launch day like some of those things we we won’t go that far but like I said

[48:29] I can get a hold of so I think we’ll we’ll have another episode of this before launch today because we’re only at the third so we got uh 10 days yeah

[48:38] the next episode will be done from a tent in front of the I somehow found well I’m live here on location

[48:49] waiting for on Young Street I’m 400 line I think I got a good chance I got my tent I got my piss jug I got everything we

[49:00] need I got my piss jug and my apple juice jug I’ve only confused them twice I like those odds speak so speaking of piss jugs do

[49:12] we talk about beer now wow the transitions are off the charts okay just went there oh have a good beer this week too

[49:25] I like mine to say did it tastes like pisss I hope you guys like your beers after that so the uh yeah let’s go ahead and do our beer picks for the week so

[49:34] this is actually so this is an opportunity for me to talk about one I’ve talked about before but I noticed it it came in

[49:42] stubby bottles now which was I’m a sucker for Aesthetics I gotta say so it’s they did a label old timey and it’s done in the stubby bottles which I

[49:52] absolutely love so this is I picked up more of the K’s banquet beer oh yeah oh this a fantastic I already had one previously so I’m holding a Clos

[50:01] one actually got some perspiration on it looking absolutely delicious so the so quick tip though um I love this bottle I I don’t necessarily regret the purchase

[50:14] it absolutely tastes better in the can does it wow I don’t and I had I had somebody else confirm this like I had I had somebody who had this with me and

[50:22] then we went to one of those hockey games that we had the can at the stadium much better in the can I don’t know how I don’t know why yeah it’s I don’t

[50:31] know it’s like reveals its true taste and the can like conceals it but uh no but I’ve had the thing on top as well um I’ve had it in all

[50:44] manners and ultimately again when you say Kors like you instantly go to Kors light yep which is kind of like swamp water like it’s it’s very watery like

[50:54] it’s not really regarded obviously as a delicious beer necessary neily especially from kind of like this craft thing we type like to do so you would

[51:02] commonly you would scoff at Kors banquet but uh if you look into it I I think it’s my dad who explained it to me like they they have a pretty good beer

[51:12] history classically and this banquet stuff is like literally done four big Banquets and it seems like this is almost a return to that Heritage so this

[51:19] beer is it’s very approachable it’s very basic in a very complimentary way if I can say that like this is not it’s not overreaching it’s just a very

[51:30] flavorful delicious basic beer and it’s excellent like I I do go for it as many times as I can so I would encourage anybody to just kind of put aside what

[51:41] they think of Kors and give this one a shot Coors Banquet and again if you can get for some reason if you can get it in the can that does seem to be the

[51:49] preferred method unless it’s on draft of course as long as it’s not telling me to wait for the mountains to turn blue I will happily try it

[51:58] it’s like liter like Flavor literally dies the colder it gets like that that’s awful like come on what are you saying but K Kors banquet beard I highly

[52:11] recommend it nice I I will I will give it a try um I’ll quickly get into my uh my beer pick uh Jeff uh this happens to be

[52:26] brewed in the place you’re in and my wife’s Hometown Oakville Ontario nice Cameron’s groom uh and this is actually my wife’s pick um she picked me up some

[52:38] beer the other night and she was like I’m gonna get your beer for the podcast I’m like yes please and she pick one which is actually um before I say the

[52:48] name and stuff I’ll just say really really tasty a nice weight to it like it was it was heavy but not overly hoppy which is a weird combination

[52:57] usually yeah like to have heavy and smooth um you don’t find that very often uh this is a golden logger um and yeah it was had this nice density to it it

[53:08] was nice and smooth didn’t overstay its welcome not overly hoppy or bitter uh really liked it it was Cameron’s Brewing uh Captain’s Log

[53:19] logger nice that’s awesome yeah so my wife saw the can and she saw the name she was just like okay I have to get this and then when I saw it I’m like yes

[53:30] you did have to get it thank you for getting wow and actually wow it’s one three Golds um gold medal for Ontario Brewing Awards gold in the Canadian

[53:40] Brewing Awards and gold in the US Open beer Championship oh so it’s doing well yeah uh and for good reason it was a really nice smooth easy drinking beer

[53:52] one will satisfy you but it won’t turn you off from having another so I highly recommend it this is actually as far as my beer picks this is one of my

[54:01] favorites so far I have to go and get one good yeah I was description sold me yeah so man kudos to your wife that’s fantastic yeah no uh she knocked it over

[54:12] the park she picked a good one there so I might be getting a few more of those perfect name like the name really yeah um so good for my week hawkley

[54:25] classic brw in Orangeville Ontario it’s about an hour north um kind of tastes like an orchard like an apple orchard it’s got very Appley

[54:39] taste not like good way I’m trying to decide It’s Kind it’s kind of tastes like a farm it’s it there’s Apple in it but it it’s

[54:51] not I don’t know like by on purpose or just like that’s like a note that comes out of it there’s a note that in there it it’s

[54:58] definitely apple or some other fall kind of like cranberry or something like that something’s in there very Thanksgiving so maybe it’s timely beer pardon is a

[55:10] pumpkin spice God no oh God but it’s it’s watery too so it kind of waters down that which is good but then the beer kind of goes like the flavor of the

[55:21] beer doesn’t come through eh I wouldn’t have another yeah a let down on that one but I will I will say so Hawley um I’ve had great

[55:32] success with them and they sell they tend to sell this pack and I think it’s either like a three or a four pack and they have like three or four different

[55:39] varieties one of them has this like black and silver can design to it yeah there’s a dark one maybe that’s the dark I don’t know I saw a few of yeah it

[55:46] could be yeah yeah Hockley generally like if you want to give that Brewery another shot like the rest of their beers I’ve had like they really are

[55:53] fantastic they make a good product yeah this look like they might have just didn’t didn’t work for me on that one but it’s very again thanksgiving’s

[56:02] around the corner for us Canadians maybe that does it I’m not sure I don’t know well first thing it’s generally good to celebrate both

[56:11] thanksgivings really just like oh yeah want to cover all the bases why not first first turkeys and second turkeys of

[56:19] course seconds beautiful great picks everybody so I think with that we’ll wrap it up for the week
