[0:00] that is everything I’m more terrified about the driving aspect really care about that yeah yeah it’s in like they’re off the leash right like you

[0:12] don’t know where they are I guess the thought of like yeah just completely on their own like doing my problems like well the

[0:25] problems like you kind of know is you were a teenager and and you know exactly what’s up and that’s well yeah that’s yeah but that being said there’s

[0:36] probably a lot more tools these days right social media I get tracked them it’s like FaceTime their phone I don’t like which way you’re going with having

[0:45] tools for you or tools for them and you went with for yourself that’s like it’s me and then they have to if well if I’ve taught them well or they’ll circumvent

[0:54] it with other technology and they’ll know how to get around it they counter my tech with more tech better tech tech war no actually I landed on this stream

[1:06] actually to jump right into it gonna do the intro that I wanted to keep going this is hilarious these the adult beverages are poured the kids are asleep

[1:21] welcome to new dad gaming a show about fatherhood gaming and new fathers figuring out their gaming lives my name is Trevor and I have a two-year-old and

[1:29] another on the way and my name is Jeff I have a seven year old and a four year old no teenagers yet it’s so close like less than double your

[1:42] one sons Karen age so I mean like the I don’t know if that’s ever had that conversation with your parents I don’t know that I had what the conversation no

[1:55] [Laughter] we getting that there’s more just the man who kind of care sock to ask my parents not just that the thought of you

[2:06] must have known what I was up to when I was a teenager like I was a particularly bad or off the wall but all thing doing teenager young adult things and

[2:17] it’s like at some point when you went out like you tried to like sneak in like you’re super clever it’s like they just totally know what you’re doing

[2:25] yeah I could I don’t know I think my mom was pretty oblivious to again I wasn’t a bad kid I didn’t do stupid stuff that I really know if I guess but know that I’m

[2:42] gonna arrow I’m here yeah all right so tell the world your secrets Jay yeah you know I mean like it wasn’t it wasn’t like I was chased by the cops and then

[2:51] like don’t recover at home but there are some stuff that I don’t think she knows but I in fact that’s funny because usually the Christmas dinners now we say

[3:02] that’s hateful I tell old stories about like did you know when I did this and you could see the look of horror her face is like this

[3:19] image in her back just like chipping away swell yeah innocent son is gone I don’t know she didn’t know about a lot of stuff I had told her so

[3:29] okay yeah I don’t know I just I don’t think I really got away with anything in particular that they didn’t weren’t aware of then yeah then I wasn’t

[3:39] quote-unquote caught at the time I just doubt there was ever a time when I had done something I said any time when I was young I did something I thought I

[3:46] pulled it off in retrospect now and especially as a parent I just like I swear that they just knew it the whole about it now because well and there’s a

[3:56] lot of door like just knowing you have family too right you have three others right so three seven I only have I have one other brother so there’s only one

[4:07] leak that I could go after if I knew where you came from so I’d like to think we kept pretty tight around that but who knows it helped he sold that for the

[4:20] keys in the car who knows Oh with the jumping in – how was your week in fatherhood and game fatherhood was good he had another

[4:30] birthday party this past weekend so they’re getting better with the ones that I at least go to not host it was a seven year olds birthday party so it was

[4:40] like a round of golf it was still mini but not like actually there thank God you know it was it was pretty well behaved for the most part so you

[5:00] can see the teenager nish kind of creeping up though like to get into more antics but they know how to get away with it and so it’s getting better it’s

[5:11] not like the indoor play places which I’m kind of sick of after five years of having them so or canikin away from that which is great in terms of gaming I’m

[5:23] still working on Final Fantasy 15 and jumped into pillars of eternity again so it’s kind of ones I’m like my Mac and then the other was on ps4 so I kind of

[5:33] separated that way whatever I kind of feel like lounging on the couch it’s Final Fantasy but computer and all business and I’ll jump

[5:41] into a game and then except bring a little bit of business yes nice what what like they love to watch it so far visited theme that’s okay pillars of

[5:54] attorneys get some go earn it so I’m like yeah it’s so much look so walk me through though cuz I still can’t so we’re in the mode of when my son is up

[6:03] it’s you know you need to contain the tornado so yeah it’s not like so it still baffles me I’ve picked you a couple times on this like you play games

[6:15] while your kids are awake like how that how the hell does that happen yeah is this like you arranged it with your wife or like you’re gonna from two

[6:26] to three you’re going to and if they come in that’s great like with what we say this afternoon like the last time it happened okay what time is it so we were

[6:34] criteria to be met okay first of all they have to be well behaved like if they’re not well behaved during the day there’s

[6:41] no chance of playing a video game so that usually doesn’t nice so it rolls out 95% yeah so sometimes that happens sometimes it doesn’t

[6:52] second is like if it’s kind of like a rainy day or something the weather usually plays a big part like if we’re out and about and we’ve had a long day

[6:59] at the splash pad or a birthday party or whatever we come home like that’s it I’m not I’m not playing a game at least with them I might play it later on when

[7:07] they’ve gone to bed that’s kind of step 2 but if it’s again like a rainy a rainy day I’ll kind of it’s almost giving my wife a break

[7:16] and I’ll take the kids and we’ll go downstairs and we’ll play something that they can both either participate in or they just want to watch which is great

[7:23] because I remember having that with my brother I would play the video games and huge watch so I like that as a schedule test

[7:32] it’s like in a sense that like hey hey boys do you want to go play a bit more yeah it’s more like you wing it it’s not usually early in the morning I kind of

[7:41] want them not to I don’t know stare at a video game all day like we’ll just play an hour to break up the afternoon but they’ll have to read a

[7:50] book first or do a sheet which is usually like like math problems or like a line of text that they have to write out so that’s like their little homework

[8:00] and then they get this reward which is my reward really great reward thank you guys I’ll go play and they finished all the dinner they get to watch you eat an

[8:12] ice cream like what yeah here’s your reward system in your house you have sorry guys you don’t get one that’s big deal see it’s about the ice cream I’ll

[8:24] eat it damn it but yeah so sometimes it happens during the day most of times it does happen at night when my youngest is asleep my oldest could stay up an extra

[8:34] hour so I’ll play with him and then he’s usually a bit more advanced to so he can participate in the games too and that’s what I kind of want to if he’s always

[8:42] watching all the time he’s not gonna get as good as me and I won’t have proper competition when he’s a teenager so like a backfire though like the good some

[8:50] point is just gonna start really tense yeah you ascended meet that’s it I quit video games I’m gonna really love the house

[8:58] like well no are they good enough like off you go I’m totally well oh my fault you got good so quick you leveled up too quickly

[9:07] get on to the pro scene son Oh since I’m on his way without a controller and yeah bring that some money I’m gonna cut that you say yeah demand for a 15% yeah but

[9:24] you know that’s that’s about it that’s kind of how it happens but some most days it they misbehave one way or another so it’s that not really gonna

[9:35] happen tell me that’s a dream that was fantastic the space may you have them do lines of math or writing or something like that you just have sheets that this

[9:47] is a outside of school work you go yeah yeah we just print them off the internet or at least my wife does she’s found a couple just good sites and they’re just

[9:55] like dotted lines for my youngest just to kind of trace her on the letters and my oldest loves maths we just random math problems for him to do and then it

[10:04] it’s kind of fun to them in a way like it doesn’t feel like schoolwork yet maybe they’re a little bit naive on that fact until they get wise to you later

[10:14] yeah well the best but your son’s gonna eventually get homework oh yeah it’s like what you mean have to do that yeah I do this already

[10:21] wait a minute yeah it’s a great n big that’s awesome though like that’s like it’s just something that makes them kind of stop and think instead of asking

[10:39] about it all the time cuz otherwise you just ask me constantly to play video games play video games but they know that they have to do something first

[10:44] it’s kind of like it makes a mess once in a while versus every day every hour how bad do you want it like yes exactly I don’t miss much math if you want it go

[10:57] down and play with my Lego alright sorry read a book I guess whatever dad yeah but that’s pretty good anyway how was your week yeah so the said gaming

[11:14] just uh just a couple sessions of Farpoint and oh yeah yeah had read where it’s very much I found it turns out that you can move

[11:24] around in the lobby which I had known about before so you get into the lobby and you’re just looking at this likes room instead of a Space Center okay very

[11:36] word for that what CSS can wet swag NASA the ISS the space base on Space Station is a just called a space station okay so it’s a reminisce base station yeah and

[11:49] but you can actually move around so you able to like kind of walk around and check out the corridor like with his sleep and notes around it

[11:56] he can’t read them just nonsense notes but what does that meant though is that full movement or is it like the yeah the wave you can okay cool what’s really

[12:04] interesting with the movement that they did is it’s actually you can control it so they’ve designed the levels that you could totally do without turning your

[12:13] character if you want to so you can move the character just like strafe left right forward back all the levels that they’ve they built it very specifically

[12:23] so that you went like that would become an issue you didn’t have to take turns however you can enable it oh so it’s either I think we can that’s the that

[12:33] turning and I could definitely see it too because it is a little bit disorienting yeah where when you the back and forth and everything you get

[12:41] used to you get your legs in it but when you when you’re swinging like back and forth yeah is that your actual body doing that

[12:46] like it becomes very kind of confusing and I think ultimately like if you had more route like I don’t have a lot of room in my setup so I don’t really stand

[12:56] up or anything but I imagine if you’re able to actually stand up you can probably just actually kind of shift your body a bit more oh you’re not

[13:02] standing up during dang you know the way my room is set about on every roof okay it’s a TV in the couch and I have just enough room that I can sit on the couch

[13:11] okay not stand I’d have to be like on my knees on my couch if I wanted to do it that way see that’s what I felt like with dirt rally I had to be sitting down

[13:20] a battle zone where the tank when I had to be sitting down cuz I felt like I was like driving a vehicle right but the other ones where I was like the rush of

[13:29] blood or whatever I guess he was standing and then when it went to the roller coaster I had to sit down I don’t know it was like a weird my mind had a

[13:37] better time with kind of getting that information and putting it ok you are sitting in this world it’s not yours no no you must you must sit sir like

[13:47] this is yeah you need to be immersed that way so the it was found that a bit but this someone found online like a cheeky kind of sub game that they

[13:58] included in that menu where you can take either there’s a sport hole in the one side that just stares down in a hole anything you can like bat things into it

[14:07] with your gun because I bow to you then it’s like the cans or like a coffee maker sitting in front of you just like slam it kinda like a cat towards the

[14:14] whole like points come off thank you it’s alright to be like wait is way too much fun you’re just like these people have created this whole fight like

[14:24] incredible VR shooting world and like you can add to the number idiots not like the menu like woo they just try to bat random items and I I hope that you

[14:35] have it playing on your TV screen and your wife comes in and just like like this is what VR is and you’re just batting this thing this is you know five

[14:45] dollars this is right now was this worth it where are you gonna get in here so yeah a couple really tiny ones of that and yeah otherwise I guess I just

[14:59] keep thinking about gaming when the kid comes and exactly what to do with setup or right on what does in uh those an EA games and this I’m not gonna buy this

[15:12] thing well I get it passed like have that fleeting moment of like that would actually kind of work and be interesting okay but it’s one of those like TV cases

[15:20] so it’s where it’s a suitcase it opens up and it holds your system and then the top drawer is a TV and like I monitor everything so I can all in one you just

[15:32] and they just have it you have this place things somewhere and then when it comes time as Ossa having to go to a particular part of your house where

[15:41] everything’s set up it’s just like alright guys this is like 20 minutes black load up the suitcase and get going so one of those like looking at a

[15:49] fleeting moments of like oh that’s it’s not a bad idea that make yeah its youth market for that yeah but the that’s about it it’s gonna take a long time I

[16:00] kept I keep wanting to get in and I keep trying to find like 30 minutes to an hour to finish uncharted because I’m at the end of it like oh yeah I am I just

[16:10] think I don’t it just comes down to it and like I guess what I’m concerned about is that I think it still gonna be more than 30 minutes to an hour to

[16:17] finish it yeah and that’s probably a hard one to stop in the middle if you had like to get out of it right cuz the narrative

[16:24] could keep going and then you’re like come on I found that a couple times with that one so yeah I did want it so I do look at so you know for like such like

[16:33] sparse time that I get to do something like this it’s still like the 15 minute like sessions where it’s like I prefer just a VR shoot some spiders I guess and

[16:41] I get back ya know father was the yeah I don’t wanna keep like being a downer on this show this show but it’s a lot of stuff womp womp womp there’s just a lot

[16:58] of stuff flooding in like as we keep approaching number two oh yeah at the and there’s two things that was kind of sacked of all things what what is now

[17:11] like has to be one of my favorite things in the world is especially the it’s either like maybe sometime in the morning after he’s fed and kind of like

[17:20] settled down a bit will watch like a little bit of TV there and he’s sitting on the couch and then he taps beside him like up Oh like in trying to say no for

[17:30] me to sit beside him oh yeah that’s cute so he taps like outside on the come and sit here yeah and then I do and you just kind of like that like cuddle together

[17:40] and like watch a little bit TV right and it’s like that’s so that is one now one of my favorite things in the war like things that is so awesome across

[17:50] the board and that’s gonna go away look it’s good what is that that’s like it relatively sure I don’t know how old he would care to do that like I’m trying to

[18:02] think about like there’s a four-year-old want that same type of like interactivity does like a six-year-old probably like I can’t imagine and like a

[18:13] six-year-old doing that and it’s just like this will end like this is which is six Oh like I don’t I don’t like to think of anything that we’re doing like

[18:21] that but this it’s I get caught sometimes and raising him was just like when you know like I mentioned last week when he said he started to string

[18:29] together two-word sentences and it’s like you’re never gonna not talk again like that par a he’s like these milestones well joyous are also sad

[18:40] because it’s just like this it’s it’s passing of things that you enjoy and aren’t gonna happen so the yeah he did that a couple times

[18:47] this weekend I just like it started really struck me as far as like damn I’m gonna miss that cuz I like this so yeah commuter this that’ll I think that would

[18:59] continue I think well having a seven and four-year-old they are on you to do whatever so the my youngest still calls me to watch something with him like he

[19:10] doesn’t want to be by himself to watch it you wants to watch something with me so that still kind of happens my oldest wants to do everything with me he’ll

[19:16] wanna go outside ride a bike go play video game but he wants me to watch him even go downstairs and play Lego is something he wants me to be around which

[19:29] is great because otherwise like you will kind of get uneasy you’re like wow this is we’re gonna have to this is I split my time he’s gotta go off in his own a

[19:39] little bit and you’ve got to be with a little one which will be a little bit tough to begin with but they always want you around like unless you’re constantly

[19:49] yelling at them away because I don’t see that changing or I can imagine I might have some like kids who just have a certain personality where it’s like

[19:57] super independent perhaps that’s funny like that in exact segue though that’s the second thing that really started to strike me

[20:04] is I think we were at a mall picking up something for a birthday party we’d actually also gone to just today which was funny because like we did we’re one

[20:14] of two parents that had two-year-olds I want to said one year olds right or under yeah look and they’re having a fine time because they’re just on picnic

[20:21] blankets and they’re all like within this radius because the little ones can’t move right I’m running around like a jerk like on the outside I got a

[20:28] kilometer away you’re watching this party I don’t we saw this like I posted a photo and it’s literally my son in like barefoot nice pants that are soaked

[20:38] shirtless chasing a squirrel around it yeah just tearing after this squirrel like a savage and there’s this like the other side of this is this like

[20:49] well-behaved group of 1 year olds having a birthday party was like food and drink yeah I got trying to mangle my feral kid who’s trying to like eat squirrels

[20:59] apparently but um yeah don’t go now just chasing the wild anymore my kids run around and when there’s not to scare you but when there’s two of them and they’re

[21:12] both going in opposite directions you have to have like a code with with your wife or your significant other you’re just like right you got that one I get

[21:20] this one they’re like otherwise it’s just like to take off to the one and you forget the other fun or you just like jumbled yourself man but um yes I guess

[21:32] the thing that like so we were so we’re shopping for that birthday party I think we’d stop for a bite to eat and playing with them a bit and the kids Center that

[21:40] was there and the thinking around our time with him will be haft we’re you know it’s been sewed kind of that focus on him and like the time ago that we’ve

[21:52] had has been really great and especially in like retrospect it imagine at the beginning to like see now would be a good 10 of a montage of way

[22:01] oh god yeah exactly that now but but in retrospect where it’s the the focus on the time that you could spend with them just like it’s like he’s alone as

[22:14] two of us and it’s just us and him enough to be able to like like dote on him are all of our affection and focus now like I remember I think I think it

[22:24] was even you who had referenced a quote that’s saying that we have a second kid it’s not like you have to split up your heart in half it’s more that your heart

[22:31] doubles and like it would you have to really like that thinking that’s really reassuring to me but the time like time is definitely finite and focus is – and

[22:41] I guess I try to think about like so I wanted to get your opinion on that because like I’m thinking to this the second one comes around and it’s just

[22:49] it’s a feels like a double whammy where like the second kid is not gonna get the focus that this first one had where we were able to just give him everything we

[22:56] were because of time like just they’re down two of them so like their hats they need both both needs some of our time and now the first one also suffers is a

[23:06] bit of a strong word but like he will see a decrease in the focus on him very notably because there’s this other one to do was if you can recall your

[23:15] transition when the second one came and that going through that like what happens now when there’s two and a time like from it yeah well in the beginning

[23:26] it’s gonna be kind of a mess just because you do you have a newborn so planets right I like that their needs are like completely illogical like

[23:36] they’re just off the wall like you know I’m kind of hungry but not quite whatever I’ve maybe have a dirty diaper maybe not and you’re just kind of

[23:44] running around trying to fit the routine you had with your first one into the second one and for the most part it does work it’s just our second at least was a

[23:52] a different child and different needs and different sleep times different all that so once you get acclimated to that and they get a little bit older so

[24:01] closer to one you’ll see that the time that you kind of miss with your first is is filled with that sibling time so they start to play together so I think that

[24:17] bond that develops is a lot not stronger of like your bond but it’s something that kind of makes them grow up and it makes your second one

[24:28] faster so I’d watch that to the milestones you kind of experienced with your first I think it’s gonna be a lot quicker with your second just just by

[24:37] nature of them being together and the older one wants to do stuff that the older one wants to do and younger one wants to tag along so that seems to go

[24:45] quicker and that bond develops pretty soon and that kind of fills their time so you’re not so worried about them I think they’ll figure it out and it won’t

[24:57] seem at least to my kids it didn’t seem like I was ignoring them in any way they had their own time together what I think did helped was like one-on-one time

[25:09] together so if you took your oldest out to a movie or something just you at him time I think that once in a while definitely kind of reassures him that

[25:20] you know nothing’s like changing that’s like crazy like well yeah well we are it’s changed forever their son so the okay we don’t get not gonna see you

[25:32] through often best of luck yeah all right now and then but you know once when well we’ll see Despicable Me 3 and that’ll be that I don’t but no I think

[25:42] those kind of trips help and your time will definitely be a little bit not cut in half from what you had just the private time that you get is kind of

[25:55] missing a little bit so your oldest will stay up a little bit longer your young this will be through the night again and you’ll just kind of be trying to find

[26:04] that routine to get by for at least a little bit until they get a little bit older to where you are now so a couple years yeah that’s right yeah it’s kind

[26:15] of a boy honest to god I think it’s it’s where of course it is gonna blur up till now is cuz I but the exhaustion and everything else but ya know did it just

[26:25] struck me as far as like the looking at him as we’re in this like this ordinary settings it’s 20 like what passes for moments like you expect to have like

[26:36] these deep retrospective moments like as massive events or great scenery so something of note would be happening but instead it’s like a

[26:45] restaurant inside of a mall and it off yeah you look at this kid and you’re just like huh like when the next one comes we don’t get to spend yeah as much

[26:54] time with you like that having that was very much a gift no it said second it got me to thinking like like damn imagine if you had a third and then a

[27:03] fourth way but I’m like just slowly goes down like the bars nothing they don’t even know your name there was goodness mostly just get raised by your first one

[27:14] yeah well I remember like him my first was really into space like he loves space so I showed him like you know all these documentaries and planets and

[27:24] everything he was really into it that was our like kind of our time like I had a telescope we halted the telescope at well not at night but when he was up and

[27:31] we could look through the telescope and then I kind of wanted to apply the same thing to my second but he’s totally different like he doesn’t want none of

[27:39] that he I don’t care I don’t care what space I don’t want I don’t want to build with Lego he’s more into like painting so it’s different that way to where

[27:48] you’re not missing out on the same things it’s kind of you’re introducing new things and you get to experience that with them as well the one thing I

[27:58] will say that’s kind of a downer is that with your first one when you know like when they first sat up or they rolled over and you’re like yeah and you got

[28:06] the video camera out and yeah this is amazing the second one it’s just like oh we missed it I guess we should get the camera I guess okay yeah furthering of

[28:21] the super declining photos like perky yeah it does have it won’t lie or does happen it’s just because your time is a little bit pulled between the two and

[28:32] even pulled between you two so it’s like that’s a lot o stuff to look forward to it’s just it’s it’s heavy

[28:44] like this it’s really hitting home as hope no soon it’s gonna be in like the you get a lot of yeah lot of remember it’s like a lot of moments just like

[28:53] we’re caught up and you think all of a sudden a boat let what life has been with one like all the wonderful moments with it and then like what what

[29:02] is coming but you know which the promise to like you know some of what’s coming which is bad like you know the bad stuff that’s coming we’ve been here before but

[29:10] it’s like anything else around the bad stuff what’s the rest of it gonna be like with like what what is it how do you survive with two so it’s um and yet

[29:19] in an interesting time for myself as we like get prepared for it the just even like a month left right this is one month or something missing end of August

[29:31] where yes no months yeah whoa that’s if we last man I don’t know it this there’s a scent out of it it could happen any moment it could happen at anymore yeah

[29:49] yeah yeah that’s just how this rolls at this point so excited for it tell you this still very excited for it so can’t wait to get that going

[29:57] but much like the last one is just like yeah the last weeks you’re just like I want I want no I’m ready like I want to say yeah you know meet him let’s don’t

[30:04] delayed anymore just pop it in let’s go yes my goodness yeah the oh yes I quickly I grab up on some gaming stuff for the question we were

[30:13] thrown back and forth early was just around the game outside of the game and specifically drama reviews story lore like it anything was going us on outside

[30:28] with it so I can think about reddit’s like just blowing up with no man’s sky defenders or detractors you know at campaigns repeat like players

[30:40] have gone to steam to try to shift the reviews of it I got a positive or negatively reviews of games are like massively great and a community where

[30:48] apps around it and destroys it or comes up with game theories or supports each other like he was like all this other crazy when I just discovered in no man’s

[30:58] sky for instance was entirely outside of the game they like a group have gotten together just completely map one quadrant of the star system

[31:09] oh wow it is a pert like a permanent star system like it this everyone can go to the same stars so it’s not randomly generated and a group have just decided

[31:17] to start to map it so they’re going to try to get to every single star and then they report in like where it is like what it’s like

[31:24] like the fauna that they found so games aside of games and I just wonder if I I guess what curious of your take on if you’ve ever participated in it has it

[31:33] ever affected a game for you because I guess it might for myself like many ways with my complete lack of gaming time like that type of that’s almost like

[31:42] this connection back to gaming for myself until I find personal time to play again where you’re participating in some of these not as actively isn’t

[31:51] writing anything but reading and consuming and they’re kind of watching from the outside of like this is what that gaming community is up to so it’s

[31:59] been an avenue for myself to kind of stay within it and been kind of enjoyable I don’t know if you’ve had any experiences with the game outside the

[32:07] game yeah I have a well a couple examples that you’ve kind of pulled in with the community kind of I guess bashing a game or collectively

[32:17] giving a negative review the most current game with that kind of idea is pillars of eternity which I just started they raised the price before the steam

[32:28] summer sale and people didn’t like that right so they wants to raise it and then reduced it again and reduced it yeah which is horrible like that’s a bad

[32:39] practice I I don’t like it but now you have their Steam review thing as next because all these negatives came in like I don’t know how many like a thousand of

[32:51] them saying you know negative I don’t approve of this and nothing was about the game itself so I found the game at a relatively cheap price I wasn’t paying

[33:01] full price and it’s a great game and but I had of like sift through all like the negative just they don’t like the practice like the business aspect which

[33:10] is fine you know you’re allowed to do that but I found like the game is good they just didn’t want to overpay I’m like okay well that’s fine I can go

[33:18] through that in terms of like a story in the game outside of the game The Witcher 3 had so many storylines and easter eggs and like

[33:29] theories about how things connected and I totally missed a lot of that just being a dad and not being always focused in on every detail but reading the forms

[33:41] after I’ve kind of completed certain areas like I was careful not to spoiler myself on some of that content but going back after I finished it was it was nuts

[33:52] like people connected things from the beginning to the end and all these other threads and there’s like family trees and world maps and stuff and like how

[34:00] the world was before I’m like this is awesome like the community like for a game to inspire people to do that in their free time let alone have the free

[34:09] time to do it but to use it and kind of build on this game and make a legacy that people could still follow it was cool I don’t know I like that kind of

[34:18] stuff where the game kind of lives on in its own community and grows by now subtly you know if you don’t with theories and content and like reviews

[34:31] and everything else like I think even if you didn’t participate in it or know about it like it actually could come back and around and affect you because I

[34:39] could think with Mass Effect like yeah Mass Effect 3 where they the ending was not well-received oh yes yeah and I swear that they added

[34:50] a third option you know I hope I’m like remembering this right as far as I remember there’s a two options that people didn’t like it so based on that

[34:57] they actually updated the game to add a third option okay to him okay no I’m googling this one cuz I feel like that happening

[35:07] people give enough feedback and if the developer is you know wise enough to listen to the community if they’re trying to put their game out – they

[35:17] could change the game if it’s doable I think The Witcher 3 even though that I mentioned it they did a movement patch where people weren’t happy on how the

[35:27] Witcher actually controlled and it was just about how people turned he would take an extra yeah and literally that’s all it was

[35:35] they patched it in as an option it was great and then people were like that’s all I wanted that’s perfect it’s stuff like that

[35:42] that’s totally doable if the community is talking and the developers listening I’m all for it maybe I’m like are you making this up is that what possibly or

[35:54] like it’s been long enough go well okay anyway another you can I pulled Final Fantasy 15 people hated that story because they couldn’t there’s so many

[36:05] holes and when I got into it the patch that was 15 gigs or whatever it was put in all these extra sequences from Kings clave and like new CG cutscenes to fill

[36:18] in that story because they were realizing that hey look people don’t understand it and that was great feedback it made the game experience

[36:27] better for me rather than being an early adopter that’s like three new massive Mass Effect 3 controversy new ending this summer let’s see is coming

[36:45] somewhere now never like whatever this summer had happened yeah let’s see piranha truth develop resonate Lubin Andromeda though

[36:59] this this summer they will see the release of a free downloadable content referred to as the extended cut will feature additional cinematic sequences

[37:05] at blog scenes along with the deeper insights and how a person’s journey concludes notably they don’t say they’re going to change the ending probably can

[37:17] at that point the three changes methods all include the additional cinematic sequence set okay so they just added never mind so there was the three it’s

[37:26] always a three but then they just added some additional like Baxter around it okay that doesn’t count I wonder if I just want like it’s gonna

[37:33] sender stay like that sounds I don’t have fun on our bank on know they like knackered on that one looking at the Andromeda where the characters were so

[37:42] bad that they went back in and redid some of the speeches because it is not synced and graphically destiny when they I think fan-out for caused

[37:53] Dinklage to be removed as the yeah yeah that was like voiced and people hated the poor missile they just had someone else come in and do it instead yeah he’s

[38:05] not good but I don’t think it should have been removed I don’t know I don’t know how bad could have possibly been he’d just a robot kind of ways it was

[38:11] unlike me that was the direction whose then it was yeah still not emotional he was a cube or whatever a floating anything man with the but I could call

[38:21] to say with Mass Effect 3 like the expanse I remember watching all these podcasts that the sect at the ending and like to hear the thoughts on it cuz I

[38:33] don’t know one especially I think is probably one of the biggest series that any kind of effect on me like much like a book where it’s just even with these

[38:40] characters so long it was so interesting to see how the story concluded and but to see the fan made versions of the ending how they would have done it which

[38:48] was usually just like recut of like existing Cinemax which is kind of cool to read theories to read like discussions on it you have like all this

[38:58] like of course you then get the drama as well like Street Fighter yes sir well it was I guess ripped apart at the beginning when people were so upset

[39:07] about it and then now it’s all about the meta like who’s like is good like following some of the notable stars that’s like they go through tournaments

[39:18] did cheese-like to bring a whole nother layer to this thing like the professor all the professional playing of these

[39:24] games in addition to talking you want to talk about an outside world based upon a game a game within a game which is like when people try to play it for money so

[39:33] being like hearthstone Championships csgo championships that Halo Championships back I don’t think those things exist anymore but she’s like not

[39:43] only you talk cute with this game and like enjoying this game and I have like you’re talking about people or people in characters who are playing this game and

[39:52] all the politics that surrounds like that and all the crazy stuff that would happen that anytime actual humans get involved in money’s so involved Internet

[40:00] way different than even rocket League I’m a rocket leak was just a freebie fair at least the console users and then it rolled out to everybody and now

[40:10] there’s a gaming competition on rocket League you have money have you ever watched one of those I don’t know like I’ve seen

[40:17] some just ballistic gameplay and the levels roll is like how do you possibly well sitting what people can do I mean there are like there’s no way I have the

[40:28] time or the patience to do the maneuvers that they’re doing in the game and that’s half that’s like if you’ve ever watched esport kind of championship even

[40:38] like csgo in particular their keyboards in and mice are all kind of like measured where they need them to be an all hot key time like I don’t remember

[40:48] those days I’m sorry it was like WASD or back less right most most quick quick this still is number one got it and that’s done and finished yeah no like

[41:02] the strategy and like the collaboration that goes into like any of those like matches especially teams is just astonishing oh my god man how does this

[41:12] exist but again again with the communities where like they’re talking about the strategies like I can’t get past a certain level

[41:21] I’m not level but like I can’t rise past this rank on the public leaderboards like how do you do that like it’s yeah like most of them I will say are very

[41:33] well maintained where they won’t give away the story or like the easy answer like they won’t just blurt it out like oh you need to be you know level 40 with

[41:44] this blood sword to kill the final guardian and his name is blah because he backstab you like they’re very like little kind of drip feed you the

[41:51] information to get you through something which I found great like a lot of that stuff is just very well manicured so no one’s being spoiled by going into these

[42:00] forums YouTube’s a little bit of a different story where he’s girl and then somebody’s like hey look the ending of Mass Effect was this you’re like ah gosh

[42:10] I’ve appreciate appreciate that ups though because I think there’s been a couple games where I just said like on dad time I’m like I’m not gonna oh yeah

[42:18] I’m not finishing this game show me show me what the ending is yeah fine good yeah I watch some playthroughs – right and like I just show me the ending

[42:27] playthrough great let’s see that’s what are the hours yeah cheers you – that’s great yeah now that you yeah it’s heading for a

[42:38] world like so it’s the ripple effect of a game landing and especially when it means something to the community is astounding like the it drops and then

[42:47] it’s like forums communities videos fan art theories like and how much then again how that kind of feeds back into the game like it’s definitely a it’s a

[42:58] wild time n-no it’s all great and it’s for the most part for the better like even one last game is Battlefront people I hated that game when it came out just

[43:08] with the lack of content some suckers bought it I won’t say yeah yeah fools but no they dramatically changed for the better I hope is battlefront to with

[43:21] this is better for you who’s this sucker might not flare so we’ll see they promised it I’ll see if they deliver but if the community spoke and they listened

[43:30] if they didn’t speak then it would be the same stuff rehashed cuz they made the money on it just do it over yeah not for the better I think I think that’s

[43:40] you want to make sure you’d like them to stick to their artistic visions but I think I definitely take feedback from their most loyal fans and be able to

[43:47] improve and yeah it’s great man but and like I said for guys like myself for sitting on the outside it gives you gives you a little little peek on the

[43:55] other side of the walled garden but hey hope to go in traverse one day yeah I’ll get back there one day one day one day you’ll be miles ahead of me like you’ll

[46:21] kids so when we started this I had no kids yeah we were like my wife was pregnant when we started this show and if we’d been had enough

[46:32] here’s of course does that’s his age but like you you had when you when you started you at a two-year-old you had my current user boy first episode know her

[46:41] son said I was in a basement off an iPad I was like little like I don’t ya the first and wears long form like we’re trying to this to be the one topic we

[46:53] still try to generally have topics yeah yeah but I still had to adapt like I didn’t know what I was doing like I have to carve out time somewhere so god yeah

[47:06] how the hell did man how did you make possibly have time that’s like that’s amazing very think it’ll work out because to always were yeah cuz Gavin I

[47:14] are both just pregnant yeah well not us but we have I get kids on the one day yeah had like you were in a flesh you had the two-year-old and a four-year-old

[47:24] that’s nuts Noisettes sorry it was a two and oh yeah breed difference isn’t there yeah there is so he was all he was getting close so

[47:35] okay see the call 2 and 5 so yeah you right you’re in the thick of it man that’s incredible you you were on the show I’m living in the future Trevor

[47:43] yeah see if I can cope well see like I get a two year old and another one and just like nope can’t can’t do it do it forget it

[47:53] you’re on your own oh I start talking and doing their own little personalities I think it’s easier that way this is gonna be awesome

[48:04] I’ve gotten to talk back now huh they all talk back to me now talk back me again it’s really a [ __ ] Tina dad yeah would you say to me go to your room yeah

[48:19] long as you’re living under my house my house under my roof I pay the hydro bills I make the rules till you beat me a head off nc15 you

[48:33] can’t oh don’t set the bar that low it’s true gonna be the man of the house something else Battletoads that Oh is if you be

[48:43] trial to us I haven’t but I can live subtle eyes I keep them together yeah how did he beat this mm-hmm it’s impossible

[48:55] okay I should watch it so try to watch a speedruner that I’ve had I have no concept of that game after the what still it’s like that level two jumping

[49:06] bikes you know I usually skip out of seats preso think about if things get passed at once and I I don’t I can’t think of any other level

[49:14] after that it’s hard to gets harder after that because it’s got like rattlesnakes that go away and you have to jump on them and follow them

[49:21] somewhere but it doesn’t give you like an area where to go it’s like like so impossible there’s no way there’s somebody to your lunge that give me your

[49:31] life questions to finish that thing and like you’d still never succeed that and the Ninja Turtle under water level impossible Oh can’t do it

[49:39] yes screw that game no way living hell the game is built to like just eat quarters yeah and break Souls [Music]
