[1:12] and it is time for new dad gaming a Showboat fatherhood gaming and new fathers figuring out their gaming lives my name is Trevor and I have an 11 month

[1:20] old my name is Gavin I have a nine month old and I’m Jeff I have a five-year-old and a three-year-old

[1:28] beautiful the yeah one month away from being a year that’s terrifying wow so you can just finally say a year instead of 12 months or you could be

[1:38] that person I don’t know like I think there’s like five episodes ago we ranted about that for

[1:45] hours hate oh he says he’s a 48 month old he’s my darling yeah wait but you now have a year birthday coming up you must be

[1:54] that’s playing in that like right now like like yesterday are you are you positioning for an invitation or a big one yeah I got a lot of junk to give you

[2:07] I mean new stuff a lot of a lot of bite marks in this uh Jeff I get this old iPhone case that you

[2:16] could have like sweet pre-chewed so you know it’s good man I don’t know about the

[2:25] I’ll get into a bit like I guess what we’re trying I don’t know what we want to do I mean I guess like

[2:30] it’s just funny because you see some because it’s like a cake and it’s a whole party and you invite other babies he’s like none of the babies get it like

[2:39] it’s just Thursday you know like they don’t understand what’s going on so that part’s all for the parents I I’m trying to imagine like what on Earth

[2:45] to do with the exception of the baby getting to try cake for the first time the whole thing’s for the parents and for the other family members the

[2:53] extended family and stuff like that exactly like but just think of it like this is what your pivotal moment you look back on your kid’s first birthday

[3:01] what does the cake look like is it a robot is it what is it a jellyfish these are important decisions that you have to make what is your kid dressed in they’ll

[3:12] haunt you forever this is what your kids can remember you by yeah like you do that to me Dad so we had a um geez we had when we were

[3:22] down in Colombia we had uh Adrian’s baptism and I’m just I’m literally just connecting

[3:30] the dots now but I just realized the cake had it was like a wine cake so I was alcoholic he was asleep like that I don’t understand it he loved it

[3:41] but uh yeah I think we’re gonna we’re obviously do something I think it’s likely gonna be more just immediate family

[3:47] um I don’t think we’re gonna do a kid party because again there’s no no kid gets any benefit from it and in fact if anything it’s a burden

[3:55] on the parents because it’s not like you I don’t think the babies at that age really have friend recognition yet built in like the familiarity like to them all

[4:06] babies are kind of like there’s really only competition human beings exactly human beings that they’ve um like

[4:15] actually had connections with that there’s been that imprinting um but like you know it’s not until they’re a little bit older that they

[4:22] start to recognize other people you know they they are in a way but like they’re not going to look back on it’s like why didn’t you invite Stephen it’s

[4:31] like they’re not gonna remember that it’s gonna be like I don’t remember any of this just just to set it though we had uh

[4:42] about like I think 15 babies over with their parents we had a tent set up in the backyard to house said babies

[4:54] so they had shade had a barbecue the house was running full of people so I don’t know what you’re gonna do are you trying to set a bar because I’ll

[5:05] tell you it’s not working the craziest thing that’s come out of your mouth since I just took the diapers off my baby

[5:14] more effort than we put into her like our rehearsal dinner yeah you know it sort of was even like the

[5:26] engagement party like our engagement party was less of a of a of an event um yeah 15 babies yeah well yeah the daycare

[5:37] doesn’t have 15 things yeah well it was like a mommy group that we kind of hung around with it was it was more the camaraderie with the other parents like

[5:46] that’s the thing is it’s for the adults like it’s for the adults to celebrate this Baby’s a year this is great like the babies are just along for the ride

[5:54] whether there’s one or a dozen um you know like they’re gonna have a good day regardless they’re babies every day is awesome just put them in a pit

[6:02] but it’s more important it’s for the parents and the families and stuff to be able to celebrate and you know whether it’s uh you know an intimate thing or a

[6:12] full you know to the brim house with spillover tent um you know like whatever is gonna whatever’s gonna get the job done and

[6:20] everybody’s gonna have a happy time and that’s all that really matters you know still over attending the zoo a little over Diaper Genie so I mean is

[6:30] there going to be drama if I don’t invite you guys to my kid’s first birthday what we’re not invited

[6:40] we’ll join you via Google Hangout nice we’ll do a live podcast just duct tape an iPad to a Roomba and I’ll be there yeah you said that about my wedding too

[6:52] Gavin and you didn’t show up I didn’t know the batteries so so hold on let’s uh I could care less to beat this uh topic of death but I do

[7:02] now I want to know so Jeff that your tent of 15 baby disaster was no I say 15. I’m I’m like my memory maybe it’s 10 but it’s enough maybe it’s

[7:16] two maybe it was just no it was just me what’d you do for the next one like did you that died off like I’m sorry you know this you know the second kid

[7:27] syndrome it totally happens and you swear that you’ll never do it um I was first born of my brother obviously uh second born and he’s always

[7:37] said you know stuff isn’t the same for him and I’ve always like when we have our second kid we won’t do that we’ll do the same things all the time like first

[7:46] boring assist second born you’ll get the same thing we tried to do that it we we you’re just exhausted with two and it just doesn’t work so we did

[7:57] something different but it wasn’t you know a tent full of babies out in the back

[8:06] don’t have that many yards um but no it was I don’t know the first first birthday party was a big big one to us

[8:18] so I was asking the other parents it’s like so this is we did it right now it’s easy that’s it we got the photos to prove it

[8:28] we’re good or just Photoshop them whatever well I think at the end of the day too is it’s it’s for because you said like

[8:36] you have the photos it’s like you’re doing it for memories you’re not really like it’s not uh really there to satisfy any other need other than Marca really

[8:45] you know important memory but um I do hear of some families though they do get like carried away and like yeah I

[8:55] mean like you know not not a not a baby tent carried away but like carried away um so yeah I think like I know with us

[9:05] we’re like we’ve already started planning it and by we it’s the uh my wife has started planning it and she’s doing a great job

[9:17] um but no it’s uh you know we’ve been talking about it and and it’s I think like we have a game plan but it’s also proportionate to what we’re capable of

[9:26] Hosting um you know our apartment’s not huge so we only have so many people we’re going to kind of have like a rolling guest

[9:32] list in a way like you know hey if you want to come to the morning or whatnot there might be someone who other kids here don’t know you know if there are

[9:41] great if they’re If the parents just want to leave them with Grandma and Grandpa that’s what I do

[9:49] but uh but yeah I think with like we but you know ours still also has like some fun stuff like we’ve got a theme picked out and like we’re gonna do the cake in

[9:58] a particular theme with that you can see Trevor’s eyes just getting wider just like oh God this is one or two with the because the

[10:09] money shot like the beautiful the photo everybody wants I think there’s a couple like I think there’s a couple kid photos that everybody wants one is where the

[10:16] dad is dressed up like a girl drinking tea with his daughter like that that’s a classic dad photo right nobody told me about that one

[10:25] are you kidding like seeing the dad’s sitting on the table with a little teacup in a like a tiara or something it’s super cute it’s yeah no no I I

[10:33] think I know what you’re talking about because that’s sort of like yeah I’ll play whatever game you want to play today it’s one of the classics the other

[10:40] classic is when the kid dumps like spaghetti on his head like look at this That’s a classic and I think the other classic is when the kid inevitably like

[10:47] just shows cake all over his face yeah and there’s some part of me that I imagines like there’s a super neat kid who just very quietly like feeds it into

[10:54] his mouth and the parents are like come on let’s just smash it into the thing he doesn’t like kid you’re not ruining my day yeah

[11:04] off camera too you’re just throwing cake at it please damn it baby dad my only memories I’m terrified of

[11:13] cake I don’t know what else you’re talking about smell of chocolate makes me scared I don’t know why if you break down in tears

[11:21] so gentlemen as far as the week goes how was it in fatherhood and gaming uh fatherhood’s good baby’s on the move so that’s exciting nice uh she’s uh

[11:33] she’s discovered mobility and she’s getting fast and she’s starting to understand things that like Curiosities like oh

[11:43] the doggie has his food over here and you know things like that so a lot of scoop reposition reset set a distraction toy at the other end

[11:53] of the hall and let her do her thing um but I know it’s pretty exciting she’s uh she’s loving the whole uh like the exploration factor of being able to

[12:04] crawl and just like I can go over there and now she’s kind of like taking toys and kind of knocking them around and push them around so then she can go like

[12:12] hunt it down and basically my baby’s playing Fetch with herself but yeah perfect baby whatever makes you happy you need a

[12:21] treadmill with like a dangling toy like a carrot wear yourself out but no she’s doing well she’s a couple teeth coming in so that’s always uh you

[12:33] know it’s it’s not too bad like she’s very receptive to the whole Frozen face cloth trick so that’s been working a while

[12:42] um it’s what my mom did for me it’s what we did for our dog it’s it’s a remarkably good trick

[12:51] I be careful with that logic because there’s probably limits to we used it as a point dog oh it was fetch we got fetch going too right so sensing a theme yeah

[13:00] exactly no it’s uh it’s going well um as for gaming it’s been uh relatively light I’ve been trying out uh Killzone shadowfall a little bit here

[13:10] and there um my PS4 I have a feeling needs a good cleaning um it’s getting a wee bit on the hair

[13:18] dryer volume level so um I got two it’s off warranty now so there’s not much uh I can do in regards to sending it back to Sony

[13:28] um fair enough they got a policy they got a policy uh but that means that I don’t have to worry about those little stickers in the back saying you’re gonna

[13:34] avoid something yeah yeah so um I’m waiting on a screwdriver I need there’s a certain bit that I just don’t have one small enough at the size just

[13:46] too big um so as soon as I get that bit I’m gonna crack into her and clean her out and see if that works and failing that

[13:53] then it means that I just need a new fan and probably some fresh thermal paste and that’s something I’m not doing so I’ll just do the shop uh there’s a shop

[14:02] in my neighborhood that quoted me a decent price so we’ll take it in let them do that work but as far as just cleaning out dust I can do that but I’ve

[14:09] kind of been not gaming a whole bunch until I get that thing resolved because right now it’s kind of like getting really loud and really warm and

[14:18] I don’t want to burn it out you know and we have a stove for frying eggs I don’t need the PS4 for that so I’m just gonna wait

[14:27] um but I think keeping an eye on a few other games that are coming out soon we’re not coming out soon but just ones that I’ve been hearing things about

[14:34] um wow that was very Canadian um a boot boot uh okay the the team who originally made burnout the really awesome racing game which you just

[14:45] shoved people into the guardrails uh they’re making a golf game what I didn’t hear about it yeah before the podcast uh it looks like it’s

[14:56] gonna be for the PS4 imagine other things as well uh it’s called Dangerous golf because why not

[15:03] sure sure it’s the most dangerous game of all yeah it’s it’s a golf ball and it’s in like a room full of very fragile objects like like stacked bottles of

[15:16] champagne and like wine goblets and stuff all on like rickety old wooden tables and the demo I saw was just this physics

[15:25] demo but it’s all about you you hit the golf ball and you have to bounce it around this area and do as much property damage

[15:33] as possible and then you put it into the hole and whatever damage you can cause while remaining

[15:42] under par like that’s your score

[15:49] which was like causing those big pile-up accidents um but instead of the guilt of causing like

[15:57] vehicular manslaughter um it’s Golf and broken glass so um but yeah it looks like a lot of fun and there’s another one uh the the name

[16:08] of the game is slipping me right now uh because I’ve just found it a bit but there’s another space shooter coming down the pipe that looks really fun

[16:17] um and it’s like a roguelike as well but one that kind of allows you to build up so kind of like a game like Rogue Legacy where you play it but even if you die

[16:26] and you have to start over there is some carryover like some progression um and yeah it looks pretty interesting it looks beautiful

[16:35] um the development team worked on a space shooter for mobile that was really good apparently and uh this one’s looking really slick it looks like a

[16:43] very fun just like uh it’s mouse keyboard apparently is the best way to control it uh very similar to old game I used to love called

[16:51] freelancer yeah but yeah uh it looks like a lot of fun so there’s some new little titles coming out on the sides that I’m like hey you’re refreshing

[17:00] you’re an open world first person shooter this is nice okay let’s try this episodes so it’s spring a time for Renewal time for fresh simple games yeah

[17:13] that’s the um so yes I hope that I mean I hope that golf one as soon as you said as soon as I heard about it was burnout they’re

[17:21] doing a golf game you instantly think it’s going to be a full AAA title and that’s like a 60 dollar purchase hope that’s not the case because that that

[17:28] sounds certainly like a lot of fun that doesn’t sound like something you’d get years and years of I could be wrong but just doesn’t sound

[17:35] like it’d be deep enough for it sounds it sounds akin to like I am toast honestly yeah or it’s like certainly fun but just like you know

[17:44] crash they had that or that crash game on iPad or you just kind of flicked the car into yeah Carnage I have a feeling it’s going

[17:53] to be more along those lines in the sense of like this is just something fun that we wanted to do uh I could see it being a little bit more budget priced

[18:00] they even did a I think it was called bullet count um oh wait no bullet count was another store wait was it them

[18:07] I think it was them um and they also made another shooter a while back too like they diverged away from just doing car games

[18:15] um but they’ve done some more economically priced releases in the last few that they’ve done so I do we’re

[18:24] gonna see like Star Wars Battlefront kind of price points on it I think it’s gonna be a little bit more modest a little bit more

[18:30] uh within the realm of Reason um because I think that’s the other thing going forward as well is that it’s a

[18:38] little bit more of a casual game it’s like I Just Want to Break Stuff certainly sounds dead sessionable so that uh that could be a fun one to pick

[18:47] up yeah no that’s the thing and the other one too with it being sort of like a roguelike it’s like yeah see how far I can get and when I die I’m done and it’s

[18:54] probably gonna be relatively quick so um that was like with FTL I found that one was oh yeah uh you could play it for a bit and then it’s like well like even

[19:04] if you’re to beat the game you would probably be able to beat it in maybe a two hour sitting um but you’re not going to so I never

[19:15] beat it it’s impossible well I wouldn’t say impossible but holy yeah I got to like the last sector and near the end like a couple of yeah like the like

[19:24] that’s the last I could see the end of this map thing but then I died I remember like it was yesterday just my crew running around suffocating and like

[19:33] fires breaking out everywhere I’m like this is it this is I go this is I’m going down with the ship that’s it I thought this was my winning winning run

[19:42] but yeah but no no I might have to crack into that one later that was a really fun game oh it’s just they should do like a

[19:53] fatherhood Edition where it’s that game but there’s just a baby running around like starting fires but open the airlock and get it out

[20:04] but you kind of win look who’s talking but with like space travel like your crew just has to get this baby

[20:14] from one end of the galaxy to the other without it jettisoning itself yeah you don’t even have any enemies it’s just a baby desperately trying to

[20:24] count the self-destructive crew yeah yeah it’s like the USS daycare it’s just like a dozen babies and one Captain

[20:33] Picard running around we should probably keep a running list of all the game ideas that we come in I think so too you did great these are gems we should at

[20:41] least at the very least like you know copyright after each session just just say TM at the end of every single one I think yeah that is my understanding of

[20:49] law USS daycare TM yeah did you guys ever sorry just you mentioned the cooking the PS4 did you ever cook your um XBox 360 with the red ring of death

[21:00] yeah I got one but was still under warranty so I was able to send it in they sent me a new one or three commercial one or whatnot because one

[21:06] thing that and it worked for me like three or four times one thing you would do in red ring but then you wrap it in four or five blankets

[21:16] so the thing would massively overheat because the problem was like there was a as far as I understood there’s some sort of Chip that wasn’t melding properly and

[21:24] there’s a soldering so if you heated it up enough it would melt the soldering and reconnect it so literally four or five times I had this thing wrapped up

[21:32] in like towels like massive amount of towels it would terribly overheat then proceed to like redo the soldering so I was able to play it again for like a

[21:40] couple weeks did you ever did you feel bad like it would be like watching someone die in front of you like I’m sorry buddy I gotta wrap you up is this

[21:49] for your own good gotta do it overheating surgery it’s fine it comes out freshly baked I got at least a game a week worth

[21:58] of gaming on it it’s like forcing like a little computer friend through rehab just sweat it out buddy it’s shaking underneath please though

[22:09] please no it’s like it’s all right just one more blanket I don’t want another blanket I said uh Jeff yourself a week in uh

[22:19] fatherhood and gaming um I had a little bit of both of the same um fatherhood and gaming with Tearaway

[22:26] so I bought Terror away on the flash shell and my eldest son started playing it and I actually witnessed that he can navigate a 3D platformer which I didn’t

[22:36] think he could do yet so it was like Hey hurray moment um so he was going through that and with that game it’s kind of cool because I

[22:44] can kind of not parent along with them but I can um kind of join in the game so you can have a smartphone and draw like little construction items and like

[22:54] actually shoot them into the game and then they come in on screen so it’s kind of cool that way you could take pictures and put them on and the textures change

[23:01] like instantly so it was neat to do that like little interaction with him he’s going along in the game having a blast and I’m just shooting stupid pictures

[23:10] and drawing whatever I can draw the like his name on flags that would appear and then like butterflies you can change the colors and stuff and all the grass can

[23:19] change with the textures so it was really neat it’s like a companion app that you install and not even that it’s just uh like a second screen with your

[23:27] PlayStation 4. so you just go into the PlayStation app or you could I think they have a website too that’s dedicated to it and then you can do it on an iPad

[23:34] or a smartphone it’s way better on the tablet and use a draw and cut and paste and then send it in it’s really neat so I was really curious

[23:43] about that game but I didn’t know about the second screen interaction yeah that is that is amazing it’s gonna be one of the best like parent-child interactions

[23:54] for a game I’ve ever heard because you could you could totally customize it based on him if he likes too yeah Little Big Planet where you gotta sit

[24:01] and make a level and have them wait while you construct it right right well you perfect it right yeah it’s like it’s in real time where it’s like you know

[24:10] you’re not having your kid can I play it yet it’s like no I’m not yet just hold on no it was a really cool uh little experience with him and then he

[24:20] could customize his character too right so when we got into that screen it’s um one of the levels is like it’s a it’s like a winter level and so I had to

[24:28] design a snowflake what the snowflakes would look like in the uh in the level so I did that while he put uh he drew mittens because your character didn’t

[24:35] have mittens and one of the little guys in games like oh you’re gonna be cold you better draw mittens so he was drawing his mittens and then the little

[24:42] character had mittens running around and then my snowflakes would appear on screen it was so cool it was a really interesting game so highly recommend it

[24:51] for like a like a father son or daughter kind of game uh when they’re at that level because it is a lot of it gets really hard uh later in the game

[25:02] the difficulty pick just kind of ramps up it’s like um okay no you can’t just jump on enemies anymore you have to like one of

[25:11] the things is the touch screen is like your wind movement so you have to swipe it and he was kind of getting the hang of swiping the wind in the game to

[25:18] unravel paths that you could walk across but some of the enemies when they jumped you had to win them off the cliff so he couldn’t get the timing down and he’s

[25:27] just getting a little bit frustrated so I had to kind of step in for a little bit you know but daddy take care of this and I’ll get you through this part but

[25:36] it uh it was a good experience for him he wants to go back and play it and like there’s no deaths or anything you just kind of you fall down you come back

[25:43] there’s no like continues or game over so it’s a really good like learning experience for him right so it’s really really neat neat one to do

[25:51] and again flash sale so it was like eight bucks yeah that flash sale that happened the other week was was I got uh yeah I picked up Killzone because I’m

[26:00] like yeah I really liked any of the screenshots I saw I was like oh that architecture design is cool like I was just looking

[26:06] at it basically the industrial design that they did for the like levels like just the environments were really interesting so I was looking at it more

[26:16] of like I just wanted Traverse the environments and see these cool sort of like oh I never thought of like a ladder extending like that and what just I

[26:24] always loved sci-fi architecture especially industrial stuff it always fascinates me so I got it for that and also picked up the Valiant Hearts

[26:32] um world war one kind of narrative Adventure um I haven’t cracked into it yet but I’m really curious but yeah that sale was

[26:38] really good yeah yeah the primarily it was one of the ones I was like oh I might get that it’ll go on sale again it’ll be part of

[26:46] plus knowing my luck it’ll just be part of uh Playstation Plus next week yeah but otherwise I don’t know it was good good experience yes how about you uh

[26:55] Trevor yeah so we did the they had another great flight like I I couldn’t believe it it’s oh you didn’t use up your plane Karma or anything two for two

[27:06] eh because we had well no like uh that’s four for four because we flew in country almost at one point yeah no that was only an hour flight so but even those

[27:15] again he behaved great so we’re coming up to the return flight home six hours and it’s like okay it is it has gone real well so far I don’t what’s the

[27:25] chances it goes four for four but he of the times he was the most fussy but within reasonable baby amounts you know like it’s just like oh okay and best

[27:35] part too is that the people in the immediate area one was a father of a couple another was a grandmother so it’s great to have people who’ve been there

[27:44] yeah don’t worry we have them don’t worry anybody within glaring distance yeah they could have some form of empathy for

[27:54] you then that’s usually like because you know somebody who’s at the end of the plane even if your baby did nothing but just one tiny little fart they would get

[28:03] enough off about it um because some people it was the baby that did that definitely the baby yeah yeah

[28:12] you just did you did just spend a fair amount of time eating food you’re not used to but that’s all right the baby did it yeah all this Baby’s gassy geez

[28:23] poor baby but um yeah it was fabulous it went so well then so happy for that I think so I think generally he tends to travel well

[28:33] um he certainly has a lot of movement like he always wants to be moving and so that tends to be a little bit tricky I think anytime we can plan the flight for

[28:43] his normal sleep hours he tends to knock off pretty easily like the last quarter of the flight was for during his like sleep hours so he just

[28:54] popped off and that was an issue at all yeah so that was great so we’re back in the Homeland um the car Tim Hortons is wonderful and

[29:03] it’s kind of good to have it’s definitely great to have all of his amenities back as far as like his uh like blending his

[29:10] food and his bottles like just access to everything that we kind of get accustomed to in dealing with him but I gotta say it’s very interesting to

[29:17] hear you being like I’m so happy to be back at Tim’s where you just left the country that literally Farms coffee for Tims

[29:29] too much to say I’ve I’ve been to the coffee fields in Colombia before on a previous trip and like picked beans like just the whole

[29:39] nine yards and somehow it’s I’m sure it’s just a Canadian Nostalgia thing yeah like it’s lit and in many ways too like if you compare like it’s probably

[29:46] closer to Brown water than it is the coffee like in many ways yeah but but it’s our Brown water and there’s just something about the taste that works so

[29:55] well so the yes it was fabulous all together like just such a great trip and for him to see his grandparents that was

[30:05] just such a stunning experience met his aunt down there as well like it’s just so wonderful I think we’ve couldn’t have asked for a better trip

[30:13] ultimately and and that I’m really happy about there’s kind of disaster scenarios that run through your mind in planning for this trip so or even just with like

[30:23] just visiting people in general you’re always a little bit worried like is it going to go over well and stuff but then when you add like you know uh six hours

[30:33] of air travel each way that’s when the worries kind of get uh you know exponentially worse

[30:44] um even just because of the distance like it’s not the parameters or the people it’s just like oh we gotta travel this way I really hope it goes well yeah

[30:53] your hopes were going well or greater than just like a a simple we gotta drive down the highway but you know no like six hours on a plane I’d be worried

[31:03] about a blowout I mean like that’s all you need is just crap up your back and it’s done like that’s it I think we had like four backups just in

[31:16] case like just you know prepped like because it’s not so much it’s just the other horror stories you hear and even for food like we probably had about two

[31:26] days worth of food packed but it’s it’s the scenario where you hear they landed there was an issue and they had to spend like six hours on the runway oh God

[31:37] I’ll say if you’re trying to convince I don’t know why you’d be trying to convince but say if you ever want to try to convince somebody to have babies

[31:45] just have them see the priority lines at airports and I know we covered it last time but like God is it not amazing because we say again we saved at least

[31:55] getting onto the plane we saved an hour easy like us having a kid was the only way we got onto this plane like we were a little bit late so yeah they just blew

[32:04] past everybody and then on the way in I’m in line and there’s a there’s no priority line so no no baby line and uh coming into Toronto but there was a

[33:07] restaurant you’re trying to get you know out of there and get the bill just have your kids cry a little bit and you’re gonna be served like that any lineup Man

[33:15] kids are crying they’ll get you in they’ll get you and get you out yeah I imagine that would be in many ways it’s benefit for everybody I’m sure there’s a

[33:22] little bit of screw that guy for scraping the line but it’s like listen kid is quiet now I can’t guarantee that’s going to last if you want crying

[34:38] first I still have not beaten Street Fighter 3. because the last no the end boss is a Jerk It’s it’s not fair he’s got one move

[34:48] that literally takes off sixty percent of your health I I could and I’m not kidding you guys I can feel myself getting better I can

[34:55] replace things I can like I’m getting in a couple Combos and I even won a round against him which was you know like had never happened

[35:05] previously there’s that progress but there’s this one movie does and it takes you down 60 it’s very it’s classic old school boss

[35:15] BS where it’s like where if you don’t hit the block just properly you lose all your life you’re just dead it’s

[35:22] basically insta kill and like I’ll be winning like a particular round and he does it and you’re dead and it’s just like there’s no skill to it it’s super

[35:31] frustrating still so still haven’t beat it still haven’t Beat it I’m home now I’m curious now how it translates into Street Fighter 5.

[35:40] if if this training has in fact helped me or perhaps ruined me because me because for instance like there’s no in this version you can block while jumping

[35:51] yeah okay yeah you can’t you can’t you cannot there is no blocking in the air so have I now trained my thumbs yeah so that’s gonna work so let’s we’ll see

[36:07] how that goes I’m curious to pick it up I haven’t had a chance to play it yet I’m very curious to pick up Street Fighter 5 now having spent better part

[36:15] of three weeks at three ineptly spent three hours at three but I think the uh what I was missing mentioning last week so I continued on

[36:24] playing Final Fantasy 10 as well uh a great moment happened where there’s one scene where she’s in one of the castles and she’s singing the one of the main

[36:34] characters hears her singing he goes up to see her and as a CG animation that played seeing the lead up to it triggered my

[36:41] memory that that scene was coming up and at the time I didn’t have headphones so I actually stopped playing because I want because I wanted to hear the scene

[36:49] oh wow it’s a pretty it’s a pretty song it’s a nice scene it’s like I don’t want to experience this without music so I just stopped playing for the day until I

[36:58] could get somewhere with headphones but um but as we mentioned mentioning previously is that this is It’s really perfect for dads

[37:05] like this mobile version of it because at any point if you just leave like and I mean any point and I’ve tested it a bunch like boss battle uh

[37:14] any map view dialogues anything if you leave the game and then reopen it like you get right back into that point oh really yeah so like perfectly

[37:24] bookmarks it that’s so dangerous though because I’ve tried it with Final Fantasy VII on iPad right and like if I open two apps the memory is flushed and I opened

[37:36] the phone open se7 again it’s like oh but then you can save at any time right so it’s not like you need a save point you can just save through like whatever

[37:45] you can you can’t save any time but I’ve actually had the so I’ve had it closed down because like I lost like you know I didn’t have enough memory to run it

[37:53] but when I did load it back up it brought me right back to that minute and reliably like I’ve done it like I I literally tested it at the beginning

[38:01] because I wanted to know I didn’t want to get into a very tense scenario and then find out the hard way so it’s like yeah it’s it’s stunning to

[38:11] me like it’s it’s fantastic for some like an RPG fan like myself where this is probably the most uh or the best suited method for me to

[38:22] play these type of games out of anything because as far as it’s always with me it’s I can do it in bite-sized chunks it’s always continue

[38:29] like it I can jump out at any point for any reason so it’s been stunning that way it’s been really great for RPG fans who are also dads with like

[38:39] limited times thanks and which also going to be thinking even of Street Fighter you can’t do it on a cell phone there

[38:47] Trevor yeah yeah I know you’re better it’s not gonna work just the fights in general so you do you do have unfortunate when you are in a match you

[38:54] do have like the matches are not gonna last longer than like one to five minutes five minutes being absurdly long for a match but then it’s over and

[39:01] you’re done so if something’s set on fire you can at worst you’re letting it burn for like a minute hold on I’ll get with you in a second

[39:09] it’s there I’m just I’m busy losing I’ll lose any minute and I’ve lost okay now we’re good so that too I think it’s just a format

[39:17] that uh works well for fatherhood in that sense so to net two discoveries as far as good games at work

[39:25] four dads well we will see yeah well I’m interested to see your progress in Street Fighter 5. because I

[39:35] saw there was another flash sale on that game and I was like hmm should I jump in and just see what I can do like ahead of you just so we couldn’t I don’t think we

[39:45] can I don’t know if they have cross play working yet no they don’t but if I could rank up in the PS4 world and I’ll see you in the Championships

[39:54] wherever they have them oh yeah and uh you show up and you’re like yeah I got into Goldilocks it’s pretty easy what are you talking about you can block

[40:02] while you jump I don’t get it cross play going on it I don’t know next week Jeff will be like oh yeah and as far as fatherhood goes

[40:13] yeah my son tried to Street Fighter and so much better than you no you can already do all the moves it’s kind of weird he’s beating it like four times

[40:24] like a genius it’s just so much research and training at the beginning like work

[40:36] yes yeah it is because it’s like screen counting right like when the animation starts you’re supposed to be able to time it

[40:42] to block and stuff like people are insane with that game frame count all day for work I don’t want to do it I think so like I said what’s it has

[40:52] been enjoyable like a the training of it like the matches and everything else like still is holding me in so it’s definitely not like oh God I

[41:02] hate this I don’t want to have to practice anymore right it has been fun and enjoyable and they’ve done some great things where you can

[41:10] um we accept requests for matches so you’ll be in the training room or in some one of the other modes like just the offline

[41:18] modes and literally a request will come in it’s like hey this guy wants to fight you do you want to do it and you can turn that off too like if you just don’t

[41:25] want them it’s like public school all over here but as far as like the problem is like for ranked matches like they’re pretty

[41:34] they’re working pretty hard to have it so that you’re fighting somebody like kind of within your range so you can either go up or down a bit

[41:40] um but that tends to take time so it can be anywhere between like a you know like 10 seconds or even like four or five minutes before you can actually find a

[41:47] proper ranked match but what they’ve done is that so you can just but you can just turn that on and then just go off practice like do solo

[41:54] mode offline mode and then when that shows up you can agree to like hop in and play so there’s some they’ve done some nice

[42:01] respect things for time that way we’ll see we’ll see so you can always schedule it for like you know 3 30 behind the climbers

[42:12] if recess isn’t isn’t isn’t if you don’t accept you and you get like messages of just hate just what are you doing yeah you start losing PlayStation friends or

[42:24] like online friends just like they start dropping off yeah we’ll see I stick with it it’s a good progress I’m

[42:36] very I’m so curious about what we talked about last week with the offline like actually going to a Meetup where there’s other people playing it
